21 21 First Class

The man led us to a classroom on the outer walls of the castle. The door was in the courtyard, and the room was rather small. With only the 6 of us including the teacher the room was of the perfect size. Once we had taken seats the teacher began to speak.

"Before the lecture begins, we will start with introductions." He pointed to one of the male students with short blue hair "you will begin. Name, and major minor."

The boy stood "yes instructor! My name is Cyan, and I am a shadow Esper" when he was done speaking the short girl next to him stood up. "My name is Ash and I major and minor in dexterity." Next to her was another girl who was a little taller and had long blonde hair. "My name is Sora and I major in dex and minor in mind" I was after that and the past was another guy with a short stature "my name is Mica and I minor in dexterity and major in mind"

"My name is Grey, and I am a lvl 12 Arcane assassin. I was accepted to teach at the academy after a couple of years abroad. You will be at the academy for five years, and because of the unique way of cultivation here you will level up twice in a year. Graduation will happen once you reach level 10. At level 10 you will have a chance to evolve into a specialized subclass."

"Each class has a stat that it represents, so even though you are "assassins" that only means that you have a major in dexterity. The four classes and their corresponding stats are as follows. Brawler=strength, assassin=dexterity, Tank= constitution, and magus=Mind. A student receives two points for their major class and one point for their minor class, so you all will receive 2 points in dexterity and one point in mind for your level ups. This is in addition to the one point in every category and the 3 points for your stat major and minors."

Grey looked around the room "you all got that? 10 points per level up. Each of you are level one, so you will have an increase of 90 points by the time you graduate. Speaking of which each of you will have already gotten the perks for leveling up to level 1, which are basic cultivation upgrades. Please open your status screens. You will notice that each of your main stats has a number next to them, and that there are 2 to 3 subcategories under those stats. Your bonuses from your major and minor will have already been distributed to these subcategories. This happens automatically and, in a pattern, as to level them up equally. Your status screen should look roughly like this, except with numbers"

Strength

1) lifting capacity

2) hit power

Dexterity

1) coordination

2) speed (movement and attack)

3) precision

Constitution

1) defense

2) endurance

3) regeneration(healing)

Mind

1)Magic power strength

2)regeneration(essence)

3) perception

"Now each of you will have unused points from your previous level to distribute as you see fit, however I would recommend waiting to place them until you have figured out what path you want to take, and distributing them in 3 months."

"Except for Dark and Cyan who are Espers, the rest of you should not have had an opportunity to learn any sort of magic. As an assassin there are three schools that are especially useful to you, but if you want to learn others that is fine as well. The first is the school Cyan is an Esper in which is shadow. Shadow magic helps an assassin stay hidden and can be used for illusions as well as other purposes. The second is wind, which can increase the users speed. The last is also the hardest to learn, and only Dark really has a chance to master, which is Death. Death has the greatest benefit to an assassin, however unless one has an affinity for it the potential rebounds from it can be lethal, so pursue this path with great care. Besides those three elemental paths, the path that all of you will learn is telekinesis. Telekinesis is a must have tool for the Dark Flame as our signature skill Dark Resonance, uses telekinesis. But before you can learn the skill you first have to master intermediate telekinesis".

With that grey began to hand out books to the three non-Esper students. To Grey and I he gave a list of intermediate telekinetic books for us to choose from, and a token to retrieve said book from the library. We did not have to choose now, but before class tomorrow we had to have obtained the book. I however did not need to wait, as each of the books on the list were written with a spiritual marking, and Blood drinker immediately reacted to one of the books on the list. The book was telekinetic sword, one of the parent skills of the Esper Blade. For some reason Blood Drinker wanted me to learn this skill. And as I said before my future was parallel with it, so the choice was easy.

From there we moved on to weaponry, the class would member offering training in five different types of training, and we were expected to major in one of them. They were archery, unarmed, hidden weapons, daggers and swords. The decision was important, and we were given time to choose after trying the weapons, however everyone already knew what their majors were going to be. Cyan chose hidden weapons, and mine was of course swords. Mica and ash chose daggers and Sora chose archery. We were definitely a mixed class.

"Weapon training is an important part of any path, and it will be a focus of your training throughout your years at the academy. A focus for assassins however is anatomy. Not only human anatomy but beast anatomy. We do not have the physical strength of the brawlers, nor the endurance of the tanks, or the fancy magic attacks of the Magus. What we have is speed and accuracy. So, we need to know where weaknesses are and how to strike them"

"Classes will be from 8 a.m. every day until 8 pm. After lunch you will self-study for 3 hours in your telekinesis, followed by weapon. Training for another 5. 1 hour for each weapon and an extra for your major. The morning will be classroom time. Here we will discuss training options, have lessons in anatomy, and other skills needed for an assassin. I will be teaching you for the classroom time as well as hidden weapons. I will be teaching Cyan his specialty in Hidden weapons as well. The other weapons will be taught by teachers who specialize in those weapons. For example for archery it will be just an overview of the different kind of bows and crossbows, however there will be a different teacher depending on either bow or crossbow, swords have a general teacher and a teacher for different types of swords, mainly longsword, shorts word or great sword. Most weapons in the sword category can fit into those categories at least loosely, while there are other specialties our academy does not have a trainer for them."

"Your specialty in your weapon will eventually lead to the acquisition of a skill if you work hard enough. These are individual weapon mastery skills. The more you practice and the harder you work, and depending on your own capability with the weapon, the higher you can advance. You can change your specialty once in the first year if the fit is not the best."

", today's classroom time has already covered what it was supposed to. You have an hour until weapon training so get yourself some lunch and Cyan and Dark go to the library and choose your Intermediate Telekinetic training manual. Telekinesis training will be done in the room next to this one. There will be a few others joining you, namely the people from our counterpart the Dark Magus. Which reminds me the majors and minors of each class have a different name that we refer to them as here. The minors are assassin= Dark, Magus=arcane, Brawler=Hulking, Tank= impervious. The suffix is always the major. Therefore, we are called the Arcane Assassins. The Dark Magus are the magus that have a minor in assassination. You could say we are two sides of the same coin. That's all for today, class dismissed."

Instructor Grey left just like that, leaving us to our own devises. The four others rushed to the mess hall, as they needed to eat, I however went straight to the library. Which after getting some directions I found out was in the basement of the castle. I had no problem getting the book I had selected as I had the token. It was not a very popular path to take, as most people who used telekinesis did not use melee weapons and visa-versa. However, there were always some people who found that the ability suited their direction of training and obtained it. I was given a week to memorize the book and return it. There was a spell on all the books that not only tracked their locations but also prevented them from being copied. With my mission accomplished I went to my next class. It was empty as I suspected it would be, but I was fine with that, it gave me time to begin reading the manual.

Very quickly I became absorbed into the manual, not noticing anything around me. The words on the pages blurred as Blood drinker eagerly absorbed the knowledge inside of it. Pages changed without effort as Blood Drinker changed the pages on its own.

At some point someone sat next to me, but I was too caught up in what blood drinker was doing to notice. Each page caused a subtle change to my sword, each paging causing it to grow slightly stronger. I stood up and Blood drinker appeared in my hand. The manual fell to the floor. My telekinesis went wild as it circulated in a vortex around my blade, the pressure honing the edges, causing an increase in sharpness.

Blood Drinker disappeared, and the room around me came into focus. Inside my inner world I could tell that Blood Drinker had evolved, mastering the essence of the telekinetic blade. As I investigated the inner world, I noticed the ability had changed.

<Blood Drinker>

Dark's upgraded Esper blade. After the blade had experienced an epiphany when introduced to one of its parent powers its strength has risen, while its cost has lowered. Base damage= Magic attack + users' level, cost= permanent loss of 10 essence (user max is now 90/100) no cost to summon or maintain.
