11 Yang Yuhuan - Diary

*XXX XXX Sui dynasty

Her highness princess Huainan has officially been disowned and is sentenced to banishment...*

We started reading the records which were written in a diary form and became even more shocked throughout. We can't believe that these were all written down with detail as if the writer never wanted to forget it. We continued scanning the book and skipping a few pages.

From what we can tell, it was stated here that princess Huainan, which seem to be a princess from the Sui dynasty was banished from the land. She was found to have intimate relations with the son of the Gao which was against emperor Yang Guang and was planning on revolting. The Gao's was a very wealthy family, from brothels, casinos, trading, to teahouses, pharmacies, and hospitals. They were a powerhouse that was very hard to get rid of. The emperor, knowing that his daughter has the "hots" for the Gao's eldest son, used the opportunity to slowly destroy the Gao's. The Gao's were neutral regarding the fight between the empress dowager and Emperor Yang Guang and when the Gao's refused to support him, the Emperor needed to find a way to get his hands on the Gao's.

Princess Huainan and Gao Jin Shen knew of her father's tyranny and were against it. So instead of marrying each other formally, they eloped and princess Huainan got pregnant. This caused the emperor with great shame and anger. The empress dowager, knowing of her granddaughter's plan let them escape. In reality, princess Huainan didn't get pregnant until they lived on the outskirts of the kingdom. Gao Long, Gao Jin Shen's father knew that sooner or later, the Emperor will do something to force his family to support his tyrant ruling. As the females and children of the Gao family retreat together with Princess Yang Huainan and Jin Shen, Gao Long has already prepared for imminent war.

'The conflict between the emperor and Gao Long seem to have been cooking since way back in their childhood.' Iris said as she opened the second book that was placed below.

The anger of Emperor Yang Guang started from an early age, His father, Emperor Sui Wen favored this boy that came from Greece, Gao Long, more than him. He was always second in terms of archery, swordsmanship, music, languages, and even was rejected by a woman she likes because she had her heart set on Gao Long. Both of them didn't notice the envy that was slowly swallowing Emperor Yang Guang, they had a brotherhood, a strong brotherhood that they both treasured which was broken because of a girl. Or maybe it was already broken from the beginning and the Emperor just didn't have the courage to break it. It held on...the anger, and has caused a war.

'What year did Yang Guang die?' I asked Iris.

'618 A.D.' Anno domini... It made me pause for a second and think.

'During the middle ages.' I computed how many years ago the events in the book happened.

"A hundred and twenty-three years ago," I whispered.

Gao Jin Shen left his family to fight with his father against the emperor. The war lasted for 5 years. The war was won by the Emperor which killed the Gao father-son-pair. Their son, which was 5 years old only get to meet his father when he was two and on his grave. Emperor Yang Guang searched for the remaining Gao family and massacred them one-by-one on the span of another 5 years. Princess Huainan and his son kept on running, not staying in one place for more than a month but Emperor Yang Guang found them nevertheless. The young son of Princess Huainan and the people in the village that were residing there all died in front of him. The

His mother, which caught an illness, slowly lost her strength to the point that she can't move anymore. The only thing she can do was prepare for the imminent death before her. She used up all her strength to hide all the kids in the village. One-by-one they were questioned where princess Huainan's son was, and the villagers, even if offered riches, land, and position, knowing that their children were with Princess Huainan's son let the king's guards slit open their necks instead. This gruesome scene was seen by the ten children.

Soon the ten children who were hidden in various places were found and were also killed. No one dared to say where princess Huainan's son was, they all knew that they'd die instead of letting the Emperor do anything to the other hidden children. Only four of the children in the village have survived. They fled into the forests and only got to eat wild fruits and herbs.

'But...who wrote this?' Iris stated. She and I looked at each other. If this was really a diary, then the person who wrote it must've been with Princess and Gao Jin Shen since the beginning.

'It wasn't written in present-tense. If it was really a diary, there would've been and "I" or "My" that could pertain to ownership of the book.' We flipped through the pages and found that on the last page at the bottom right, it was signed by someone called "Shen Ling".

'It must be a girl.' We suddenly heard a loud thump, a door closing.

'We shouldn't stay too long, just grab the notebook.' Iris told me. I hid the book inside my sleeve and swiftly left. We stayed for 20 minutes in the treasury without even noticing it. We climbed back in the window of my bathroom and I quickly stripped my clothes. I cleaned myself for ten minutes so that the fragrance would stick to my skin.

I called out for their names and changed into new clothes while Iris kept the notebook hidden under a table. I told the servants to leave and I quickly went to my bed as Iris held the book out. Instead of scanning, we started reading it in detail, page-by-page. Iris and I soon learned that Princess Huainan taught the children in the village many languages. The writer of the diary wrote that the children were most interested in Greek. Only the writer learned greek fluently and would speak with the princess Huainan the most. The writer slowly got close to the son of princess Huainan and spoke to him the most.

'Looks like the son has a little crush on her.' I giggled at what Iris said. The writer mentioned that the young boy would always look straight at her without blinking. when she tries to get near he would always talk to the other kids.

'Ah, such innocent puppy love.' I said and sighed. It's so cute that the writer of the notebook thought that he hated her. They only got closer when they escaped from the massacre in their village. The girl eventually learned his name and even wrote it in fancy greek calligraphy.

*zzzzZZZZ-PANG!!!*

Iris jumped up and was scared of her wits while I almost threw the book on the ground. A bright light flashed out the window which was followed by a loud bang of thunder. It soon rained so strong that you can hear the roof rattling.

*Kriiiing~ Kriiiing*

A certain bell from my sleeve started ringing. It continued for a few minutes until it stopped completely.

"What the hell was that?!" I can see our hair standing up from the loud bang. It sounded like it hit something near. Iris was still frozen on her position hissing. I got up and opened the window, The three that was residing in front of the entrance of my courtyard was burnt down to the ground. I looked back at Iris which was still on her guard.

She felt it too...The feeling of something dark. It was very far from them, but it was really strong that the aura felt like it was right next to them. I couldn't help but tremble. This was the disruption.

The little cat didn't know what got into her, but she suddenly felt an imminent sense of danger. A feeling of something dark awakening. The kitty couldn't help but hiss even if she trembled in fear. With the blood bell ringing, she knew that it was serious, kitty knew that it had something to do with the group of sinister guys from before. The man that spoke greek to open a passage.
