Strip Club

[Adrian's POV]

"Sorry. I gotta answer this real quick."

Adrian slowed chewing and trailed his gaze on the shorter man's back. Through the rowdiness inside the pantry, he watched Johan hurried away from their table and exited the food pantry to answer the suspicious call.

Was it necessary for Johan to go outside? And who would even call him at twelve midnight?

Adrian gripped the plastic bottle and gulped down water to wash away the food clogging his throat.

After months of having lunch together, Adrian had observed Johan enough to know he disliked phone calls. There were times he witnessed him staring at the caller ID but won't pick up, intentionally ignoring the call. Once the person on the other line hung up, Johan would either reply through text or resume eating as if the call never happened. To see Johan answering on the first few rings felt odd.

'Could it be... his ex-boyfriend?'
