Betty suspected everyone. They'd trained that way. She dropped the Colonel off at the Detachment and drove back to base. She drove carefully, but her mind concentrated on how to investigate the command team without tipping them off. Nothing annoyed a superior officer more than discovering they were the subject of an investigation.
What made things harder was the base formed an isolated community with minimal contact with the outside world. There was no possible way she'd be able to do anything without O'Neil finding out. O'Neil was the perfect ice cold bitch in public, but Betty had caught the Colonel a couple of times regarding the woman with a little too much warmth. She didn't particularly care about their relationship. It didn't appear to be affecting their work, but it wasn't the kind of thing an ambitious Lieutenant wanted to be made public.
