OPHELIA'S POV

There was something about Xavier that had changed. I wasn't sure if it was the light in his eyes that didn't leave even once, or how careful he had become with his life. How he seemed to check the streets before crossing them and how he didn't forget to put on his seat belt while driving.

How he didn't look like he didn't care if he dropped dead the next second.

Whatever it was, I was glad this change had occurred. I had eleven days left, and if things stayed like this, I knew I was bound to succeed. 

Xavier was bound to live.

"You know, you pout when you are deep in thoughts. It's adorable."

I swatted his hand away. I didn't want Mrs. Matthew to catch us talking. She was the new History teacher. She didn't seem so bad. Apart from the fact that she was completely perfect. I mean, that is unheard of.

I leaned into Xavier and whispered.
