A Lich in this book, is someone that attempted to be crowned by the afterlife. when attempted, they will be given a task that is outside the norm of what should be achievable. if they dont pass, their soul is ripped apart, and their casted out into the void or what is considered purgatory where an eldritch god older than the very multiverse lives. that said, upon becoming a supposed "lich" they gain power that others cannot weild by natural or unnatural means. liches can control what is called necron, a form of energy that the very afterlife is made of. this energy depending on its quality can be on par with divine power. it is gained when living matter is converted into pure energy. another power they gain after being crowned. is influence, the afterlife is huge. there is no measurement i can give you to satify the total realm of the afterlife. influence is how far a liches presence within the soul realm spreads. the further it spreads the more likely those very souls can be called up for service. another thing is calling a lich a necromancer is derogatory. necromancers can use licks of necron to give bodies "life" however these bodies are souless and crafting anything more than that is a mammoth task. liches on the other hand can not only directly bring souls to the mortal plane to drive dead vessels, they can forge greater beings from scrath and even directly peirce tge realms to open gates to the afterlife. doing this can bring entire ghostly legions to the world. think of liches like kings. there are only nine in existence. with the king of kings (the mc) being the first ever to bring forth much greater force. let alone control far more. i hope this answered your question.
