Chapter 3

Sarah had a horrible morning after that. Despite having a day off, she couldn't get over Salem. After wallowing in her sorrow for a while, it occured to her that Callum must have felt the loss more than her.

Feeling slightly guilty about not thinking of Callum earlier, Sarah made her way to Callum's apartment.

Knocking on the door, she waited for a response. Hearing none, she knocked again. After waiting for a while and still not receiving a response, she finally gave up and left.

Calling Alexis, she asked her if she'd seen Callum at work. Alexis worked at Target with him. Sarah had tried on several occasion to get a job at the same target, but it wasn't ever hiring.

"No, Callum hasn't been to work and I'd estimate that it'll be a week before he returns." Alexis said.

"I just visited his apartment and he's not answering."

"Yeah he's probably wallowing in self-pity." Alexis wasn't the best at understanding people's emotions. "Alright, I'm going home, then. Bye, Alexis." Hanging up, Sarah walked home.

On the way home, she spotted the neigborhood's delinquent little s**t. His name was Shawn and he was known for picking fights with random people, harassment, bullying, theft, assault, and threats. She had mixed with him in the past. She despised him as a person.

"Hey, b**ch."

'Well. He's starting strong isn't he?' She thought wryly.

Ignoring him, she continued walking, hoping to get to a spot with more people.

She felt his arm go around her shoulders and his hand rest upon her right breast.

"I was talking to you, b**ch." He said, annoyed.

She responded in kind. "F**k off." She shrugged off his questing hands. "I'm in no mood to deal with you."

"Oh yeah? There's no one around. What can you do to stop me?"

Sarah felt chills. 'Of course he's serious. He's a f**king lunatic.' He was too close to her for her to be able to reasonably be able to dial the emergency hotline.

Shawn tried to reach in between her legs, but Sarah gripped his wrist as hard as she could. "Don't touch me. Final warning." She pulled out a tazer.

Laughing, he kicked her hand and sent the tazer skittering away. "You're mine now." He said, dragging her into an alleyway. "Now that your boyfriend's dead, I don't need to worry." He licked his lips.

Sarah's brain started working overtime, processing the fact that Shawn thought she had a boyfriend.

"Since when did I have a boyfriend?" She asked, desperate for time.

"His name was Salem, I believe? Anyway, he's dead." Shawn said derisively. "Good riddance."

Hearing that, all of Sarah's anger, sadness, and rage finally burst out...in the form of a lightning bolt.

And then Shawn had realization hit him like a bolt of lightning....Oh wait.
