Justice

"So that's how it is. Any other questions?"

Brianna had just finished going over my situation. It seems like I am free to leave and that the mayor will not be pursuing a vendetta against me. On the contrary, it seems like he is grateful to me for fighting with his son until the end and is happy that he died with honor.

I had mixed feelings about that last part. While I did fight with him until the end...after he died I technically defiled his corpse. I'm sure the mayor would be releasing the hounds on me if he knew I had used "Reanimate" on his son. Well that is a secret between me and my crippling loneliness.

I had also asked if there was any work for me. I said that I came from the country side and wanted to make it in the big in the big city. This seemed like a believable explanation as Brianna did not even question it once. It seems between my contribution to ridding the area of a dangerous Draft and an interrogation finding me not guilty, I was seen as fairly trustworthy. Well there was one other factor she mentioned as well...

"Ah, forgive me for saying this, but that would explain your poorly made clothes. I was curious who would wear such things."

.....Yes, apparently I dressed like a weird and poor bumpkin from the country. Isn't it in all those Isekai novels the people of the new world are always impressed with the tailoring of Earth?!?

"But! But! They are very... unique. That cat... is very colorful.... and unique."

She seemed to have noticed the the dead fish look in my eyes as she quickly tried to cushion the blow. She also kept emphasizing the word unique.... I mean... unique is good right? Hello Kitty IS unique to this world after all! This Hello Kitty is JUSTICE! .... I should probably get some new clothes.

Anyways, the mayor had asked the Adventurer Guild to give me some of the reward they had put on the Draft. Normally only a registered Adventurer could be paid out, but since the the town was the one that put up the money to the pay the Adventurer Guild for the bounty, it seemed within his rights to make this exception. I ended up getting 1 gold coin for all my trouble. I have no idea if this was a lot, but I was told that it is only 1/10th of the total amount. If I was with the Adventurer Guild I would of gotten 10 gold coins.

"C-can I join?"

"Of course, anyone with talent is welcome to join the Adventurer Guild. You will need to pass our tests to be allowed in though. However, since you took on a Draft, I don't think it should be too much of an issue. You also don't seem to be violent or psychotic, so you meet the basic mental requirements. Also, a perk of becoming a guild member is that you will be issued official identification. Since you are from the country you would have to normally pay for this, but if you successfully join us it is part of the initiation."

I smiled wryly, I mean it isn't like I can use my zombies for whatever test they had in mind could I? Well, I'll figure it out when I get there I guess. I tried to ask for more details, but she couldn't tell me as it seems each test is always different. It made it so people couldn't try to cheat the system it seems.

"However, I can say that it will test your combat strength, both mentally and physically."

I could only assume that meant a written exam and a practical combat exam. Well, no use in worrying, it can't be worse than the Draft right? Another thing that caught my attention was that the identification. I was pretty much a black hole in this world right now with no connections whatsoever, so this would finally let me be officially apart of this world.

I ended parting with Brianna and staying the night in the room they had given me. I was told to stop by the guild tomorrow before midday, and she would help me get tested. Before that though I planned to get re-outfitted. Hello Kitty's justice is too great for this world...
