87 Chapter 87 - I'm not an angel

After he sent Kapoor away, Jeffrey approached him. After that, a few executives from Fox came to say hello. When he finally finished socializing with them, James Brooks ran over and said that a few producers wanted to meet with him.

No problem, let's proceed!

He spent more than an hour smiling, to the point that his face had gone stiff. By the time things finally quieted down, he was exhausted. He took a glass of wine and went directly to a couch and sat down.

"Mr. Williams, would you like to dance?"

Eric subconsciously showed a stiff smile. The girl facing him felt happy for a moment, only to see Eric shake his head.

"Sorry, miss. I am too tired."

"Oh, I'm sorry," the other party turned and left.

After rejecting the first two bold girls, no other girl came to disturb him, until a blonde with beautiful eyes and a gentle tone approached him.

"Mr. Williams, my name is ..."

Eric stopped himself from shrinking away.

I don't want to know what your name is. I just want to be quietly alone for a few minutes. Is that so difficult to understand?

"I am sorry, can I be by myself for a while?"

"Oh, sorry..."

My tone can't be so severe, Eric clutched his forehead and scolded himself.

After enjoying the quiet for a few seconds, a voice rang again.

"Eric, would you like some fruit juice for your hangover?"

Eric looked up again, only to see a girl with a charming face, carrying two glasses of orange juice.

"Of course, thank you, Miss Madsen," Eric took the juice from her.

Virginia sat down beside Eric and leaned against him without any trace of embarrassment. Her prominent chest softly rubbed against his arm. She said in a tone filled with resentment: "I'm glad you still remember me. You can call me Virginia, okay?"

"Okay, Virginia, um... Vicky?"

"Whatever," She said with a smile: "I see you have been rejecting a lot of girls. Do you prefer boys?"

Eric subconsciously raised his voice and denied: "Absolutely not."

"Oh, what a big reaction! Don't worry, I don't discriminate against homosexuality. I have seen a lot of directors who are like this, I think the minds of gay men are more delicate."

"Vicky, would you mind changing the topic?"

Virginia carefully looked at Eric's expression and nodded: "So you really are not gay. Then what's going on with you?"

"Didn't you see it?"

She shook her head: "I went to the restroom, and when I returned, all I saw was you rejecting the poor girls."

Eric explained: "I was too tired and turned down invitations from a few girls to dance with them. Maybe this made them misunderstand something."

"Oh, fortunately, I didn't invite you to dance, or else you would have driven me away."

Eric didn't want to talk about it. He realized it was a bit rude of him to refuse the invitations of so many girls in a row.

"So, what movie have you been working on recently?"

When Virginia heard his question, a feeling of loss grew in her heart. She often thought of Eric's words when she first met him and really thought that Eric created the movie Pretty Woman based on her beauty as an inspiration.

Unfortunately, she didn't get the heroine role. More than once, Virginia saw the crowds treating Julia Roberts like a princess. Every time, she couldn't help but feel a little envious in her heart.

Julia had not been famous before, but now the lucky girl had become a world-famous Hollywood actress. If she had taken the initiative that evening, perhaps she would be the one enjoying the fame. Thinking of this, Virginia was determined to embrace Eric this night.

"I just finished shooting a film. I played a rich businessman's wife, who ends up driving herself to the river to die."

"Oh, sorry."

Eric was embarrassed and didn't know how to answer. She didn't seem to be blaming him, and she wasn't really dead. But why did it sound like he was the killer?

Think about it, Eric Assured her: "You will be fine."

"It's hard to see hope, I'm almost out of options. I can't act as a pure girl, and in another two years, maybe I could only play the role of a housewife."

Hearing the two words - pure girl, Eric laughed. It seemed that Virginia had kept the words he said a few months ago firmly in mind. At that party, he just casually mentioned that her temperament and beauty did not work for pure and young characters. It was actually a compliment to her beauty.

He didn't care about the subtle resentment in Virginia's words. Hollywood has always been a patriarchal world. A woman with no power or background would have to play by the rules and try to please the ones on top if she wants to succeed.

Remembering his past life, even after ten years of work and struggles, he wasn't even able to go past the wall. He could only walk around in the periphery while watching the tall buildings and the prosperous hustle and bustle of the industry through small cracks.

"Vicky, do you want an opportunity?"

Virginia's eyes lit up: "Of course!"

Eric looked up and down at the ripe flesh of the woman dressed in a black dress: "But I'm not an angel. What can you give me in return?"

"Everything!"

The party had been going on for several hours, and many men and women were leaving in pairs. Perhaps they had feelings for each other, or it was just a simple one-night stand, or maybe they have reached a deal. Anyway, in a Hollywood party, love at first sight, like in fairytales, would never happen, and there would be news of people getting cheated from time to time.

The two of them took the elevator together to the underground parking lot. This season, the temperatures in Los Angeles were only about 10 degrees at night. With the cool breeze blowing late at night, Virginia, who was wearing a thin dress, sobered up a little. She regretted recklessly accepting Eric's deal.

She felt that she should at least tried to string the young director along and not appease his appetite, so she can reliably get the benefits. But now she only got a promise, if the young man didn't keep his promise afterward, she would have been played by him like a fiddle with nothing to show for it.

Suddenly Eric gently covered Virginia's body with a coat, and Virginia smiled at him and pulled it closer.

Forget it, it was a one-night stand, at least, the young man was very thoughtful.

They quietly discussed for a while and decided to go to Virginia's home in Malibu. When Eric came through the hotel doors earlier, he was surrounded by paparazzi. Those guys must be curious now if Eric would take a woman home tonight. He was sure that the paparazzi would be camping outside of his Beverly mansion tonight. Bringing her home now would be as good as providing material to the paparazzi on a silver platter.

It took him almost an hour to drive from the Hilton to Malibu even with no traffic jams on the way. Fortunately, the two of them were talkative, and awkward silences didn't make an appearance along the way.

He followed her directions to a small villa, north of the coastal highway, far away from the beach. He estimated that it would be difficult to see the sea, even from her second-floor balcony. Eric casually asked her: "Why do you live here?"

Virginia hung Eric's coat on the hanger and said frankly, "It's good to be able to buy such a small villa in Malibu. You don't think just because I've made a few movies that I would be able to afford a villa in Beverly Hills, do you?"

Eric shrugged, realizing that he had asked a stupid question. Thinking back to his past life, after Virginia debuted in Dune by director David Lynch in 1984, she didn't have any remarkable films to her name. Even after the nineties, she didn't have many good works and later shifted her focus to TV dramas.

As an actress, although she was famous to some degree, she had no box office appeal. Therefore all the film offers she received were low-cost movies, where the paycheck only reached tens of thousands of dollars.

After tonight, another woman's fate would be changed by him.

Anyway, after his appearance, Hollywood's history was bound to become a mess. So why not change history for his own benefit.
