Very nice so far, I think this is a pretty solid start to your story, I think the foreshadowing with the flashback to the red eyes then looking into this mans red eyes at the end was a nice touch. Even though I'm not positive they're the same person still great way to end the chapter. :)

😲😲 I was searching for a new hidden gem book and I think I have found it. This is a great solid start, and it certainly keeps people captivated from the first chapter. 🤔 The step mother must have told some kind of lie to make her father act like that. Maybe something like "That girl isn't your real daughter, and your ex wife cheated on you?" scenario?
