Chapter 25: Finally Out

"Senior brother Ralph, It's me, Jason. Please help me."

"Huh?!" Number one was dumbfounded to hear Jason's voice coming from behind the door. Wasn't this boy supposed to be at the Pool of Damnation right now? How could he be here and especially inside this particular room?

"Disciple Jason? Is it you?" Number One asked cautiously.

"Senior Brother Ralph, you have to help me. I was passing by this corridor when suddenly my head felt heavy. Just before I became unconscious, I saw a person coming out of this room. Even though I couldn't see that person properly, I had a feeling that it was a female. Later, I found myself trapped in this room and am unable to escape no matter what I try." Jason replied pitifully.

'Oh Skull Lord! How did this happen?!! Doesn't that mean that the person in the Pool of Damnation is either that girl or an illusion conjured by her? This is bad!!! All other monks are currently powering up the formation beneath the Pool of Damnation. There is no one on guard. If that girl manages to escape, we would be in deep trouble.'

"Senior Brother Ralph, what are you doing? Hurry up!!" Jason said urgently. After all, he knew that Jane was running out of time and wouldn't be able to hold on for much longer.

"Wait, I will immediately get you out. Step away from the door."

"Alright," Jason replied as he moved towards the center of the room.

Soon, Number One started uttering an incantation. Dark elements started to compress into his hand at an astonishing rate. Suddenly Number One slammed both his palms onto the door.

Wham...

But contrary to Number One's expectations, even after taking the full brunt of his attack, the door held strong without any signs of damage.

'What? Did she use her soul energy to strengthen the barrier? Why would she go so far to trap this boy? Was it because she was afraid of this boy somehow breaking through and telling on her? But this boy is just a mortal. There would have been no way to even break a low-level barrier. Damn it, nothing is making sense.'

Seeing that the attack had no impact, Jason called out, "Senior Brother Ralph, what's wrong? If you are unable to break through this barrier, can you please hurry and get our Master? I am feeling scared inside this room."

'Damn it, it looks like we have to change plans now.' Number One grumbled inwardly. 'As this boy is not in the Pool of Damnation, there is no point in having all the other monks keep powering the amplifying formation. I must get them to seal the area and help ready the defenses against the intruders. If everything fails, I will just use the pill that Liaison gave me.'

"Disciple Jason. Do not panic and wait for a little as I get help," saying this, Number One immediately rushed to the place where all the other monks were gathered without waiting for Jason's reply.

For Jason, every minute was similar to an eternity. There were simply too many bad possibilities that could happen during this time. The thing which Jason was afraid of the most was someone going and killing Jane in the Pool of Damnation.

In reality, since Number One was unsure as to whether Jane had gone into the Pool of Damnation or escaped, he decided to ignore her for the moment and focus on setting up the internal defenses first. After all, even if she was in the Pool of Damnation, she would have long passed out and would be already on her deathbed since she had already used most of her energy on the barrier. So, Number One decided to ignore her.

But Jason did not know about this fact. So, all he could do was pace up and down the room as he waited for Ralph to come back.

After about fifteen minutes, Number One finally returned.

"Disciple Jason," Number One called out.

"Senior Brother Ralph, hurry up and help me," Jason immediately cried out.

"Do not worry, Disciple Jason. I have brought two other Elders along with me. Together we shall deploy the supreme grade technique Skull Triangle Explosion on the door. Move away as far as you can so that you do not get injured."

"Okay,"

Soon, the three monks started to cast a formation onto the door. Slowly, a magenta-colored triangle with a skull in its center appeared on the door. Once the formation was complete, the three monks looked at each other and nodded and immediately started to channel their Soul Energy into the formation.

Upon receiving Soul Energy from the monks, the color of the formation kept getting darker and darker. Soon, it reached a dark mulberry color and looked as if the skull in the center was about to come to life.

"Get back," Number One shouted.

'BANG'

A heaven piercing explosion took place, which directly disintegrated the entire door. Once the door was destroyed, Jason immediately came out of the room.

"Senior Brother, Elders, Thank you so much for freeing me."

"Don't sweat it, Disciple Jason. Elders, we are done here. You can go and help the other elders now." Number One said as he gestured to the other monks.

The other two monks immediately retreated, leaving Jason and Number One together.

Suddenly, another monk came running to Number One and said hurriedly, "We are in deep trouble. The intruders are already at the Outer Gates of the temple. We need to do something now!!!"

Number One nodded and said, "I understand. Please go back to your post."

As the monk left, Jason asked, "Senior Brother Ralph, is something wrong? I cannot understand what is going on..."

"Disciple Jason, I know that you have a lot of questions, but right now, we have very limited time. For now, just come with me." Number one said seriously as he put Jason on his back and vanished from the corridor.
