After school, Yassir drove Adam home. He was still exhausted, so he couldn't go to the forest as he had planned. The only thing he wanted now is to eat a delicious meal and take a nap.
As for Yassmine, she was nowhere to be seen. She vanished after the fight had ended. Probably, she went home or somewhere else to relax and forget this bad day.
Unlike, Adam who doesn't care about what people say about him, as he was used to be bullied for his entire student life. Yassmine who was treated very well by her family and highly regarded by her classmates, couldn't bear their harsh remarques when she was struggling with the poison. Although she won the fight at last. She didn't feel any better.
"I was very pathetic. If Amina didn't loosen her guards because she thought I couldn't move. I wouldn't be able to win."
Yassmine was flying in the blue clear sky above the city, thinking about all the stuff that bothered her. she used to fly in the sky for a long time whenever she wanted to clear her mind. She would spread her wings and relaxes while the wind lifted her.

After four hours of sleeping, Adam woke up full of energy. It was already evening, so Adam walked to the empty kitchen to cooked dinner. He was alone at home. As usual, his mom was still at work at the scarlet flame family headquarters.
After he finished his meal, he returned to his bedroom. He took the skills he had got from the Sunbo family, then sat on an old brown rag, his back resting on the side of his bed.
He took the Weapon Reinforcement skill, and he read it's content carefully. It was very similar to the Inner energy fist that he had fully mastered now. They both used one's Inner energy to strengthen things. Yet Weapon Reinforcement was much difficult to master as the Inner energy needed to leave the body and enter the weapons to strengthen them. Once the inner energy leaves the body it becomes harder to sense and manipulate.
After he fully understood every part of the skill. He moved to the Weapon Enchantment technique. While the former skills were made for battles. This one was somehow a crafting skill. It again used the same principle as the other two: strengthening with Inner energy. But this one's purpose was to store Inner energy inside weapons then seal it, making it available at every time and can be used by others.
After understanding it as well, he decided to start practicing Weapon Reinforcement first as it seemed easier.
To do so, he brought the cheap sword that he had bought when he first started hunting beasts in the Stealthy Cloud Forest. Then he returned to his place now sitting cross-legged, his position whenever he starts practicing his skills.
He gathered his inner energy in his right hand with a single thought. Then he tried to release it toward the sword. But as soon as the Energy left his fingers he completely lost control over it. He wasn't even able to sense it anymore.
He kept repeating the same process over and over again. But the result was always the same.
"It looks like it's harder than I had thought." Adam talked to himself while putting his sword aside "But if it is about sensing Inner Energy, then I must concentrate and clear my mind."
Adam relaxed his body, while the tension on his muscles faded away. His mind was cleared focusing only on his Inner energy. His heartbeats slowed making him enter a very deep state of concentration. And his senses sharpened. He became able to sense the faint touch of the air current coming from under the door.
He stayed in that state for two hours, sinking deeper and deeper in meditation until he lost track of time.
He then released his Inner energy from his fingers, this time he was able to sense it as it wandered in the air.
He quickly grabbed his sword again with his right hand full of anticipation. Then, he invaded the sword with his energy capable of sensing every bit of it.
_Crack!_
A loud detonation came from the sword as it was shattered into pieces in a fog of dust.
Adam's heart jumped from surprise and fear. Fortunately, he wasn't hurt as the metal pieces didn't manage to pierce his D-ranker's thick skin."Oh! My god, that scared the s**t out of me."
"I must have released too much energy more than what the sword could contain. That's why it exploded." Adam was thinking of a reason for what happened when the door of his bedroom suddenly opened.
In front of the door stood a mature in her forties. She had a tidy medium length brown hair, blue eyes, and white skin. Her face seemed older than her actual age as there were several waves of wrinkles on her brow. She was wearing black formal clothes: a suit, a knee-length skirt and leather shoes. She was Adam's mother Marry, Even though they looked so different.
Unlike her, he had black curly hair and, black eyes, and his skin was tanned due to the constant exposure to sunlight during his hunting in the forest.
She checked Adam with her eyes from head to toes while trembling uncontrollably. After confirming that he was sound, she scurried to him then gave him a tight hug while saying: "I am so relieved that nothing bad had happened to you. I was dead-worried when I heard an explosion sound coming from your room. What happened?"
"Don't worry, mom, that small explosion can do me no harm. Because I am a D-ranker now. It was just an accident that occurred when I was training one of my skills." Adam said his mouth next to her ear while still hugging her.
Marry put her hand on her son's forehead, while anxiety appeared on her face again. "D-ranker? And skills? Oh no, you must have hurt your head."
"Hahaha" Adam chuckled as he couldn't help holding his laugher. "No mom, I am really a D-ranker, and I have trained several skills. Look at my hand."
As soon as he finished speaking a thick black glow covered his right hand.
Marry's mouth dropped from the shock as she couldn't believe what she was hearing. "That's just impossible. how can you reach the D-rank in a matter of months? And how could you buy skills? They are too expensive."
Adam looked away from his mom and was about to cook up a story. But at the last moment, he changed his mind. He looked at his mom in the eyes then said: "I am gonna tell you everything."
And just like that Adam told his mom about his ability and how it works, about him going to the forest for almost every day in the past two months to hunt beasts and sell them in the market, about his two visits to Frost village and about how he acquired every single one of his skills.

Author's here. I hope you are enjoying the story. I am trying to improve my writing and my storytelling skills to make Shadow Eater better. Big thanks to all of you for supporting me with your comments and advice, as well as your reviews. and of course, with your power stones so that more of you can read this novel.
A question: how much reviews are needed for a novel to be rated. Currently, Shadow Eater has three reviews but there is still that annoying 'not enough ratings' in the novel's home page.
