"Okay, it's three thirty in noon. We have an hour and a half to get Nicole and some important documents. We need to hurry but we can't afford to fuck up. There is honestly no guarantee we wouldn't end up dead if we do make a mistake. So everything you do, do it mindfully. And thoughtfully."

I nodded, while Xavier tightened his hold on my hand, to reassure me. It felt good, to finally have someone. Finally with him. I was tired of being tired. Alexander snuck in some pills for me, to refuel my blood level. I felt energetic, which was probably the pills.

But it felt good. To be out of that cell. Or whatever it was. I had never dealt well with being confined. But I wasn't gonna think about it right now. I knew healing was going to be hard, not just healing from the past few days but my whole damn life. It felt like I had been stubbed by cigarette all over again by the same people.
