Security guards stood by Lily's office, waiting for further instructions. She raised her palm when she saw them approaching her office. At exactly a minute, Lily spoke again. "Your time is up. If all you're going to do is stutter or stand there with an empty mind, then escort yourself out before my guards bring you out."
"Lily! We've worked together for years. Even if you don't see me as your boss anymore, you should think about the times I've helped you out. Which company would allow their employees with such flexible schedules, right?" Director Chu had no words at this moment. His mind focused on one thing only and that was to get her approval!
"First of all, my manager was the one who managed me for all these years. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't get any jobs. Did you hand me the resources or was it my manager who attended to my needs? Did I not attend auditions and gain the roles through my own efforts? So, tell me how you have ever helped me out?"
"Ah! You must have meant the time you cancelled my jobs and given it to the female artists who you fancied. I've known about what you've done behind my back, but never said anything to you. So, don't try denying this."
"You!!" He raised his voice as she continued speaking sarcastically to him.
"No? Then it must be the time when you tried coercing me into signing a full timer contract. Thank goodness you blacklisted me. That surely helped my career. I should be thanking you for your generosity in respecting an employee's decision. Very thankful indeed." Lily smiled as she leaned back on her chair.
Fury was written all over his face as if steam could be seen coming out from the top of his head. "Perhaps this is a great lesson for you to keep in mind. No matter how much power you have in hand, there will always be someone with more power. Rather than using the power, you have to force people who can't fight you, you should use it to help others."
"Oh, right. Businesses should be done fairly and equally. Even if my father is the one sitting in this chair right now, he would reject your proposal. Not only will your proposal not gain profits for our company, your underhanded methods would destroy our company's reputation. Anyways, if you insist on hearing my final decision again, I can repeat it."
Looking straight into his grim expression, her voice rung loud and clear. "Jiang Corps will not work with Chu Entertainment. The proposal remains rejected. Mister security guards, you two may drag him out of here. If he resists, then toss him to the streets. Remember, toss."
She purposely deepened her voice when she said to toss. Following her direct instructions, the security guards took action and started dragging Director Chu out of the office. As soon as he felt two strong arms grabbing his body, he snapped out of his daze and struggled to break free.
As per her demands, the guards threw him out of the company by the entrance. Immediately, people nearby formed a circle to see who got thrown out in such an unruly manner. Since he loved doing interviews and showing his face on media, it didn't take the crowd much effort to recognize him.
Everyone took out their cellphones and started taking videos of his embarrassing moment. When he was thrown out of the building, his pants ripped between his butt cheeks and he didn't realize it. By the time he felt cold air flowing through his butt, it was already too late because videos circulated all over the internet. His cartoon printed boxers became one of the top searches on social media.
As soon as the office resumed its regular peace and quiet, Lily sent a text to Lin Que.
Lily: "Honey bun, I sent two employees to your hospital. I just dealt with Director Chu and tossed him to the streets. My employees were shoved and shouldn't have suffered any severe injuries. I'm sending their bills to Chu Entertainment, so if possible, help them schedule body examinations you could suggest for their condition. Director Chu is paying."
Lin Que: "Got it. Are you free after work to grab dinner? We can shop around for gifts."
Lily: "Sure! Sure!"
Lily knew Lin Corps invested in different businesses, but she wouldn't have thought that the gifts she wanted to buy would also be part of the company. After work, she drove over to the hospital. When she got there, Lin Que had already finished writing the reports for the day and was ready to leave.
"Hi~~" She spread her arms and hugged him from behind in his office.
Chuckling from her initiative hug, "Hi, beautiful." He held the hands dangling down his shoulders and brought the back of her hands to his lips. When he turned around, he saw her in business attire.
"Oh yeah, you were at your office today!" He almost forgot about her victorious war with Director Chu.
"Mhmm. I tossed him out to the streets~" She asked as she took a seat across from him.
"I know. Videos of him are going around like hot cakes on the most popular platforms. Do you need the restroom or anything before we go?" He took off his white coat and hung it up in his mini closet.
"Nope. We can leave, Captain!" Like a child, she started laughing at her own words. Catching the soft giggles running from her mouth once in a while, he smiled at her silliness.
On their way to the branch store, he started playing songs from his phone while Lily sang along. Compared to her mood from the other night, she was definitely more joyful today. Using her rolled up fists as a microphone; she sang without a single care for other drivers around them.
Lin Que concentrated on driving, but would sneak a few peeks at her.
The car ride to the mall took half an hour. Since closing time for the branch is 8 P.M., he decided to bring her over to pick out presents first. Although he could make the store run overtime, he did not want to cause inconvenience to his staff. In addition to the fact that they were not in a rush to eat, he didn't see a point in extending the store hours.
The manager quickly spotted Lin Que when he stepped foot into the store. A few staffs were disappointed when they saw him with Lily. Lin Que was known to be low key about his personal life, so nobody ever found out much about him. Other than business matters, he almost rarely stopped by the stores.
"Mister Lin, you've come." The manager smiled politely and greeted the two professionally.
Nodding to her greeting, he quickly introduced them. "Good evening, Manager Shin. Lily, this is Manager Shin. And Manager Shin, this is Lily, my girlfriend."
Hearing his proper introduction, the staff tensed up subconsciously. Some felt like they've seen Lily somewhere before, but couldn't remember. Anyways, it was a rare scene to see their boss bring someone other than his mother, Lin Yao Yao to choose products. Therefore, they were on high alert and tried minimizing faults.
"There are other customers here. I'll show her around the store and call you if we need something." He held Lily's hand and started leading her to the tea leaf section of the store.
Feeling the tug on his sleeve, he leaned over for his ears to reach her lip level. Lily whispered, "I didn't know you would bring me to one of the stores your family owns."
Smiling, he said, "You'll get used to it. My dad purposely invested in this business because this was the place where he and my mother first met. They were both after the same tea, but there was only one jar in stock. Of course, both of them weren't willing to let the other purchase the tea."
"Oh? So, who bought the tea at the end?"
"My mother cheated and bought it. When my dad found out he looked very pitiful, so my mother split the amount in half. They somehow ended up exchanging contacts and would inform the other about tea events. After a few times of meeting up, they started dating."
As he shared his parent's story with her, they continued walking around and laying their hands on different products. Near the end of his story, both of them reached out to grab a jar of tea. It happened to be the last one on the shelf. Seeing their touching fingers, they glanced back at each other.
"Is this the tea that your parents were fighting over?" She let out a small giggle.
"Yep. It seems like we're also destined by tea." He winked jokingly at her.
"Oh? Then it's fated for this tea to be chosen for your father's present. After all, it did play an important role to bring your parents together." She handed him an empty cart where he then placed the jar into it.
After walking around the store, Lily found items she wanted to purchase. She also gave a few suggestions for presents he could choose for her parents. At the end of their shopping spree, they ended up having a total of five bags of items.
