Great News

"It says here you are a slime." Vordu said.

"Oh? What if I am?" Akiol responded.

"Then we would have only a slight issue, considering all this was created to prevent the guild members for overestimating themselves. However if you're a slime that makes things easier for both of us."

"How so?"

"Since slimes, if my information is correct, are nearly invulnerable. This allows us to just put your level as the strength shown on the device."

Akiol pondered for a moment, if he could simply get his rank without much effort it would be a great opportunity. However he was a bit skeptical, so he asked, "Are there any downsides to this?"

Vordu responded, "A bit yes, if your extremely skilled or are able to absorb higher tiered entities, your rank would be lower. We could still do the test if you want to."

"Then I'll just take the rank. The test seems a bit troublesome."

"You're confirming your a slime then?"

Akiol smiled faintly, "Yeah, it isn't a huge secret anyway."

"Fantastic! It has been many decades since mankind has ever seen a slime. The last one was a catastrophe grade too. Please follow me to my office, I shall set things up there." Vordu responded excitedly.

Akiol followed Vordu, by the looks of it their office was on the top floor. When they entered what Akiol saw was not an office.

It was more like a museum, there were strange objects encased in glass. Trophies of monsters hanging on the walls. As Akiol examined the objects Vordu sat behind a large desk, shuffling through papers and such.

Vordu cleared their throat and said, "Do take a seat, I simply have some questions I need to ask."

Akiol sat in an ordinary wooden chair, you would think that such a nice office would have better chairs. However it didn't cause discomfort for Akiol, another benefit of being a slime.

Vordu pulled out a sheet out of the stack of papers. Quickly reading through it he asked, "I first need your name and occupation."

Akiol responded with, "Akiol, for occupation I am afraid I do not have any."

Vordu chuckled, "Yes yes, of course you don't, do forgive me."

Vordu wrote some things down on the paper and continued, "First of all I would like to know where your kind is. We nearly wrote you as extinct until the catastrophe grade slime arrived."

Akiol didn't know if he could truthfully answer that, so he just responded with, "I don't believe I can say. I can say we aren't extinct however."

"Well that's some good news at least, what about you then? Why are you out here?"

"To get evolve of course, since I seem to be a tad different from the others."

Vordu nodded, "Very well then, I finished your contract, please leave a mana signature here."

He passed a paper and tapped a corner where a was rune inscribed. Akiol carefully read through the contract, something he learned from James. It simply was that any incidents or failures would be compensated or fixed by him. Also along with the various terms of the guild. Since he didn't know what to do for the mana signature, he asked about it.

Vordu explained, "Since forging signatures became quite common, a particular mage made this. It simply holds a small bit of your mana, and since everyone's mana is different we are able to tell if a document is legitimate. All you have to do is pour an insignificant amount of mana into that rune."

Akiol did that, and the rune glowed faintly, quickly fading as well. Vordu then collected the paper and stored it into a file. Turning to Akiol he said, "You are going to be ranked D plus, if you have any questions do ask."

Akiol asked, "The ranking then, what does that mean?"

"I assume you mean the adventurer rankings and quest ones correct? Essentially every quest has a difficulty rating. This is usually calculated by the type of monster, the tier of monster, and how much is in their group, if there is one. E ranked quests are usually for the general monsters out there. D ranked ones are a bit harder. The plus is just a small title, it usually means your stronger than a normal D class but weaker than a C class. Any ranked adventurer can take their ranked quests and one lower ranked quest. So a C rank cannot take a E ranked quest. Hopefully that clears it up for you."

"Then why did you say a catastrophe ranked slime earlier? What rank would that be?" Akiol asked.

"That's because S rank is the highest tier an adventurer can get, however there are still major gaps in strength between some S ranked adventurers. So any S ranked quest would have a 'descriptive word' for it. Catastrophe is usually meant for the strongest adventurers. Catastrophe monsters are capable of destroying cities, even kingdoms if they wanted to."

That meant there was another extremely powerful slime out there, Akiol wondered if it was stronger than the Slime King, or if it was the Slime King. Akjol figures he would ask the Slime King when he visited them next evolution.

He did have a final question, "Do you know an individual named Veryl?"

Vordu looked surprised, "Veryl? Why do you ask that?"

"I came across him and he told me that he was originally one of the founders of the Adventurers Guild. I simply wanted to confirm it."

"He indeed is, however we have been trying to get in contact for him for years. Would you mind telling us where he is?"

Akiol shook his head, "He said he wanted to live peacefully now. I don't want to disturb that."

Vordu sighed, "Figured as much, a shame really."

"Well if there is nothing left I shall be going."

Vordu waved his hand, "There is nothing, have a safe trip."

Akiol nodded and left, as he left the Adventurers Guild he received a message from Wrock.

-Great news, I came across Tilia. Meet us in Silverflight Town.- Wrock

This was indeed great news, Akiol hurriedly bought a teleport scroll. If what Wrock said was true then that would be the fourth part member found. Akiol guessed that if they continued at this rate, everyone would be found before level 100!
