Chapter 28: The Skull Lord Cometh (Part 2)

The entire sky was filled with pitch-black clouds with an eerie Undulatus asperatus formation, surrounded by constant flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder. But the most horrifying aspect of the entire scene was the ominous skull shape in the middle of the clouds that seemed to be laughing at all creation beneath it; as if getting ready to devour everything that ever existed on that plane.

"This is... Oh, my Lord, This cannot be!!" Divine Sword Saint Nyler exclaimed as he took a few steps back; as if trying subconsciously trying to move away from the clouds.

"What is going on, Grandpa?" Janet asked, unable to take her eyes off from the sky.

"This is seriously bad!! It looks like these demonic swines have found a way to summon their God into this plane!!!"

"What? But why is there such a huge commotion? Even we have methods to summon Light Gods, summoning them never has such dramatic effects. Why does this seem so different?" Ashin asked doubtfully.

"Because we have never truly summoned any God into this plane!!" Asin said in a low voice.

"What do you mean? In the last war against the Scarlet Empire, I clearly saw..."

"That was just an Avatar of the True God, you dunce!" Asin immediately shouted out as he was unable to control his emotions anymore.

"Huh?!" Ashin was confused. Why was no one making the situation clear to him?

"Listen here, Ashin. True Gods have their planes and these planes are much above this plane. Normally, a True God wouldn't be able to step down into a lower plane as there are a lot of Laws that prevent it from happening." Nyler finally explained as he managed to calm himself down a bit.

"So, to borrow the strength of the Lord that you worship, you can summon an avatar that contains just a fraction of the enormous power of an actual True God."

"But right now, it seems that the monks inside this temple have found a way to summon their actual True God with all his strength into this plane. Do you understand anything now?"

"What the F#@k? What do we do now? Divine Saint, surely you have a way to deal with this fiend, right?" Ashin asked Nyler as he finally started to understand what they were into.

"It seems that the True God has not completely descended into this plane yet. We need to rush in immediately if we were to wish to have a chance at stopping this obscenity." Nyler said as he immediately rushed to the doors of the temple.

"O' Divine Light, Lend me your strength," He muttered as his sword started glowing with a bright golden hue.

"All Perforating Thrust"

*Boom*

With just a single sword thrust, Nyler managed to completely demolish the entire outer gate. In a normal scenario, anyone watching this kind of display of power would have been completely astounded and would have given at least a few sentences in praise.

But now was not the time.

"Everyone, keep up with me. And be extremely careful," Nyler warned as he immediately rushed in, followed by the rest of the human party.

The Pool of Damnation

As the Soul Energy inside Jason's Middle Dantian kept on flowing out, Jason's consciousness kept on getting hazier and hazier.

In fact, if Jason would have really wanted to stop the flow of his Soul Energy, then the flow would have at least been substantially reduced. But as he subconsciously kept on thinking about releasing all the Soul Energy inside his body to help heal Jane, it was as if someone had opened a tap and left it open.

But on the other hand, Jane's condition was getting better and better. After all, she was a cultivator who had completely exhausted all her Soul Energy. So, her soul was subconsciously trying to absorb energy from its surroundings. Unfortunately, as Soul Energy was rare, the soul was not able to find Soul Energy and was slowly dying.

So when the immense and extremely pure Soul Energy from Jason started to flow out, her soul started greedily devouring that energy as a last-ditch effort to survive. As the soul kept on absorbing more and more of the Energy, her vitality kept increasing at a very rapid rate.

"Uhhh... What is going on here? What happened..." Jane mumbled as her consciousness finally returned and she started trying to get up. Suddenly, her head bumped into someone.

"Ah, who is this?" Jane tried to fully open her eyes as she moved the body that lay over her and sat up. But the moment she noticed the face of the person, she was taken aback and screamed out.

"Jason!!"

But right now, Jason had completely lost his consciousness. Even though his body still possessed an enormous of Soul Energy, the huge psychological impact of losing Jane and the sudden impact of the weakening of the Middle Dantian had taken a toll on his mind.

"Jason, wake up!!" Jane started shaking Jason as her mind tried to understand the situation. She was the one who was supposed to be lying on the deathbed as she remembered the moments just before she passed out of the corruption of the Pool of Damnation. Yet, why was she feeling more refreshed than ever before right now? And more importantly, why was it Jason who was lying unconscious while holding onto her?

'He is not waking up. And it looks like he passed out quite some time back. I need to check what is wrong with him.' Jane thought as she gathered a bit of her Soul Energy on her fingers and placed it on Jason's head.

As her Soul Energy passed through Jason's head, she found nothing. But she knew that if there was something wrong with Jason, then it had to be at his Middle Dantian. So she immediately directed her Soul Energy to that part of Jason's body. The moment the speck of energy reached there, she was shocked to the core.

'Just what happened to his Middle Dantian? Why is all of his Soul Flowing out so freely? Ah... ' Jane finally realized the reason why she managed to survive.

'Looks like my soul managed to absorb some of Jason's Soul Energy and thus was able to regain consciousness. But wait...'

'If I was able to absorb this Soul Energy, then that means...'

Suddenly, she had a foreboding that something very bad had already occurred. With trembling hands, she opened Jason's upper robes. But the moment her eyes fell on the Skull Tattoo on Jason's chest, her eyes widened with horror.

The Skull Tattoo, that was pitch-black before, had now become snow-white in color; the exact same color as that of Jason's Soul Energy!!
