"Danielle!" The shouts of my stepdad echos in the house as he calls out my name.

"It's not your fault. Useless child" Derrick, my stepfather says.

I hate him so much. What does my mom even see in him!

He is always drunk, his breath stinks like onions and garlic had a baby, he has no ambition for his future. He doesn't even know Yoruba, my mom's language. Disadvantage if marrying outside your continent.

"Yes, baby it's not her fault. It's her stupid Dad's fault for leaving all his property in the hands of a sixteen years old child. It's because of that money she has a mouth. Nonsense." My mother says to me. I see she was only with my dad for his money.

"You're still here! Get out of here my friend!" My mom shouts and I run back to my room and make sure the door is locked.
