I grit my teeth and shut my eyes, trying to push away the terrible thoughts in my head. The images of all of our corpses lying on the ground, the demon tearing Fiona apart to reopen the portal, all of this flood my mind. It clouds my vision. ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฌ! ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต ๐จ๐ฆ๐ต ๐ถ๐ฑ! ๐๐๐๐๐๐!

I hear Fiona's scream and it gives me a small moment of clarity. My eyes snap open and I see that Taleena's body isn't lying on the ground anymore, but is standing up looking at me. Her once beautiful brown eyes.....they are now inky black. The hole in her chest has stopped bleeding, and black ink covers the lacerations. With my last order, I had sunk into despair. I had no way of replenishing my mana, and the symptoms of mana withdrawal were getting worse. I was in no state to fight, both mentally and physically. I turned my head and saw Taleena and my minions fighting the demon and worshippers. I tried to push off the negative thoughts again and ignored Fiona's question as I tried to find a solution. I was low on mana, I didn't have any way to restore it, and without mana I would be useless. My only hope was to see if I leveled up and got something from fighting up until now.

These skills....I still didn't have an explanation for the new ones. I could only take a guess based on my previous knowledge of video games. I needed two things right now, one was a way to get my mana back, and two is a way to deal a significant amount of damage. I quickly allocated my points and prayed to whatever gods of this world that I picked right. I put one point into [๐๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐] hoping it would let me replenish most of my mana since I was low level, and the rest into [๐๐จ๐ง๐ ๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ซ]. I needed to do enough damage, so I had pumped as much as I could into [๐๐จ๐ง๐ ๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ซ]. The corpse....it began to melt. Flesh, bones, sinew, everything started to melt and turned into a puddle of....๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐?!?
After turning into sludge it started to evaporate and turn into a fine mist that immediately headed toward me. More specifically, it headed toward my mouth. ๐๐! ๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐...
I didn't even get to finish my thought as it forced its way into my mouth. All of these occurred in a breath as I witnessed it all in my heightened awareness, but the moment I got a mouthful it broke that state. The world returned to normal and all I had was the after taste of....death? I couldn't explain what death tastes like, but for some reason I knew this was it, concentrated and undiluted death.
I felt my head clear and warmth run through my body. It felt many times better than when I used [๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง ๐๐ข๐๐]. One would only slightly heal me and deal damage, but this would replenish both my health and mana at the expense of an entire corpse. The feeling quickly subsided, and I felt like I needed....MORE.
I ran to another corpse and did it again.....and again.....and...this was getting addictive. The feeling of taking an entire being and absorbing it was TOO addictive.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU MONSTER?!?"
"Eh?"
Fiona's scream once again snapped me back to reality. The [๐๐๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ] skills.... they are dangerous, even to me. An earth shattering roar tore through the night, I looked over and saw that the demon was missing its left arm, but Taleena was also on the ground in the nearby forest. ๐....๐ ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ฏ'๐ต ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ด๐ฆ ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ข๐จ๐ข๐ช๐ฏ.....๐๐ง ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ด ๐ข๐ฏ๐บ ๐ง๐ถ๐ค๐ฌ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๐ฏ ๐ดe๐ฏ๐ด๐ฆ!

I had already targeted a corpse to use. After so many times even I learn, and I didn't expect bones to magically materialize in front of my face. I was right and the bones tore themselves from the corpse, leaving a pile of spongy flesh and blood on the ground. The bones were pure white, not a hint of dirt was on them before they started to liquify in the air and combine. The liquid then formed into a solid 7ft long spear that was as thick as a water bottle. It then let loose, like a bullet, and immediately found its target.
"ROARRRR!!!"
"BONE SPEAR!BONE SPEAR!BONE SPEAR!BONE SPEAR!BONE SPEAR!BONE SPEAR!"
I didn't stop, I just spammed the ever living shit out of the skill until I started feeling my mana run low again. I quickly consumed a corpse only to realize it was the last one..... I had used up all the bodies in the area.
The demon was full of giant holes, but somehow it was still standing. Suddenly I saw a figure flash and it's head flew off its body, and with that it collapsed on the ground with a large thud.
"NOOOO!!!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!!! DIEEEE!!!!! URGHHhhhh....."
With the demon dead my minions immediately started to overwhelm the worshippers. Taleena had engaged the leader and put her hand straight through their chest. The battle was finally winding down, I could finally see the end in sight, but the sacrifices to get here.....were far too great. These thoughts ran through my head as I headed toward Fiona and the worshippers.
