The Announcement

The couple placed themselves in the center of the room once everyone introduced themselves to the guest of honor. Upon reaching a certain point, Luna and Dimitri joined them. A loud whistle could be heard then and everyone quickly looked to the center of the room where Dimitri stood with his fingers in his mouth. When the people in the room saw this they immediately quieted and a pin dropping could be audible.

"Everyone! I have a few announcements to make. Firstly, this is my daughter Seraphina. She went around earlier and met each of you." He gestured towards Sera, showing her off like a prized piece of art. "Secondly, Lucien and her are arranged to be married at our winter solstice event!" Every woman gasped upon hearing this part and every man seemed to have a hint of jealousy. For the men in the room had taken notice of Sera's beauty and grace. One thing men in the magical community loved was gracefulness. When a woman had natural grace it was even better. Sera seemed to possess this because she appeared to be unaware of herself at all, but still managed to have this floating like ability.

Dimitri placed Lucien and Sera's hands together to signify their coupling. Everyone in the room was silent when a sudden sound of clapping could be heard. Instantly, every person followed suit and a huge round of applause occurred. Sera was stunned cause she never felt this important before. Meanwhile, Lucien had a smug yet cold look in his eyes that made a shiver go down Sera's back. something about him felt off, but she couldn't quite pinpoint what exactly was wrong. Also she didn't know him all that well so how could she even say something was wrong.

"I'm thirsty, I'm going to get a drink from the bar." Sera said over her shoulder as she was walking in the direction of the bar. Lucien only nodded and said, "bring me back a jack and coke." She then smiled and gave the thumbs up and sauntered off. The smile on his face quickly faded and a look of malice took its place. No one seemed to notice but he was attempting to perform some sort of spell on Sera, but sadly someone bumped him and it threw off his focus. 'Damnit' he silently cursed. The look of malice subsided and was again replaced by a cold yet pleased look. 'Soon I will have my will be done.' He chuckled internally.

The atmosphere was jubilant and bright, as the party slowly regained its momentum that was lost during the announcement. Swelling sounds of melodic music could be heard from every corner and cobweb. No matter which direction you went, the smells of nachos, various dips, and barbecued meats filled your senses. Once you get to the bar the plethora of alcohol and juices could be noticed and it made an alcoholic's dream come true. Sera was approaching the bar when Jack suddenly grabbed her elbow, "What are you doing going to the bar?" He said with amusement in his eyes as he didn't take this little girl as a drinker. "I'm here for some drinks, why else would I be here?" She shot back rather annoyed.

"Please don't be offended by what I said, I just didn't expect you to be a drinker is all. He shrugged off her annoyance. She felt oddly comfortable with Jack so she allowed his teasing and teased him back, "you want a juice box?" Shocked wasn't even a word in his vocabulary at the moment, he didn't expect her to be so quick witted. At this opportunity, she quickly went and ordered the jack and coke for Lucien and a tequila sunrise for herself. Upon seeing her drink Jack felt a little silly, as it seemed she was an experienced drinker. Something about this girl intrigued him, but he also felt a feeling he's never felt towards his brother; jealousy.

Even though she was almost ten years his junior, she was enigmatic to him. That made him want to know her better, but how could he manage to get close to her? An idea came to his mind right then as he was a master in many fields. He would find out which areas in magic she needs improvement and he would see if he could help her. Little did he know that she needed more than improvement, she needed a miracle.
