CHAPTER 13

It was on Saturday morning, Adam was in his room cleaning it when his father at the backyard washing his cloth with the washing machine and the stepmother was the kitchen cooking breakfast for them.

After one hour Adam had finished cleaning the room, took his bath wore another cloth and left the room. His father too had finished washing the cloth, went to his room to take his bath so him and Adam got to the living room at the same time, sat on the chair and watching movie.

The stepmother came out from the kitchen with the food inside the dining dishes and sat the table for them; opened the refrigerator brought out three bottles water. The pregnancy had showed very well and she had been doing exercise every morning for the delivery to be easy for her and visited hospital every Wednesday.

"My husband the food has ready and I have the table"

"Okay! I am coming, Adam! Let go and eat" he said and stood up.

"Okay daddy!" He stood and went to the dining room, sat on the chair facing his father and eating.

"Adam! I want you to go and help me to get cakes after finish eating"

"The cakes that you want to use for the baby shower right?" His husband asked.

"Yes! My husband, so Adam! Will go and help me to get it after finish eating"

"Why don't you go and buy it by yourself!" Adam said.

"She is your stepmother and she can send you an errand!"

"She is the one that want to use it not me, so she should go!"

"As your stepmother I have right to send you an errand"

"Ah!! Forget it, you are not my stepmother!" Adam shouted at her.

"Off course she is!, she is my wife and she is stepmother!"

"Okay! I am your sister"

"You can't be my sister never!"

"Adam! Are you alright at all, what come over you"

"I am alright Dad, very fine" looking at his stepmother like to slap her.

"I don't think so!, after finish eating you must go and get the cakes"

"Okay Daddy, as you said!" Said with anger.

"Let all of them be green colour for the body and the decoration should be white"

"Don't give me any colour!, I will buy any colour that I see or they have!"

"Adam! Adam! Adam!!!"

"Sorry daddy!" His father looked at him and continued eating.

After finished eating, Adam took the car key and ready to go and get cakes for his stepmother, told his father and he left.

One hour later, he packed his car at the front of the shop that he wanted to buy the cakes and got down when he saw that they didn't opened; brought out his phone and calling his father. Phone ringing on the table and his father took it.

"Hello! Adam" his father said.

"Yes Daddy!, tell your wife that the woman didn't open"

"Adam said the woman did not opened!" Talking to his wife.

"Put it in speaker, let me talk to him"

"Okay!" His father put it in speaker.

"But the woman is always there" she said louder.

"I asked a woman whom is her neighbour now and said that she is doing the forty-one day of her dead husband"

"It's true! I heard that her husband dead, find another place"

"Eh! I don't know another place"

"Ask people around there, they will know another place to get cake" his father said.

"Okay Daddy!" He hung up and entered into the car.

He got home back and the gate man opened the gate for him, packed at the park and got down. Called the gate man to assist him to carry the cake and opened the back door; he carried two cakes and the gate man carried the last one.

His stepmother opened the door for them and they entered.

"Welcome back my son" his father greeted.

"Thank you father. Greeting sir" the gate man greeted.

"Bring this one!" His stepmother said and collected it from his hand.

Adam and the gate man put it on the table at the dining room carefully, the gate man went out and the stepmother put her on down after them.

"What kind of cake Is this!" She shouted and all of them stood up.

"What happened to it?" Her husband asked and walked close to her.

"Because I mistaking beat it on the table, see the way it crack and all it decorations joined together!"

"Where did you buy it? Adam"

"At a shop where they wrote unsolid cake, soft with too much of butter! Outside it"

"How could you buy unsolid cake now! When they even wrote it" felt like crying.

"Why don't you go and buy it by yourself!"

"You too should have go to another place rather than to buy this one" Adam's father said.

"I told you that I don't know another place than the place she sent me to and this unsolid one"

"Oh! Oh!! My God" she shouted and Adam was very happy.

"You should manage it like that, there is nothing to do" her husband said.

"I can't! I can not manage it at all!" Said with anger showed over her.

"Then! Let us be eating it in the house and use the remain two"

"Three cakes! I want to manage it before and now how can I manage just two cakes!"

"You give it to those that are important, not everybody"

"I don't just like all this!" Left the dining room, went to her room and shouting around. Adam and his father went to the living and continued watching the movie.

Two hours later, she came from the room and going to the kitchen when she saw the cake that cracked remained half. Adam had went to his room one hour after she went to her room and it was only her husband in the living room.

"What happened to the cake! My husband come and see!" She shouted.

"What is it? What happened to it?" Stood up and walked closed to her.

"Take a look!, who cut the cake into two!"

"May be it fall on the floor! Because it has cracked ready"

"It don't fall! I don't see anything on the floor, someone cut it!" Said with anger.

"Adam! Adam!! Adam!!!" His father calling his name.

"Yes! Am coming daddy" answered from his room and got down after few seconds, walked closed to them.

"Adam! Are you did one that cut the cake into two and took a half?"

"Yes! Daddy, am the one"

"How dare you---" Adam cut her off.

"Look!!, don't ever use the word "dare" for me again and again!!" He shouted at her.

"Did you know it's your stepmother you are talking to! And why did you cut the cake?"

"Sorry Daddy!, it's you said that we should be eating it at home so that is why I took half and left for you"

"Yes, its true! I said so, you can go Adam!" He looked at her and going back to his room.

"You always be at your son's side!, I am the one that want to use the cakes and I don't tell anybody to touch it"

"But you don't say a word when i said so!"

"I don't say a word!, okay no problem!" Said with lower voice.

"Will you like to eat the cake? So that I should cut the half into two" she looked at him.

"Excuse me!" She said with anger and walked alway.

"Let me too eat the remain half" went to the kitchen took a flat small plate with a small knife and got to the dining room, scraped the decoration and put the cake inside the plate and went to the living room sat down, eating it and watching movie.
