"Huh, where am I?" said a glowing orb in space, floating in nothingness.

"Wtf? Where's my body? Who am I? What's my name, why can't I remember my name?!"

'Ok, let's try to recollect what I was last doing. I was playing Minecraft when a crack suddenly formed in my room and sucked me in. Yep, totally makes sense. It's all a dream, a very weird dream, and I'm going to wake up soon.'

Hours passed to days, and the orb started to forget. It's family, it's friends, it's life.

What the nameless orb didn't know was that the longer you are in the void, the more that you forget, and your more important memories slowly fade away.

This void was once an underworld designed to cleanse and reincarnate souls. This place has long since lost its purpose and its very existence started to fade, causing residual energy still in the space, to form a void crack into the most unlikely of spaces, sucking in the most unlikely o0f souls.

Soon the orb realized what was happening, it did what any average orb, once human would have done.

It freaked the hell out, panicked, and desperately tried to remember what it was forgetting.

What it didn't realise was as the void didn't have an overseer or god to govern it, with there being no else but it; by trying to recollect its memories floating into the void, it unknowingly started absorbing the energy around him, strengthening its soul and allowing it to no longer forget. Unfortunately, what memories it lost were truly lost and the only memories left were the ones that had held little significance compared to what it lost, such as video games, maths, languages, science, what little it knew of history, and etc.

The orb, feeling stronger, and no longer forgetting his memories, tried to remember what was lost.

As time passed, it processed time differently while in the void. Seconds to minutes, minutes to hours, hours to days, days to months, months to years, years to centuries, centuries to who knows how long. The orb held onto his current memories for what he currently remembered was all he had left, and anytime not trying to remember them, he would again start to forget them.

This lasted for so long that the orb was able to absorb the entirety of what was left in the void. With a flash, brighter than any Sun, the cycle of reincarnation once again in action, with not enough energy left to remove its memories, and no limiter strong enough to limit how much energy it could absorb, the orb absorbed a whole realm's worth of energy. Now, what would happen if a soul absorbed that much energy? What will it achieve in its next life?

{Orb POV}

Slowly, I opened my eyes, greeted by a flash of light, then a beautiful woman crying and begging, to prevent me? From being eaten. I don't know what she specifically said, but it sounded a lot like, "Please my king, don't do this! Don't eat our firstborn son!"
