This was an interesting chapter, so I will leave some interesting food for thought in the following: 1. I still advocate for Ma Ping to either not take those evil pills or not realize the true identity of the human ingredients. Even If he was a self-righteous character or someone who can turn a blind eye for the greater good, his Dao and character shouldn't be tainted so off-handedly. For a general on the side of good or the orthodox, the source of his power and comeback should be righteous so that even the Heavens cannot say too much against the righteous and militaristic Dao he follows........He shouldn't be lumped together with those low grade sect elders who allow their greed and hypocrisy to overrule their hearts. 2. Isn't the Gold Element ridiculously OP now? The route of Elemental Upgrade is basically suicidal for most people, since it seems too dangerous and suppressive for most sects and talents. As such, I hope Cao Mao is smart enough gather more elements so that he can create a new element yet follow one of the different paths without the ability to remotely detonate others......It is not like he is talentless trash without any system or resources after all, so he shouldn't have a problem choosing one of the different paths that was mentioned in Arc 2(?) and probably has different rules. 3. Before they start killing off tons of mortals and resident cultivators, Ma Moxi should really start thinking of ways to change the pill recipe into normal type that doesn't rely on human body parts, since he is not trying to build an army of heretic practitioners.....as far as I know. As for his other requirements, it sounds like how needs a physician to help strengthen the body of the soldiers, but Cao Mao should really get some recipes, books, or needs from them. Their knowledge and clones will help immensely in his efforts to strengthen his wives and subordinates along with any other targets. 4. Will this Dao Contract act similar to [Heresy Nemesis] and [Fate Stealer] abilities in the Re: Monster novel? I assume that Cao Mao's Providence will affect his followers, allies, and associates to varying degrees, since that is usually the case for most protagonists. Moreover, it would really suck if all his potential and luck would disappear, since it is not like he has to completely give up the date of being a chaotic good character, like how Shiro (Fate Stay Night) choose to follow Tohsaka Rin (to refine his abilities more and become a hero) instead of choosing Archer's original freelancer path to becoming a hero..... 4. Well, from how quickly things are going downhill, I hope Cao Mao is smart enough to send Ma Moxi to assassinate the Qiang Clan's head elders/officials with one of his secret poisons. By doing so, he can frame everything on the Poison Pavilion and the Liu Dynasty......He can even choice to save their lives by mentioning his master's hatred for the Poison Pavilion, allowing him to gain their lifelong gratitude and trick them into warning others of the Poison Pavilion's connection to the Liu Dynasty or Liu Bian.

Or is he going to say that he merely recalled the memories and unfinished desires of his past incarnation? .....Well, in either, he at least gave up on that ludicrous request of Essence Cores, but after seeing the ingredients, I am starting to think all Alchemy is actually evil now. I would think that the Dantian of a Flame Crow and the Sap/Fragments of a 500-year old Winter White Peony Tree would have been 100 times more acceptable as ingredients than those human ingredients.

Thanks for the chapter Wow, Moxie was the perfect counter to Cao Mao with his gold and wood elements. Cao Mao could have died easily and the funny thing is he was unaware of this fact. Luckily he managed to obtain Moxie’s heavenly fate and remove the threat. On the other hand Lu Bian has advanced, I feel that Cao Mao is going to need more help. Now that Cao Mao has Moxie’s harem protagonist heavenly fate, he should have better luck with women. I’m looking forward to future chapters.👍
