Chapter 15

Xyris P.O.V.

Annalise stands up from her sit and take a small step backward away from me. I remained seated in my spot and look at my mystical appearance on the water.

"I hated Dusk but I never wanted anyone to suffer in my behalf." I whispered and look turn my eyes to Annalise. "I was blinded by anger but that does not give me the rights to put this land in agony."

"I—" Annalise eyes is full of confusion as she looks at me and my appearance. "It was you? I don't understand, you're supposed to be dead."

"A dryad can't die unless her vessel has been killed." Sagot ko sa tanong nito.

Annalise became silent as she looks at me with an awe. Slowly, I turn back my appearance to my human form. This answer my question to why does my dryad side feels suffocated at this specific part of the island. This is the place where her heart was broken. The place where she let out a curse that imprison the whole pack in agony. My hand close in a tight fist upon realising the damage that my dryad cause to this pack.

Everything became clear now and I manage to stitch everything piece by piece to create a conclusion.

My dryad side is mated to the previous alpha, it means that I am the one who is mated to Kaige.

The dryad must have chose me to be her vessel because she wanted to correct the mistake she commited hundred years ago. Napatigil ako sa pagiisip ng makaramdam ng kakaibang paninikip sa dibdib ko. Kumunto ang noo ko. Suddenly, my dryad's side feels disturbed. Someone is calling her.

I stand up immediately and look around us. The wind feels normal and calm but there is a sudden ache in my chest that makes me feels like as if someone has taken away something from me.

"What's wrong Xyris?" Nagtatakang tanong ni Annalise na nagpabaling ng tingin ko rito.

"Someone seems to be calling me from distance." Wala sa loob na wika ko.

Annalise looks at me with confusion and disbelief. "What do you mean?"

Instead of answering her. I take her hand with me as I let my dryad side take me to the entity that's reaching out to my soul.

I can hear Annalise gasp when she realise what is happening. Our body slowly turning into a golden dust and butterfly as the wind blew it to the direction of the beach.

In just a second, we are already in front of the huge ocean, far from the waterfall where she brought me.

I can smell the salty breeze from the ocean however the disturbing scent of a blood is mixed on it. My stomach churn in fear, fear not for us but for the person who is calling me. Silently praying that we are not yet late to help. I look around to see where it is coming from.

Isang maliit na yate ang nakaagaw ng pansin ko. Binitiwan ko ang kamay ni Annalise at saka humakbang tungo sa dagat. I can hear Annalise footsteps behind me.

"Someone is calling me from that boat." Wika ko kay Annalise.

Kumunot ang noo nito sa winika ko. "That's a patrol boat Xyris, it surrounds the island to make sure that no one will be able to enter the Island without our knowledge."

"But—."

"Xyris, Anna. What are you two doing here?" Sabay kaming napalingon sa kay Xavier na ngayon ay papalapit na sa amin.

"Well— Xyris feels like someone is calling her so we came to check it." Paliwanag ni Annalise.

Hindi nakaligtas sa matalas kong pakiramdam ang kakaibang kilos ni Xavier. "Is there something's wrong?" Hindi napigilan kong tanong.

"Yeah, one of the warriors mindlink me and the alpha that they are under attack." Nanlaki ang mata ko sa narinig. That's why they are calling me. They are in need for help.

Without a word, I let myself turned into golden dust and butterfly. Flying to the direction of the boat. I can hear Annalise voice calling me from behind but I choose to ignore it. Someone needs my help from this yatch.

Iglap lang ay nasa balkonahe na ako ng yate. Unang umantak sa akin ay ang umaalingasaw na amoy ng dugo. Nakaramdam ako ng panghihina. Slowly, I take small steps to enter the open door of the yatch.

Napahawak ako sa bibig ko upan pigilan ang pagsigaw at pagbaliktad ng sikmura ko. In front of me is three lifeless warriors, their body was torn limbs by limbs.

Napaatras ako. No! How can someone commit such brutality? Impit akong napaiyak. Hindi na halos rumehistro sa pandinig ko ang paghinto ng makina ng jetski sa tabi ng yate. I can feel my energy slowly leave my body.

I'm late, they are dead. The words written in the wall is the solid proof that they've been killed at my expense.

"Xyris what ha—. Fuck!" Narinig kong wika ni Xavier mula sa likuran ko. Hilam sa luha ang mga mata ko na lumingon sa natulalang beta.

"I should have left this island the moment they learned that I am hiding here..." Mahinang wika ko. "None of this should happened.."

Tumiim ang bagang ni Xavier habang iniikot ang tingin sa paligid yate. Kumuyom ang kamao nito ng mapadako ang tingin sa isang bahagi ng pader kung saan nakasulat ang mensaheng iniwan ng pumatay gamit ang dugo ng mga warrior.

'The dryad is mine.'

They are heartless! Why would they commit such crime?

"Annalise, take Xyris with you and go back to the pack house. The Alpha is already on his way." Wika ng beta.

Annalise walk towards me and pat my shoulder. "Xyris, let's leave now. Let the alpha handle this."

Mahina akong tumango. Kahit nanghihina ay pinilit kong maglakad palabas sa yate. Slowly, my dryad form leave me as my hair turn back to its normal color. A small boat is waiting for us outside the yatch. Inalalayan ako ni Annalise na makasakay rito saka iminaniobra ang ito paandar sa pampang.

Me on the other hand felt drained and weak. My heart is broken because of the life that I failed to protect. Isang  desisyon ang nabuo ko habang tinatalunton namin ni Annalise ang daan patungo sa pack house. I need to leave. Hiding and escaping won't fix anything. I need to face the nightmare that's been terrorising me since I was a child.
