It’s true though that we cope up on a very sad situation differently... i know there’s a lot more to the story specially the part how Calhoun got all his powers.... he might have sold himself to the devil and he needed Maddie to save her being that she is an angel... just my guess ... I commend the author though for giving us exciting chapters yesterday before the chapters today that is so deep... very good writing

Maddie cares more than she knows. Hearing this from Calhoun and feeling badly for him instead of being appalled and running away shows that she’s trusting him.

the saddest thing is, how did he manage to do all that and laughing when he tells her that story. Must be hard for you Milord. Thank god there'e Maddie for you in the future

years or hardship and castle politics made Calhoun a beast... I wish Madeline can change that.. I feel sad for him though

Madeline is right. There's always a reason people behave the way they do. But the way Calhoun speaks of it is scary. It's like he's used to being hated and taken advantage of so it's hard for him to pull down the walls he created around him too. Somewhere, in his dark world, he's not sure Maddie will love him unconditionally. I hope she heals him someday
