Real Life

*The Next Day*

By the time Maddy had woken up, it was already one in the afternoon. She groaned as she checked the time, but hey, one is better than two. She slowly sat up and wiped her eyes that had been glazed over. She felt her hair fall to her cheeks. She ran her fingers through her hair, feeling her natural curls.

"Long time no see miss curls." She said to herself.

She slowly made her way into the living room to see if Emma had woken up. She had, and Maddy could smell the scent of oatmeal.

Contrary to popular belief, Maddy actually liked the taste of oatmeal, with maple syrup of course. She wasn't a psychopath. Maddy immediately rushed over to the stove, where Emma was standing, and waiting for the oatmeal to be throughly cooked.

Maddy threw her arms around Emma's waist and shouted a loud "THANK YOU" in Emma's ear. Not only did Emma jump at Maddy's sneaky hug, She swatted her roommate away once she had turned deaf.

"Do you absolutely HAVE to scream in my ear like that?" Emma asked in an irritated tone.

"I'm just showing my gratitude for your cooking," Maddy started, sitting on one of their Coca Cola themed barstools, "Plus, y'all always annoy me and never stop, so why shouldn't I fuck with you?" She joked.

Emma rolled her eyes and turned the stove off. She opened the top cabinet and brought out two bowls. She poured an even amount of oatmeal into both of the bowls and poured some maple syrup in addition to some blueberries and raspberries on both hers and Maddy's dish, knowing her best friend better than Maddy herself did.

"Voila! Bon appetite mon ami." Emma said with a flourish, coming to sit down.

"Merci beaucoup mademoiselle." Maddy replied.

The two clinked their spoons together and began to eat.

Although the two were in their twenties, they ate as fast as toddlers did. Both Maddy and Emma scarfed down their meals, and scraped every grain that was left before rinsing the bowls and putting them away.

"Now THAT, is what I call breakfast." Maddy said with a loud heave.

"I'll second that." Emma said.

*3 Hours Later*

The rest of the day was filled with being lazy, scrolling through Instagram, Twitter, and watching every single episode of Miss Marple (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT).

It had been at least four hours of doing anything productive, so Maddy decided to make a plan.

"AYO EMS!" She yelled.

"WHAT?" Her roommate answered from the adjacent room.

"WANNA GO GET FOOD?"

"WE JUST ATE LUNCH!" Emma screamed back.

What? Maddy asked herself. It took her a second to remember herself eating a cup of ramen. Maddy shrugged it off, and decided to listen to her growling stomach.

"YEAH BUT THAT SHIT DOESN'T COUNT!"

"FAIR POINT, WHERE YOU WANNA GO?"

Maddy thought about it for a second, and finally settled on something.

"POPEYE'S IMMEDIATELY!" She screamed, sitting up straight.

She could hear her friend giggling at Maddy's set-in-stone decision.

"Alright then, it's a plan." Emma said, walking into Maddy's room.

"Thank youuuuu." Maddy grinned, shooting a wink at Emma.

And with that, the two were off to stuff their faces full.
