"Look I got a B-!" I say, showing Lucas as he comes through the front door.
"I see. I'm the one who graded it silly."
"You know what, I'm going to hang it on the fridge like the old days, but instead I hung up drawing because my elementary tests sucked."
"And I'm the ones who graded those too." He says, laughing.
I made a displeased expression. "Don't remind me."
"You ready for that ice cream?"
"Yes! Where should we go?" I say excitedly.
"Dairy Queen? Or the towns ice cream."
"Dairy Queen for sure."
"Alright, let's head out." He says, grabbing his keys from his pocket.
We made it to the destination. We are in the parking lot thinking about what we should get. I have my phone out with the website pulled up.
"What are you getting?" I say, asking him.
"The regular. Vanilla ice cream." He says, handing me back my phone.
"You are so plain. We should get two different kinds of blizzards and try them."
"You lead the way. I'm up for anything."
I hand him back my phone. "I already know what blizzard to get."
He skims through the choices. "Alright, let's go get dem blizzards."
"Welcome to Dairy Queen. What can I get you, two lovely people?"
"A medium oreo cheesecake blizzard," I say, happily.
She types it into her screen. "And for you sir?"
"The Royal Rock Road."
"Medium as well?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Okay, you guys are all set. How will you be paying."
Before Lucas could speak, I interrupted him. "Cash," I say, pulling out a twenty from my back pocket.
"Bell it's okay. It's my treat. I'm paying."
I hand her the twenty. "Too late."
"Well, aren't you guys the cutest couple."
We both look at each other confused.
"Oh, we aren't dating. I'm her baby sitter."
I gave him a what the fuck look.
"My bad." She says in embarrassment.
Lucas grabs a couple of napkins at the front. "All good."
We sat down at the tables inside. She comes out, holding two ice creams.
"Here are your two blizzards. You guys have a wonderful day."
I take the cups. "You too!"
Lucas opens the door as I'm carrying the blizzards.
"Did you have to say, babysitter?" I say with the bright sun shining into my eyes.
"What did you want me to say? Hey, I'm with my student getting ice cream."
"Okay, you got a point, but she doesn't know the story behind why we are together."
"Yes, but she will probably assume the worse." He says, talking over the car.
I open the passenger door with my one free hand. "What's the worst?" I say, getting in the car.
"What do you think?'
I set the blizzards in the cup holders and buckled up. "You tell me."
"Bella. A relationship."
"Yikes, I didn't think of that."
We pull out of the parking lot, and we are now sitting at a red light.
"You know what. Let's eat it at a park." I suggest.
"Good idea Bell. The weather is nice out."
"There is a park near here. Turn left when you get past the second light."
We made it to Grove Park. There is a table with a bench we can sit at.
"Let's try these babies," Lucas says, pulling up two spoons.
"Try mine first and make sure you get the cheesecake. It's amazing."
I slide the cheesecake to him. He hands me a spoon.
We both scoop our spoons into the oreo cheesecake blizzard.
"This is amazing." He says, licking his spoon.
"Yes sir! Let's try yours."
Lucas brings his cup to the center.
"Not bad," I say, going in for another scoop.
Lucas wipes his face with the napkin. Let's bring the ice cream and walk down to the water.
"Open up." He says, waving the spoon around like an airplane.
I open my mouth and took hold of the spoon after he lets go. I laugh. "I'm not a kid."
"You sure about that?"
"I'm almost an adult," I say, crossing my arms with the blizzard in my arms.
"Almost."
"Okay, Mr. Till you are old."
He pauses and doesn't say anything. He dips his spoon in the cup of cold ice cream and flings it at me.
"Lucas!" I say, flinging ice cream back.
We flung the ice cream until it vanished. It's all over us and the ground.
"We are a mess. Let's go home, and you can take a shower at my place."
We get back to my house. We are all sticky. We walk in, taking our shoes off.
"I'm going to go use my bathroom in my room to shower, and you can use the one down the hall. I will go you a clean shirt from my dads closet."
"He won't mind?"
"No, but I would think that he would ask for a reason. We can just tell him you spilled juice all over you."
"Good plan. I will be in the bathroom. I have to pee real quick."
"I will set the clothes outside."
"Okay, thank you." He says, walking off to the bathroom.
"Hey, I got the shirt."
"Come in."
I walk in with my dad's shirt in my hands. I stare at Lucas. He has his shirt off. He is just in his pants.
"Here is your shirt..."
He takes the shirt out of my hands. "Thanks."
I scratch my neck. "I'm going to go take that shower now."
He sets the shirt on the counter. "You do that."
I shut the door behind me. I lean on the door with my back. That was so weird. I think he caught me staring.
I finished my shower. I put on short shorts and my favorite tank top. I massaged oils in my hair and wrapped my hair in my towel. I walk out to the kitchen to wait for Lucas.
"Lucas, your phone is ringing! It's my mom!"
"Can you bring it to me!"
"Yeah!"
I walk to the bathroom where I see Lucas in a towel. The towel is low. Water is dripping off of him. I feel like I'm in a movie.
"Bella."
I look up. "Yeah?"
"The phone?"
"Oh! Y-yeah." I say, handing his phone to him. I walk out. My heart is racing. He definitely saw me stare. I got to the kitchen to wait.
"Hey, your mom said she will be home late along with your father. She wants to go to dinner with your dad, and they asked me to stay."
I set my phone down. "Oh, okay."
He sits down at the table with me."Since you bought ice cream, I'll buy dinner."
"Good because I'm starving."
"We just had ice cream."
"I'm a hungryyy girl."
"Oh, I know. What do you want to get? We will have to order and have it bring it here."
"I'm in the mood for Chinese. What are you in the mood for?"
"Chinese it is."
"You didn't answer me," I say seriously.
"Chinese sounds good, so Chinese it is."
"Okay, then." I went quiet to think of a Chinese place near here. "Oooo, can we get panda express?" I say, blurting out.
"Never had it, but I'm up for something new."
"Shall I pull up doordash?"
"Yes, ma'am."
We took a minute to order. I got grilled teriyaki chicken and chow mein and for Lucas got the original orange chicken along with fried rice. We also got cream cheese rangoons.
"Okay, the order is placed!" Lucas says, handing me my phone.
"I'm now going to stalk the driver."
He gives me a long stare with a smile.
"You okay Lucas...."
He snaps back into reality. "Y-yeah."
"Wanna go watch a movie while we wait?"
"Yes!"
The door dasher arrives with our delicious food. We chose to eat in the living room where the movie is.
"You have a little white something on the corner of your mouth."
I roll my eyes. "I always have something on my mouth." I try licking my mouth. "Did I get it?"
"No, let me." He says, taking him thumb and wiping the corner of my mouth.
"T-thanks."
"No need to thank," He says, scooping up his rice and consuming it.
Right now its 9:18. I'm unsure of the whereabouts of my parents. It's getting late.
"Am I spending the night?"
"I would think so if my parents don't show up. You can either sleep on the couch or in the guest room."
"I will do the guest room."
"Okay, then let's get you situated if you do plan on staying."
The guest room is across my room.
"Do you want a softer pillow? I have an extra one in my room. The pillows in here aren't so soft."
"Yes, please."
"Alright, follow me." I grab a pillow from my bed. I turn around to see Lucas looking at my wall of art. I walk up next to him.
"You never told me you did art."
"Never asked."
"Can you draw me one day?"
"Of course! I would be glad too." I hand him his pillow. "This good?"
He yawns. "Yes, and this pillow is making me sleepy."
"You can go lay down if you would like. I might do the same."
"I might do that."
"I guess I'll see you in the morning."
"Goodnight, Bell."
"Goodnight, Luke."
I'm in my PJs and I'm ready to go lay down and relax on my phone. I go to Tik Tok to close my night in. I get a text from Lucas. I exit out of the app and went to his text. It's 11:15. Time flies when you are on that app.
