Calhoun is so cunning and vicious , it was rude of him to manipulate the letter written by Maddie, but interesting at the same time as he used the trick of picking a thorn with another thorn. I couldn't help but laugh when i saw the reaction of Beth. Calhoun could read people so easily, anyway he caught not two but 3 birds with one stone, a lil soft spot from Maddie, sulkiness of Beth and to the last the mother who wrote a secret note. Clever.

Myself, I’m loving that Calhoun changed the letter as he did. It tells me that he knows that Beth wrote the letter from James and he also let her mother know that Maddie isn’t going anywhere. Like Damien with Penny, these are al necessary steps to get her to come around to loving him, but he really is less cruel to Maddie than Dami was to Penny.

As always, the malicious King Is a Master of Words & changed things to his favor. Indeed the king only works and does things to his advantage only 😂🤣

Don't get me wrong but I love Maddie's mom. She truly loves Maddie and does not think about the benefits she could bring to the family for being with the king.

Gah I love how he can see right through people. Beth is not a good person, she's a materialist. She is shallow and Cal knows it. I wish Maddie would understand how he really is looking out for her. Yet, still causing mischief.😋

This chapter is a breath of fresh air. Often times, men are portrayed to be direct, domineering, and so forthcoming. It's rare to see a ML with such cunningness. Everything is a chess game to him. He is bad and he knows it and relishes it. I love it.

SorRy but beth deserves this. she pretty muCh sent james, an innocent man to his potential death bc of her selfishness amd jealousy. I hope cal Uses this to point that out. fankly, id be pissed off of my sister did that. i Understand that beth is mad, actually no i dont understand, ppl have the right to choose who they want to be with and beth should have gotten over it and not began tricking ppl with letters.

This is the first book from Ash that I am reading. Although I haven’t fallen for the king, I love his personality. Kudos to the author! The writing is very clever, humorous, and devious!!

Ah... the king is sneaky! that’ll make It even harder for Maddie to trust him! but I am gleefully thrilled that Beth got angry! She deserves it
