There's a multiverse novel called "grandpa universe" that weights more to the wholesome side of the spectrum, the writer there made the main character enter a big universe (like the star wars one), and in the transition from one big universe to another he made various fillers of different, small universes (like promised neverland), and side-stories of his companions / people he met / previous worlds he's been to. Personally i like the story as it is, if you think the opposite, well, improving yourself won't hurt, maybe do some more small universes and a side-story to build up a good plot for another 'big universe'.

I think the mc despite the repeated mistakes he made in previous world like SW and HP and sworn to be smarter and accumulate power to be able to defend himself against the Borg God he never properly learned his lesson and likes to play God in every single world he comes to and have some inferiority complex that he try's to solve.i think it's better for him to be more shrouder and accumulate power and resources and knowledge unique to that world while doing his changes to the storyline of his current universe through subtler means and rarely make appearances himself and after achieving his goals in this universe live for another one and make steady and logical growth then thorough some misfortune and accident have gradual contact with Borg and barely flee from them and not an all out war for first time contact.

there is a very interesting idea in the fictional novel The King of the Worlds and 'Kingly adventures ".. where there is as well as you the common universe where there is emptiness and reality, where the super-being, like aspects, kings, deities and others who have achieved omnipotence to varying degrees.
