"What? Grandpa Lun??? But why him? I would understand if they wanted to ruin the wedding, but their target was Grandpa Lun? What does he have that they want? And who is the perpetrator?" The questions Isaac had were the same ones the rest of the group had.
With a grave expression on their faces, Bryan and Michael also commanded their men to join the search. Currently, there were multiple groups looking for Grandpa Lun. While all of them carried an unsightly expression on their faces, the door to the examination room creaked open.
Since they were standing quietly in the hallway, the slight movement caught everyone's attention. The second Kyla, Celinda and Selina stepped out of the room, they found themselves surrounded once again.
"Is everything alright? What did the doctor say?" Bryan held Celinda by the side of her arms, awaiting for her response.
"I'm fine! See? I am stronger than a bull!" Celinda arched her arms outwards with her fist aiming at the ceiling.
"You're pregnant. What bull are you talking about? You are as delicate as a baby chick." Bryan clipped the tip of her nose, letting out a deep breath. These days, he had been running errands and making sure to accompany her everywhere. Perhaps the auspicious event made him lower his guard subconsciously, he decided to separate from her during the wedding.
"I'm glad you're alright. I promise I won't leave you alone anymore." Bryan stepped close to where Celinda stood and minimized the gap between their bodies. He stroked in long slow movements on her back.
In the meantime, Kyla also found herself stuck in her husband's arms. She could still hear his heart thumping like he had just run a marathon and feel his deep exhales brushing against her neck. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left you alone. I promise this wont ever happen again. Nobody will be able to hurt you. I won't let my guards down anymore."
"My dear husband, don't tell me you'll accompany me everywhere including the ladies room. Geez, relax. I'm fine right now. Everything will be fine. That witch will be arrested, and you'll make sure she ends up behind bars. She won't be able to plot against me anymore. Relax, okay? You're more anxious than me, and I am the one who will give birth at the end." Kyla chuckled, roaming her fingers down to his hips and pinched him.
After a short conversation, everyone came to the conclusion that they should split up and go home. Everyone was tired from the sudden twist of events. Therefore, after visiting Jessica and bidding goodbye to one another, the couples went home in pairs.
On the way back home, Selina noticed the odd behavior and expressions on Jason's face. Then, it reminded her of the similar expressions the other guys had when they came out of the examination room.
"Hubby." Selina rotated her head to face Jason while he was focusing on the road.
"Hmm?" Jason didn't turn his head towards his wife. Instead, he tilted his head towards her direction slightly, signaling her that she had his full attention.
"What are you and the others hiding from us? I know something must have happened while Kyla and Celinda were having their body examinations. There are only us now. No need to hide anything from me. Even if you want to hide it, I will figure out eventually. So, what happened?" Selina deepened her voice when she asked these questions to express the seriousness of this conversation.
After a minute of silence, Jason released a long sigh. "Your suspicions were right earlier. There was something weird about Madam Wang's sudden appearance. Bryan also brought up some issues about what happened today. Then, mom called and told me that Grandpa Lun was missing. The last time he was seen was when he said he left the wedding gift in his car. He never came back after going to the parking lot."
"How? What about his guards? He always had bodyguards around him!" Selina remembered how his private guards were also present during their dinner last time.
"My men reported that they found a few bodyguards hidden in the high grass field a few miles away from the venue. They were drugged and left unconscious in the wilderness. But the odd thing is that they did not sustain any injuries, so we don't have a clue on who the perpetrator could be. We checked nearby surveillance cameras and somehow nobody suspicious was caught. Someone must have trampled with the recordings. And that person must be a highly skilled one."
Jason explained everything he knew to Selina while she slowly processed every detail he was telling her. By the time they've arrived at home, there was nothing but silence between them in the vehicle. Selina fell deep in thought, and Jason didn't want to disturb her.
"I still don't understand it. Why would they want to kidnap an elderly like Grandpa Lun? What could he have that whoever this person is would want?" Selina couldn't connect the series of events together as they had no relations to each other.
"Don't worry. We might not know why this happened, but Madam Wang most likely does. Although she lost her ability to speak, she still has fingers to write out what happened. There must be a reason why she attended the wedding and still act so confident despite stirring up a huge mess. And her husband can't get away from this either."
Jason continued explaining as he helped Selina unbuckle her seatbelt.
"She better has a good explanation for what she did. I hope Grandpa Lun is fine." Selina frowned as she remembered the elderly man's bright smile at the wedding.
"Don't worry. All of our men are searching for him. They'll flip the city upside down if they have to. Let's go home and settle down first." Jason suggested as he exited the car and opened the door for Selina.
At a certain distance from the couple's home, two individuals dressed in ink colored outfits sat on a thick tree branch. In their hands were a set of binoculars and a handheld transceiver. "Copy. The fish has swum home. Copy."
"I'm right next to you. Why are you using the annoying walky-talky?" The individual sitting on the right side of the tree branch said. He rubbed his ear as if the message just now had caused pain to his ear.
"Because it is fun. Boss told us to keep watch of the fish, so this is what I am doing. Don't I look cool with the shadow guard outfit?! By the way, who do you think this fish is for our boss to tell us to always watch her?" His partner, who was known to be the chatterbox of the team spoke enthusiastically.
"Who knows? I also wonder why she made you my partner. Don't question the boss's decision. Just keep watch as we are told. Boss usually follows the fish, but boss is busy tonight. If you keep using the walk-talky, you will give away our locations." Using the binocular in his hand, he continued observing Selina and Jason's villa from afar.
"Hurtful! Number 1, how could you be so mean?" She gasped dramatically while cupping her face in her palms.
"Number 2, I'll shove you down the tree if you want to know what's really hurtful." He clicked his tongue in annoyance, nearly rolling his eyes from her acting.
"Shhh, Number 1! You're too loud. You'll give away our location." She shushed him before he could say another word.
"You- Forget it." He mumbled, swallowing the words he would've spouted if they weren't on a mission.
