Was Flint's parents death truly a coincidence? Were the fire mages banished/massacred because of treason? I once set up the theory that the fire mages were banished/massacred not because of treason it was because that they were considered as a threat to the empire as they were too powerful and someone then mind controlled them so they were marked as evil and their injustice treatment then were justified. However, I want to add something. I suspect it was not only because they were just a threat. It has also to do something with Tilly's power! What do I mean of that? I believe they had to be sacrificed so that their power would pass on Tilly. Why do I think so? Please compare it like a fire. A fire that is fed and thereby spread further. Tilly is the fire whereas the other are her food. Please don't misunderstand me. The misery theory which I used to made up and seemed to be canon (lol) is about how to release Tilly's power but not how to gain the required amount of Mana to summon the sky beast! The other fire mages had to die so she could gain the requiered power to summon him. So she has to be misery to release the power whereas to gain the power the other fire mages had to die. Here are some examples: - The monster duchess and the contracted princess [Leslie, the protagonist should have been dead so that her power would be passed on her elder sister. However, what no one knows is that the power of all the sacrificed children in her family is restored in her. Even if she successfully would be sacrificed the full amount of her power would not be passed on her elder sister. A certain amount still would be passed on the next generation sacrifice. Here you guys can see this act of passing on the power through sacrifices. The other party then regains the power of the sacrificed one. - Yugi-oh As far as I remember you can sacrifice your present duel monsters on your field for a specific monster. The specific monster on your field then will regain their attack points and defense points! Tilly would be the specific monster in that example! But why would the power be passed on Tilly and not someone else? - I suspect it's because her power is god- like. If we compare it. All the characters we know as far just had an ability. Mind control etc. whereas Tilly can summon a beast and that beast is like a god. It was intodruced that even the Phoenix was the symbol of the fire mages. And in old times human sacrifices were made for a god, so that they could satisfy his hunger! All fire mages therefore are connected to the phoenix (Tilly). So if they die their power would be transmigrated to their god. Because the god is the one who give them the power if we would compare it to Avatar (lion turtles). Thus, Flint's parents death was not a coincidence at all. Even though they hid their identity as fire mages! Somehow someone got to know their identity! But this is just my opinion.
