34 ✒ Chapter 22 : Good terms

THE next day...

"Another cockroach is planning to stay here!" Center said bitterly as he opened the door and saw Khein standing there with a backpack on his hand.

"Are you talking about yourself?" Khein asked sarcastically as he made himself inside the house without asking for anyone's permission. Ethan's eyes widened as he saw Khein went directly to their living room and suited himself. Rei was currently busy cooking in the kitchen without knowing what was happening in the living room. Ethan blinked his eyes several times before he created a huge smile.

"I thought you got plans?" Ethan asked Khein excitedly as he glanced at the tallest guy in the kitchen. Rei had no idea that Khein was there. He never hoped for Khein to stay in the same house with him.

"Am I not welcome here anymore?" Khein asked bitterly as he picked his bag up.

"You're probably not" Center said frowning while wrapping his arm around Ethan's neck.

"No no, you should stay." Ethan said as he tried to act like a president instead of being Rei's good friend.

"You should definitely stay, 'kay?" Ethan said smiling. Center frowned as he saw Ethan's lively face because of Khein's presence.

"You're doing it on purpose, aren't you?" Center asked out of the blue which left the smaller boy clueless. Center thought Ethan was making him jealous using Khein. Effortlessly and naturally, Ethan always makes Center jealous. Center was way too possessive yet Ethan always assumed that the spoiled brat was just acting childish around him.

"Stop saying nonsense, get off me." Ethan protested as he felt Center's weight was drowning his energy. Khein's eyes explored the room as if he was looking for someone. Ethan noticed it so he immediately went to the kitchen. Rei was busy preparing the table when Ethan peeked from the door. The president immediately grabbed Khein's hand and pushed the rebel guy softly towards the kitchen. Khein stared at Rei who was busy dressing up the food with a white apron on. Rei looked cute with the apron. The psycho guy was biting the side of his lower lip as he carefully made the food presentable. Khein watched Rei silently so the psycho guy wouldn't notice that someone was watching him. Rei took a picture of his creation and smiled at the photo in his phone. He wanted to send the photo to Khein, since he knew that the rebel guy might love to see it. Rei's smile faded as he remembered he should better not to do it. He got used to telling Khein and sending him pictures whenever he wanted to, but not anymore. Rei sighed heavily with the thought of not being able to do the things he could usually do to Khein.

"Are you going to send it to someone and make that person suffer because he can't touch the food?" Khein asked bitterly. Rei raised his head when he recognized the owner of the voice who just spoke. His eyes widened as he blinked two times to process what was going on. It was Khein who talked to him, what should he do?

"Hey" Khein greeted Rei awkwardly with a wave. Rei scratched the back of his neck as he said softly, "Hey"

"That looks delicious, can I have a bite?" Khein asked as he made his way towards Rei. Rei quickly moved away when Khein went to his side. Khein saw that reaction and he thought it was cute.

'Wait, what?!' Khein thought when he realized what he was just thinking. Rei was currently looking away with his index finger tapping softly on the table. He kept biting his lower lip as he tried to think of a way how to get out of that room without offending Khein. Though he wanted to stay in there badly with the rebel boy, it would make him look so desperate in front of Khein. And Rei never wished to disgust his little Khein more.

"I... I better call them-"

"Stay"

Rei's eyes widened as Khein spoke and made him stopped from leaving the room. Rei's eyes panicked as he tried to avoid having another awkward conversation with Khein.

"Okay" Rei said obediently and bowed his head. He started playing with his thumb to release the nervousness he felt the moment he saw Khein. Their hearts were beating as if they were one. Rei could almost feel that Khein might hear his heartbeat, and so as Khein.

"I uhh, I'm sorry" Khein started as he released a heavy sigh. It was as if he just said the words that he wanted to say badly. It felt good to say those words and Khein felt the tight pain in his chest slowly faded.

"No, it was my fault. I'm at fault, I'll take all the blame. I promise I won't bother you anymore and it's final. So... So-"

"You can't" Khein cut Rei's words off.

"Huh?" Rei asked with confusions in his eyes. His head was screaming, 'Why can't I?!'

"Uhm... Then what am I suppose to do?" Rei asked like a child and again, Khein thought it was cute.

"You can't do what you're planning..." Khein said while his mouth began to tremble out of nervousness.

"Because?" Rei asked- confused as he always was for Khein's feelings towards him.

"Because... Because...just because." Khein said with a dumb face. He just couldn't say it. Rei didn't understand but he just nodded.

"Okay" Rei said sadly. He thought Khein would say he liked him too. Or that the rebel boy was starting to like him but it turned out he was hoping for nothing. And he was dumb enough to follow everything what Khein wants. Even if that meant liking Khein unconditionally.

"I'll call them" Rei said bitterly as he couldn't take it anymore. He felt like he was getting busted a hundred times yet Khein was giving him false hopes again. And he couldn't do anything about it but fall all over again with the process. Khein saw that hurt reaction across Rei's face and his heart ached again. It was then when Rei decided to leave but Khein grabbed his arm. The next thing that happened, Khein was grabbing Rei's shirt and his other hand grabbing the taller guy's arm. Khein froze as he realized what he just did and stared at Rei's dark eyes who were looking down on him. Those two lonely dark eyes were drawing his panicking ones.

"Uh" Khein mumbled as he averted his gaze away. Rei waited for him to say something as their nose touched, Rei's hot peppermint breath fanned Khein's lips. Khein turned his eyes back to Rei's as the psycho guy smirked and leaned towards Khein's, closing the gap between their lips. Khein's eyes widened as he felt the familiar sensation on his lips. Not like before, he didn't pushed the psycho guy away nor made disgusted noise. Instead, he pulled Rei's shirt closer for a better kiss.
