Chapter 70: Lignum Vitae Wands

A lignum vitae wand is any wand that is crafted out of wood from a lignum vitae tree. More specifically, a lignum vitae wand is any wand that has a lignum vitae shaft, a lignum vitae handle, or both.

Lignum Vitae Trees

Lignum vitae (Guaiacum officinale) is one of several trees referred to as an iron wood tree, so called because of the incredible combination of density, strength, and toughness of its wood. Lignum vitae, which is Latin for "Tree or Wood of Life", gets this name due to the many medicinal uses of its resin and wood. Native to Jamaica, it has been use in Europe since the beginning of the 16th century. Lignum vitae is also commonly known as Guaiacwood, Gaïacwood, and Roughbark Lignum vitae.
