A young adult was returning from his workplace. He was looking into the distance as he reminded himself of his boring day with the old game as his last lifeline against that boredom. But, unknown to him, he was caught in an incident which caused his demise. The bus he was riding was buried by a collapsing building when a sudden earthquake occurred. The next time he opened his eyes, he is reincarnated to a world of magic as an infant named Ren Concerto. However, one by one strange things started to happen to him after he got reincarnated. Starting from an unknown game like system announcement and awakening of strange abilities. And for some reason, he received an enmity of the church and was given the Class which was deemed as useless.
I yawned as I boarded the public bus from my workplace. It was late in the cloudy afternoon where none can see the sun at the horizon. The day was not something I could say as the best day of my life. Instead, it was the usual ash-colored day as usual. It was just a part of my boring daily life as an adult.
Looking at my surroundings, I saw many people left inside the bus. Usually, the number of people boarding this bus was not as numerous as today but perhaps the opening of the new amusement park nearby might be the cause. I glanced at the wristwatch hidden by my sleeve. The time indicated that it was time for me to do my daily routine. I took out my smartphone and opened the game apps installed in it.
The game wasn't the popular game which always featured in the commercial. It was an old game with a gacha feature. Since long ago, I liked this kind of game. It was a game about an old fantasy story of a hero adventure in order to defeat the demon lord and save the world.
I glanced at my surroundings. There were several high school girls looking at me while whispering something to her friend. Judging from their appearance, they could be categorized as one of the people I would never get along with. After all, the tan on their skin and the flashy accessories had publicly declared that they were a part of the society known as gyaru.
'Uwaa, how disgusting. Playing a game despite being an adult.'
I could hear their whisper. Or rather, they probably had intentionally used a particularly louder voice that I could hear them.
"Mind your own business would you?"
I muttered under my breath.
'He's looking over here, uwaa... how gross... probably he is one of those disgusting otaku out there.'
'Yukacchi, that's too rude for him. He is at least still have a decent appearance. Though his hobby is another story.'
They were badmouthing me. Could they just be quiet already? Or rather, just get off somewhere nearby if possible.
Just the moment I finished cursing them, the bus shook violently. I looked around and saw the people ran outside of the buildings. The girls and children were panicking. The bus driver hit the brake and stopped the bus to avoid an accident. Looking at my smartphone, I saw a disaster alert was being displayed.
The passenger panicked. There were some accidents occurred at the end of the road caused by the either moving car crashed into the pedestrian after dodging panic civilians or the sudden braking due to the violent shaking of the earthquake.
Not long after that, the earthquake stopped. Everyone inside the bus sighed in relief. But, that relief crumbled down in instant. The nearest skyscraper lost its support and slowly crumbling to our direction. The driver tried to drive the bus as fast as he could but suddenly the engine turned off. I watched the collapsing building fall toward our bus.
Some of the passengers didn't know it but as one of the people who looked toward the building, I could see it. The gigantic mass which going to take my life away. Somehow, it felt so slow yet so fast. I could somehow see the falling building materials, as well as the furniture inside the collapsing building, was heading downward guided by the law of gravitation.
'In the end, this is it, huh?'
That kind of thought came to my mind. I didn't even care to move to escape from the predicament as it was impossible. I just silently sat down on my seat and watched the mass of material descended to me before my sight blacked out.
