Rory closed the bathroom's door quickly before tossing her clothes on the counter.
Her lips had a subconscious urge to twitch up and she felt a small laugh growing in her chest after thinking about Knox's face.
The fact that she was playing with fire was undeniable, however when it came to Knox she didn't seem to be able to help herself.
How can a person who established and developed his own company in a few years be defeated by germs? It was really too funny.
Rory let out a breath as she stifled her laughter and started to get ready for the day ahead of her.
Today she woke up early in order to take care of her black market transaction and get back to campus before her classes started. Until she discovered exactly which classes required her attention she didn't bother skipping just yet.
She was sufficient in engineering and business due to her experiences in her past life. Unfortunately, she was also someone who never made it to college.
The college system of education was without a doubt different from her rouge way of just learning exactly what she needed from educational books. And she couldn't risk having bad grades next semester.
Her interaction with Knox might of been hilarious to her, however the interest he was showing was dangerous. Counting on Rory's past to cover up her threat level to him wasn't going to be enough.
If he was paying attention to her, he should have some reason that peaked his interest. The fact that he interrogated her first proved that it wasn't substantial evidence. As long as she didn't do anything else to catch his attention he would probably let it go after a while.
Not that it mattered in the end as Rory was rather sure that Knox was planing to kill her sometime or another. Her life fully depended on the fact that he had too many things on his plate to bother with her.
Improving her grades and getting clearance to live off campus was imperative. Her grades would also protect her mom from the Hynes for a while longer if Victor recognized Rory more.
Rory slipped on her black school jacket. She could feel some slight resistance in her muscles due to aches from her workout.
However, she ignored it and finished buttoning up her school jacket at its sleeves before leaving the bathroom.
Once she left the bathroom, Rory glanced covertly over at the kitchen counter to see that the previously occupied seat was empty.
It appeared the Knox had returned to his room after their conversation. Rory felt a bit of tension leave her body. His retreat meant that for now he was no longer directly interested in her.
She changed the way she spoke and her atmosphere because of the risk that he recognized her speech pattern during their interaction last night.
However, the fact that it worked wasn't really a good thing. After all, It meant Knox already had her on his radar before the hacking incident.
Why couldn't she run into a less high maintenance person?
Rory grabbed her shoulder bag and picked up a black umbrella from inside of her room.
It was the middle of October and fall showers were starting to kick in. Today had, unfortunately, a 70% chance to rain. If her situation wasn't urgent, she would of probably picked a better day to explore Boston.
The scene of Boston outside of Sovereignty was dreary. Flashes of lightning flashed every once in a while in the cloudy dark grey sky and the downpour of the rain made it hard to see too far into the distance.
Rory had spent the majority of her last life in New York as it was where the Hill's headquarters was set up. She had only visited Boston once in her past life because her intern attended a college here called Jarvard, which was a college for people with top grades across the world. It was only a quick view of It to drop off her intern after finishing a business trip.
Despite it proximity to New York, she never came again.
Other than meetings she spent a large majority of her time in her own lab.
Her business didn't get to hit the point of expansion in her past life, mainly because of her own paranoia, therefore she never stayed anywhere long except for New York. She didn't have faith in anyone enough to let them take over another one of her businesses.
Her company was a million dollar one, but on the outside, it wasn't actually the top company for technological engineering. It's true power laid in the designs that she never risked releasing.
Rory only released technology that would benefit humanity, but being curious was a double edged sword.
She drew things that had high demand such as weapons of war and higher capacity satellites. They were things that she knew the government would try to capitalize on if she was ever exposed for creating them. Therefore, she never let anyone have too much clearance in her building.
Sadly, like herself, human's were drawn to things that caused their own destruction.
Rory opened up her umbrella and joined the crowd of people on the Boston's sidewalk.
With her free hand she pulled her phone out of her pocket.
A bit of nostalgia grew in her heart as she called out a familiar name, "Sunny? How do you get to the nearest Internet cafe?"
A calm robotic voice sounded out from the phone. [Hello Rory, there is an Internet cafe approximately 3.4 miles away from you. There is a traffic block on 29th street, therefore the quickest way to reach your destination is walking. Would you like me to guide you to your destination?]
"Yes. Thank you."
[Your welcome Rory.]
A map appeared on the phone directing her to an Internet cafe. Seeing the ease in which the A.I worked, Rory felt herself smile slightly.
Sunny was one of the first A.I she ever created and if Rory's phone wasn't an older version she doubted she would ever see this A.I again. After all, her father was the one who released it, therefore it was already more than fifteen years old at this point.
The fact that she couldn't detect any flaws in its processing pattern was truly amazing.
Rory followed the map Sunny gave her and started to navigate her way through Boston. However, the slight smile that appeared on her face due to Sunny seemed to be getting colder and colder at every turn she took.
Sorry for the slow updates. However thankfully exams are over so I should be able to update more often.
