The Condition

21: The Condition

Lara loves her job, Noah knows that. But he didn't want her to overdo it. Even if she wasn't entirely human and doing things like this was easy for her, Noah wanted Lara to enjoy life once in a while. Like taking a breaking and appreciating the silence.

Actually, looking at her now, Noah still couldn't believe he found her. He's been waiting for her for a long time. He almost forgot how time went by as he waited. He was alone.

True. He had his father and his pack. But there is no one like him in this world. The first tri-breed that ever existed in the supernatural world. That's why a mate is precious for Noah and his kind. The moment their mates were born; it was destined that they'd become their other-halves. Finding their mate means they'd be whole now.

Werewolves are hollow creatures. And waiting for their destines females was a torturous process. To some of them who waited too long it was hell. The purpose for their existence was to love and commit themselves to their mates; provide for them and protect them. If fate is kind, they're lucky to find their mates by chance.

Unfortunately some failed to do so and have descend themselves into madness; letting themselves be consumed by their own anger and loneliness.

Once a werewolf mate dies, or reject their claim on them, there's no saving the werewolves from turning into rogues.

But Noah, being the anomaly in their pack, was different. Being born a Tri-breed- he had complete control over his wolf, his human and vampiric side subduing it to submit to his wishes... hence he was able to wait longer.

But after meeting Lara, his wolf fought him madly for control. He just had a tiny whiff of her scent and his wolf was resisting his control, urging him to take her, claim her by force so they may be one at last!

God, he wanted to touch her that moment...

Even now, he was still itching to touch her face. Her big almond-shaped eyes flashed with appreciation looking outside the car window. She was the epitome of feminity and delicateness rolled into one. Her nose pointed and her dark brown hair framing palm sized face.

Noah clenched his fist. He can hear the bones of his fingers crackling as he tried to calm himself down. He was still being his rational self. He didn't want to force the claiming on her. If he do that, he won't be able to win her heart.

She's a princess and a vampire has a lot of pride in them. That's what makes vampires look so smug and arrogant in the eyes of his kind. Even if she's just half immortal, she's still royalty.

After the events of last night Noah felt he's taken a step closer towards her. He'll continue to take this path and take his time. Even if the situation urges him to rush things due to the heat, Lara was the one who decides how fast their relationship was going to progress, not him.

Hopefully, soon he'll be able to enter her heart...

Watching the bustling city as they went past it with ease, Lara smiled as she appreciated the view. Back in Velhella the streets looked just like this; but older. Their architecture was still frozen in the ancient times and vampires are pretty traditional resulting for a part of her ancestors culture to live even now.

Lara felt a warm sensation on her neck. She reached out and touched the charm necklace. Rubbing her fingers on the stone. Suddenly she remembered her father's words. The promise she made. And the conditions of her stay.

She totally forgot about that.

Her father, the Vampire King, was protective of her and there's no shock about that. Everyone in the vampire realm knew how the great Sebastien was protective of his one and only daughter. In fact, he didn't want her to live alone in the human realm, he wanted her to bring a maid and some guards but because it was one of his wife's wishes for their daughter, he conceded. His wife wanted their daughter to achieve and go through with life in our own terms and he wanted that too. However, knowing what kind of situation they were in, he let his daughter go with two conditions; to keep her identity a secret, and to never use her powers in front of other people, no matter what.

Lara already broke the first condition. Noah and Stefani knew who she is. If she breaks another one, her necklace would go off and automatically transport her to Velhella. There she will never step foot in the human realm ever again.

"Something's bothering you..." Noah saw the distress on Lara's face. He became worried he reached for her hand. "What is it?"

Lara met his eyes, "There's something I forgot to tell you..."

Afterwards...

"That's a big problem indeed..." Stefani paced back and forth in the room. They were discussing Lara's condition inside a private room they rented inside a famous restaurant. The lunch meeting was already concluded and over with, now they were the only ones left in the room talking about the vampire kings condition.

Lara was about to tell Noah everything but they arrived in the restaurant already so she waited until the meeting was over. After the lunch meeting, Noah asked her to continue, he wasn't able to forget about it so he was the one who opened the topic first.

Stefani was with them and she heard Noah's question so she listened to what Lara was going to say. After Lara spoke to them about everything, Noah's expression was dark while Stefani was troubled by this.

"So... the only way for you to keep staying here is to not use your powers in front of other people?"

"Yes. That's the promise I made which binds me to this necklace." She said, showing them the necklace. Recognition flashed in Noah's eyes. He saw it before when he snuck into Lara's room to watch her sleep.

So it's watching her actions 24/7 unless she takes it off...

"This thing monitors whether I've crossed the agreement or not. Other than that, this necklace hides my aura and suppress some of my abilities so that I may seem human to everyone else."

"What if you take off your necklace, what happens then?" Stefani asked.

"I can take it off my neck, like taking away shackles binding away my powers. However, the condition still stands and I'd be transported directly to my homeworld if my powers were seen by human eyes."

"So there's no walking around this then..."

"Yes..."
