Chapter 1prologue

If you had to choose between two evils what would you do?

I had sweat dripping down my face as I was making a run for it with my little sister in my arms.

If they catch us we die. It's that simple.

Honestly, at this point, I didn't care about my life. It was Lucy. She's so young and I needed to protect her at all costs. I don't think I would ever forgive myself if she got hurt in any way.

"Wait here," I whispered into her little ear, in a hushed tone hiding her near the debris of a collapsed building. The sky is a murky gray thundering above us and death reeks in the air, the pungent smell choking us slowly. Earth is no longer safe for us anymore and there is nowhere else to go. This is the reality I was born into. It's hell on earth.

"I'm gonna go look for help okay?" She nodded muffling her sobs.

I looked around to see "them" patrolling the streets.

They were built like giants, abnormally tall to be human but there was a vicious aura that surrounded them. They Wear masks with markings on them and armor similar to spacesuits but unlike any, I've ever seen before. just by looking at them, you can tell their civilization is far ahead of us.

These beings weren't from this world and they came to our planet without warning and took everything we ever had in a blink. We didn't stand a chance.

And they called their race Zakaėri.

I stuck to the shadows trying to find a way to get to the northern refugee camp and get help. it's The last one standing in the north and the only hope I and lucky have for any kind of survival. Without Mom and Dad anymore we are unlikely to stand a chance out there but I had to try.

I took a few more steps assy from the building everything spiraled at that moment making my heart drop to my stomach.

A beast.

It looked monstrous almost like it came out of a movie. I had an inkling as to what it could be. we heard whispers about the hounds Zakeri used to wipe us out. To kill all humans. I'm looking at one right now.

The creature's blood-red eyes were on me the moment my breath hitched.

And I did the only thing my instincts told me to. I Ran.

I Ran so fast trying to divert its attention from the building I kept my sister in. I didn't care where I was going as long as it didn't find her.

My lungs burning and my heart throbbing, I wasn't paying attention to where I was running and the moment I glanced back and looked ahead my blood ran cold.

Whimpering I couldn't stop running. All I could do was escape the demonic creature that was chasing me and head straight towards another demon itself.

But it's too late now.

Closing my eyes I ran straight into the arms of a zakaeri. Waiting for my inevitable death.
