Chapter 6: At each one's Resolve

Confusion...

This is the emotion that Rin Grayson is experiencing right at this very moment.

Failing to find any logic behind this situation, Rin tries to recap all the factors that he has known throughout this mission.

'Let's see, Father tells me to protect daughter, Daughter gets kidnap by two bastards, and the mastermind is the Father. So... Father orders me to protect her... to protect her from the father... what the fuck, none of these make any sense at all!!!'

Rin's thoughts jumbled, ideas scattering in an orderly manner.

'Unless...'

Then an idea out of many... no perhaps a delusion.

No matter how derange it seems, The idea seemingly pop right inside his calculative mind. It may in fact be the one that make most sense out of this madness.

"Are you testing me?"

Jonathan stood from a distance, amused by the Agent's look of utter shock and disbelief.

Clapping his hands, Jonathan could only say, his voice praising in every tone. "Bravo my cute little Agent. The Brotherhood indeed produced such exceptional young lad!!!"

With speed honed by years of martial training, Rin in an instant closed the distance between him and Jonathan much to the latter's slight surprise.

Blade pointing at the Headmaster's throat, Rin's crimson eyes writhe in fury.

"What games are you playing Erendal?" Rin's tone suggest no bullshit, his teeth gritting behind his mask.

Jonathan closed his eyes, retaining his carefree smirk. "Tell me Rin Grayson, do you remember our last conversation in my office?"

"What's this about now Erendal?" Rin replied, his self-restraint tempting to break the limits.

Jonathan calmly shook his head "Oh hear me out Mr. Grayson. The means justify the ends. You truly disbelieve that don't you?"

Rin failing to see what this is all about but decided to humor the Headmaster a bit and merely answered "Yes what of it?"

Jonathan grin grew feral in response, his green eyes gleaming as it basked under the moonlight shown at the window.

"I commend your beliefs Agent and I truly appreciate when an individual stick closely to his convictions, standing with supreme defiance in the midst of constant change but I have yet to see this, your resolve that is. The means does not justify the ends?"

With movements that even far surpassed the younger Agent, Jonathan skillfully disarmed Rin as the former knee striked him in the gut.

Before Rin could even retaliate, his weapon is used against him.

The Dai-Katana that served as his signature and trusty weapon now instead points at the owner's throat, the same manner that he did to Jonathan but now their roles are reversed.

Then the Headmaster spoke, the sound of his voice shifting from happy go lucky to batshit serious.

"What a naive way of thinking Rin Grayson."

Somewhere in the border of the Underworld, There is an entertainment establishment, a club that is renown for its good drinks and excellent service.

This is were people of different backgrounds partake in a night filled with dancing, drinking, and the usual good time.

Criminals, Law Enforcers, Thieves, Politicians...

None of that matters. As long as you have the Reis then you are definitely welcome to enjoy privileges that the club has to offer.

It is the place called the Drunken Maiden.

"Hey Jack, another of your finest Ale!!"

Inside the club, in the bar corner, we find a familiar middle aged man with black hair grinning. He bears a handsome face with slightly unkempt facial hair.

His attire consist of a sleeveless black suit that covers his white polo shirt which its sleeves are neatly folded. He is also clad in black pants and a pair of black dress shoes.

This man is Kayle Faragus, code name "Dragon" of the B.S.S.

"Damn it Kayle this is your what... 6th glass?!" The bartender Jack, a blonde man in his late 40's hands over the glass of alcoholic beverage to Kayle despite having complaints about the latter's drinking behavior.

"7th." Kayle immediately corrected, gladly taking the ale and chugging it down in his throat.

The bartender cringed at how Kayle treats his alcoholic beverages like glasses of water that can be easily swallowed...

"Hello there handsome~"

Kayle's ears twitch a bit as he heard a girl's seductive voice coming from behind.

Turning to his back, he was a bit surprise at seeing not one but two. Twins in fact as the lovely young ladies eyed him like he is some sort of a piece of meat.

'Woah two hot babes and twins too!!! It seems that my luck is finally turning around.'

Indeed if you look at the two girls, they are identical in almost every aspect. The only key differences are their hairstyles, one having a ponytail with a black ribbon and the other, a straight long hair.

Both are natural redheads with violet eyes. Their outfit are also similar which are sleeveless gothic lolita dresses with black and crimson frills.

"What can I do for you girls?" Kayle merely grinned, being friendly with the two beautiful twins.

It was the one with the pony tail who answered cheerfully "You are Kayle Faragus right?"

The man in question nodded in response with an arrogant grin "That's right lass. It seems that my reputation preceeds me."

"Of course!! The famed Mercenary, The Black Wyvern. Known for completing Mercenary Contracts with graceful efficiency. Who in the Underworld does not know you?" The same girl grinned madly while her long haired sister just stared at Kayle without even a single trace of emotion.

Kayle was unnerved by the quiet girl, her stare seemingly piercing right into his very soul, calculating and observing his every movement and mannerism.

"Is your sister uhhh you know.." Kayle asked the lively one of the two as he points the emotionless girl.

"You mean Mors? Nah she's just shy~" The girl waved him off.

A shattered glass was heard from behind the bar counter. Jack was seen sweating nervously, his face with the look of fear like witnessing the Goddess of Death claiming his very soul.

And the guy is not exactly wrong per say.

The being in equal terms with the Greek God Thanatos and the Hindu Goddess Mara.

The offspring of Nox and sibling to Somnus.

A killer feared throughout the Underworld....

Sharing the same name with the Roman Personification of Death.

The Assassin who slaughters anyone without a shred of feeling and care.

An emotionless killing machine.

The girl called...

"Mors huh?" Kayle raised an eyebrow upon hearing her name, a bit intrigued instead of fear as opposed to what Jack is feeling right now. "So if she's Mors, then you must be-"

She who rules alongside with Mantus, the ruler of the Land of Dead.

The mother of ghosts, undead, and other spirits of the night, as well as the two Roman Deities, Lares and Manes.

She is also known as the Godess of Spirit, the Incarnation of Chaos, Insanity, and Madness.

An Assassin that revels in every kill, her seemingly angelic face smirking sadistically while bathing on the blood of her victims.

And the girl is known as...

"-Mania."

"Bingo!! Saves me the hassle of introducing ourselves, especially my sister~" The girl with the pony tail, now known as Mania gave a feral grin in response.

"Who would have thought that I get to see the infamous Death Sisters in personal." Kayle said in a neighborly approach, his demeanor unchanging despite knowing the girls' infamy throughout the Underworld.

Mania giggled rather cutely "You flatter us Mr. Wyvern. Me and sis here would love to chat with you all night. Let's go dance over there!!"

Before Mania even had the chance to take Kayle to the dance floor, Mors shook her head in dissaproval as she tug her sister's dress.

"Oh right hehehe sorry sis." Mania chuckled sheepishly and turned her attention back to Kayle. "As much as we would love to do so, we are on a business mind you. Kayle Faragus, we would like to extend our hand on behalf of the Great Leader and join us!!!"

Mania offered her hand to the man, her toothy grin flashing in its glory.

Kayle's smirk slowly turned upside down "I was under the impression that you girls work alone."

"Worked, E.D. with a past tense~" Mania crossed her arms as she emphasize her ample chest and said the next words with pure conviction and adoration. "The Great Leader is a wonderful person, she has enlightened both of us and is working on a goal to unite all of Twilight and achieve true peace!!!"

Mors simply nodded, seemingly agreeing with her sister despite the stoic look on her face.

"Great Leader? You sure call someone a really grand title rather than a simple one like you know... Boss." Kayle answered, eager to hear more about this Great Leader.

"Boss?" Mania titled her head in confusion and upon realizing the nature of Kayle's question, she waved her hand in a dismissing manner. "Neehhh some criminal lord wanna be already assumed such title and we don't want to affliate much confusion within the power struggles of the Underworld. Besides, Great Leader is a title suited for a marvelous being such as her!!!"

"I see..." Was only Kayle's reply at such... worship and devotion.

'This Great Leader whoever she is might be someone not to be trifled easily, especially when she earned the allegiance of the infamous Death Sisters.' Kayle thought, mentally frowning at the prospect of an unknown threat.

"A contract you say?" Kayle beamed, assuming a villainous personality as he returned the hand gesture. "Tell me more and who knows, if you show me a good time, I might consider a lifetime contract with this Great Leader."

Mors cheered rather cutely, very pleased with his response "Ohhh this is great!!!!" Then she turned to Mania, holding her hands and shaking with glee. "Isn't it great sis?! We manage to recruit the Wyvern into our cause. Ohhhh Great Leader is going to be so happy!!!"

And once again, Mors held no emotions.

Kayle scratched his head sheepishly in embarassment and laughed awkwardly with them.

But in his thoughts lies an inner oath, resolve completely unbreakable as he swore a sacred fealty only to one organization,

The Brotherhood forged by the flames that once consumed Twilight in ages past.

The Brotherhood Secret Service.

Kayle Faragus, Code name "Dragon"

An agent working undercover for the Brotherhood in the Underworld, a Mercenary / Criminal in disguise.

The one infamously known as the Black Wyvern, renowned for successful contracts accomplished with brutal efficiency.

But in reality he is the Dragon in the shadows, exercising his dominance against the criminals of the Underworld. He provides important information concerning illegal activies to the Brotherhood.

Sometimes in order to fight scum then you have to be one and Kayle has sacrificed many things, knowing it is for the greater good of the people Twilight.

Even if they don't realize it.

And he sure damn as well don't mind about it.

Everything for the Brotherhood-

And the Kingdom.

'What a troublesome situation I've been thrown into. I swear to God I need a fucking break after all of this.' Kayle thought and lit up a cigar from his pocket.

'I bet Ant is having it easy.'

It took every ounce of willpower for Rin not to sneeze as he is having a freaking hell of a moment right now.

"What a naive way of thinking Rin Grayson."

Sneeze later, A demented father first, Rin eyed the tip of his blade warily, courtesy of one Jonathan Erendal.

"It seems that you still lack the resolve that we of the Brotherhood ever had." Jonathan eyed Rin seriously.

Ignoring the Headmaster's statement, Rin voiced out his question with rage "What the fuck Erendal? Kidnapping your own daughter?! It may be a test to see if I'm truly capable of my job but this is just sick!!! Your daughter almost got raped for fuck's sake!!!!"

Jonathan simply smirked "It seems that the Brotherhood is becoming a bit complacent with the young recruits. Young Ant, what I have done, everything has a purpose."

"Oh?!!! Do tell you sick ass??!!"

"Indeed I am responsible for my daughter's tragedy. Should you have failed, I could have handle it with my own hands and slaughter the two so much that they wished they were never born." Jonathan replied. "But in the days to come, I won't be there to protect my daughter at all times, so I must be assured."

Jonathan withdraw the katana pointing at Rin's throat and stabbed it in the ground.

"I want to witness with my own eyes at how you handle the situation should the despicable happen." Jonathan then looked at the two dead bodies. "I must say I'm impressed that you did not hesitate to kill even in the slightest. Although your resolve is questionable at best but for now, I believe it will suffice."

Jonathan grab the katana and handed it to its rightful owner.

"I will continue to observe you Rin Grayson in the coming days and I hope you don't dissappoint. Such potential is wasted on such naive way of thinking" the Headmaster then made his way to his daughter's unconscious form and carried her.

"You are scum Erendal." Rin merely said.

"But I suppose even a scum has a noble purpose no matter how twisted the means are. I could kill you right now you know." Rin added and brandish his blade.

"But that will only make Kana sad." Rin immediately unsheathed his blade. "In the few hours that I have known her together with her friends, it was one of the most memorable and happy moments that I have ever experienced in my 15 years of existence and I sure damn as hell won't trample on that." Rin said with utmost conviction in his every word.

"Friendship last a lifetime if treasured. I guess that's one thing we can agree on." Jonathan smiled as he put on his fedora hat and together with Kana, they left the scene.

Rin eyed their retreating form...

'The means justify the ends. Should I resort to every method possible just to achieve something for the greater good?'

Rin looked up in the night sky, basking against the glory of Twilight's ever sacred moonlight.

"ACHOO!!!"

Rin was disgusted by the snot inside his mask.

'For some reason, I want to punch Kayle in the face.'
