It's currently 2:30 am and even though I'm still very sleepy I decided to get up and sit on my bed with my eyes closed for about 5 minutes. I didn't sleep that much since our schedule is too hassle, we're flying to Bangkok, Thailand for the UNICEF campaign which will be held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
Actually I was the one behind this project for our company. Since I am the only heir, I step up from time to time to prepare handling it, I thought this through the help of my best friend Leroy Marquez.
Leroy or Lee for short is my childhood friend, his parents are Uncle Hennery and Aunt Belle which are close to my parents. Lee is the only friend I trust deeply. I experienced all sort of things while studying, I've been in a few relationship but it always turns out bad for some reason, if not a player who is a douche, only likes to have sex, cheater or what, you also have those users who only date you for social status and fame, likes to use my money for their own interests and shows off to his friends. As for my friends, I can name a few but that's it.
After graduating I started training under our company while Lee decided to takeover their company for good. I didn't suggest that idea too soon since I'm not sure wether I'm ready or plainly scared. Lee is a man after all, no one will doubt his abilities specially his business handlings. We all know that the ideal CEO is mainly a man at it's most, if you're a woman then it might be questionable, that's how close minded they are. It's fine, I don't really doubt my capabilities that much but the panel needs to believe that I am indeed a success in the making.
You might think that it is way too judgemental of them but sadly that's how it works. It may be true that they cannot do anything because I am the only child, but I am still a woman whom they always underestimate and will try to dethrone me as much as possible. That's mostly how business works, you cannot trust anyone but yourself since inside jobs and framings of all sort are common in the industry. See they like to take credit for what that is not theirs, but I'll never let my guard down.
The UNICEF campaign funding is my first big project that was launched a few weeks ago, we've partnered up with the Marquez Media and Marketing Company which is the company in charge of public promotions. The project garnered a lot of attention from other companies as well as the President of the Philippines.
Since this is a charity and reaching out it received multiple positive publicity that's why we we're able to held the first global conference meeting in Bangkok, and we, the Ongpauco Investments and Corporation will be the leading host of the event.
While planning this project, I was not sure if this will catch attention globally since it needs to be influential, I initiated that as my goal especially because it will bring huge impact to our business and that will be listed under my name and doings therefore I took the risk. The first screening was a disaster, the panel didn't took my promotion seriously and even told me that the risk percentage was so high I will never make a single profit out of it for it will never work. Well I expected that, they will tear down every effort I will make wether it's good or bad mostly because it is me that they hated not my ideas or opinions.
I am beyond thankful for my parents who is always encouraging me to develop the campaign further, the funding itself is for a good cause but the the stockholders' motive isn't. I am also grateful for Lee, he was there for me through my hardest times, and because of his help my project was promoted worldwide and he did that to remind me that he will always got my back.
The greatest news however that I received after my promotion was promoted was that the president has called me, Mr. Benedict Valliente. He became the president about 3 years ago I think, and after that the Philippines' economy has been stable and poverty has been declining rapidly. He told me that he was very pleased about the campaign and he is more than willing to be a part of it. I gladly accepted his offer and further exchanged informations about the project.
My dad decided to launch my project and discussed it during the 2nd screening with the panel. It wasn't that chaotic compared to the last screening but that's obviously because they wouldn't dare to go against my Dad so instead they always target me. I presented the recording of my conversation with the president and they were quite shocked to hear the news, some even pointed that maybe I fabricated the whole situation, they literally had the guts to insult me that day. Eventually I was able to make them believe that I had no motives to do that and that my intentions was clear so some finally agreed to launch it upon my Dad's approval.
4 days after the screening it was finally launched to the public, I adjusted a few details and even added different ideas from the panel. I also did a photoshoot with Lee as a request from the UNICEF headquarters and it turned out smoothly. I decided to hold the global conference at Bangkok especially because the holdings of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel was kind enough to contact me and bring support to my project, It was one of the most prestigious hotels in Thailand so I didn't even thought of refusing them for a second for further collaboration and future alliance, my Dad wanted to invest to their company for a long time now but has never gotten the chance to.
I was so excited for this event, this is my first appearance as the official successor of our company. I'm bringing along my Mom because my Dad wouldn't make it due to some business matters in Shanghai, China. Basically our company is widely known for it's malls, banks and other holdings globally and is mostly influential in Asia, Europe and America. So eventually I settled off of him not coming, I wanted him to be there because I won't be nervous if he's around. My Dad is my role model and it would be great if he'll see my achievement not just as an inheritor but also her daughter.
Lee will also be going alongside with his parents since they're the co host of the event campaign, we even had dinner yesterday to celebrate our successful launch so I felt relieved because I realized I have my Mom and them to support me. For the rest of the evening we continued to talk until maybe 11:30 pm we got home and decided to sleep a bit since my Dad already left for his business trip to China.
About 4:30 am Lee arrived at our house to fetch me while my Mom rode Lee's parents' car to the airport. "Have you slept Ong?, I saw your account online the whole night" Lee asked, "Stupid, I did but I forgot to turn off my phone's wifi" he looked at me deadpan in the eyes and tapped my head lightly, "stupid my ass Ong, do you want me to leave you here?" Lee threatened, "psh, as if Lee", I responded calmly before dozing off in the car.
"Hey Ong, wake up already or I'll lock you in here" Lee continued tapping me so I got up and immediately kick his thigh, "puñeta Kiella, I was just waking you up" he said annoyed. I quickly got off the car and headed to their private plane that we will be using to fly to Thailand, their staffs took care of our luggage and Lee ran up to me, "Ongpauco, wait" he held my arm that caused me to stop, I saw Tita Belle and my Mom near the plane waiting for us.
"Kiella listen, I know we always joke around but I want you to take me seriously right now" Lee blurted out and suddenly kneeled down that caused me to panic as well as the staffs and my Mom.
