The moment after she died, Aki suddenly woke up in a novel she read as Conor Tandefelt, the second son of Tandefelt family notoriously known as an asshole who only drink and play with women during his life. The problem was, Aki knew that Conor would be killed off early in the novel, unjustly convicted of a crime he didn't do. Didn't want to experience a second death, Aki started scheming her way to avoid the conviction and thinking of retiring early with the Tandefelt family wealth.
Every drop of rain continuously hitting the window, blurring the sight outside the mansion. The wind was raging, causing several trees on the garden bending unnaturally, unable to wield to the strong pressure. No living beings could withstand being outside right now. However, It was no better than Conor own stormy thoughts.
Conor Tandefelt
The second son of Viscount Marcel Tanderfelt, known as an asshole of Tandefelt family. All he did during his lifetime was to drown himself in alcohol and women. Not only that, he often got into troubles and used his position to get away. Later, he would be the key point to the birth of a new hero, but...
by getting killed off.
That is the setting for Conor's character.
However, right now that 'Conor' did not exist. Instead, Aki who was now 'Conor Tandefelt' cursed himself for being in this shitty situation. Who would have thought that Aki would be in the novel assigned as the damned summer readings?
Conor would surely be dead in the first volume of the novel, he was sure with that. But, how would Conor Tandefelt met his death? Was it poison? blade? Conor had no idea. The damned novel only mentioned that the fourth prince killed him off, and his family noticed that he went missing after that. Would he be in a dungeon tortured until death? Literally no one knew what happened to him, that Conor unconsciously shivered. Suffering the pain of dying once was more than enough, and now he needed to experience death one more time? There was no way he would let that happen.
At that moment, a knock resounded in the room. It was almost covered by the noises of the storm, but Conor could still hear it.
"Come in"
He let out a cold voice, slightly annoyed. Conor in the novel was described as a cold man, especially to servants and those below him. And after pondering a long time, he thought it didn't hurt to imitate the original Conor. He was still grumpy from being dead after all.
"Master requested Young Master to be present at dinner"
The servant who carefully stepped in said.
Conor in the novel known to be treating his servant according to his mood, and nobody could predict the mood swing of this teenage young master. Therefore, the slight tremble on the hands of the servant was understandable.
Conor observed the servant. She was the same servant who had been tending all his needs for these three days. She was young, probably around the same age as Conor. But the most noticeable thing was her pretty face. And yet, he was a bit uncomfortable looking at this beauty. It was due to the fact that she had asked him if he needed company a couple of times. He shivered when he realized what she meant by 'company' and quickly shooed her away.
Remembering that again, Conor sighed. The servant flinched in response.
"Tell him I will go down in thirty minutes"
He said without looking at the servant.
The servant was a little taken aback. Perhaps because she expected Conor to refuse again.
These three days since Conor existed in this world, he had been avoiding to meet with the other members of his family. He locked himself up in the room sleeping all day. He thought that by sleeping he would clear his mind. Yet, he had been having nightmares about some useless memories of his former life. That made him even more depressed. Not only that, this servant in front of him kept casually offered herself to his bed like it was the most normal thing in the world. Even if the original Conor would be elated, his present consciousness was getting stressed out by getting reminded that he now possessed a male body.
Once the servant was gone, Conor let out a loud sigh. His thoughts from these three days were getting tangled together. But one thing for sure was,
He should start scheming to avoid his death.
---
Walking to the dining room, Conor caught a sight of a tall man with slender built. His brunette hair matched his honey colored eyes, the exact same combination as Conor's. Conor spent a lot of time looking at the mirror since he wasn't used to his new face yet. And every time he stared at the mirror he thought he had a decent face, yet this man in front of him was on another level. His eyelashes were lush, his nose was tall, and his lips wasn't thick nor thin, perfectly complemented the other features. It was as if he was an angel himself.
Conor mouth was slightly agape, he didn't expect the description of the novel was on point. It was Elmer Tandefelt, the first son of Tandefelt family, his older brother.
Conor quickly composed himself. Conor was a girl in his previous life, but he was sure even men would be charmed by this older brother of him. He continued to stare hard at Elmer, who finally noticed Conor who came approaching his way. However, Elmer quickly evaded his gaze, his eyebrow went down like he was troubled. His expression clearly dictated that Elmer was not in a good term with Conor. And that was true. In the novel, their relationship was no better than strangers.
It wasn't a whole new experience to Conor. He used to have an older brother in his former life, and their relationship was more or less the same as Conor and Elmer's. And in this current situation, Conor and Elmer circumstances was rather perfect. Since that means Elmer would not realize Conor personality changes.
Elmer was the first to open the door to the dining room. Conor walked in after Elmer, and he saw a young lady already sitting down in the dining room. She had her light blonde hair neatly braided and tucked like a flower. The teal colored dress she wore matched her blue eyes, which now plastered to Elmer who walked into the dining room first. She was Viscountess Nadia, Conor and Elmer step-mother. She briefly threw a confused look the moment she saw Conor. Quickly changed her expression to a smile, she gestured to her sons to sit down.
"I never thought that you would show up at diner table, Conor" She said with her soft voice. Like a true noblewoman, every single words she let out was gracious.
Paying no hard thoughts, Conor sat down next to Elmer and answered,
"Father asked me to be here, so here I am"
When he thought about it again, the original Conor did not have any attachment to Viscountess Nadia whom only been in the family for three years, and he was actively avoiding Elmer too. In that aspect, there was no reason for the original Conor to gather with his family.
When Conor recalled the information from the novel, the door opened once again. That instance, everyone turned their gaze towards the door.
It was the Master of the house, Viscount Marcel Tandefelt.
Viscount Marcel was a really tall man just like Elmer, however he was packed in more muscle compared to Elmer. He also had the signature brunette hair and honey colored eyes. However, his face looked completely different from Conor and Elmer. While Elmer had a gorgeous looking face, and Conor had at least a decent face, their father had a common look of middle aged man with a slight beard. Conor was not surprised though, as their looks must be inherited from their dead mother.
Viscount Marcel finally sat down, and the meal started pouring in to the room.
Once Viscount Marcel took a bite, everyone in the room started their meal. This time, only clacking noises of utensils could be heard. None of them were talking nor initiated to start a conversation. Conor wondered if this tense atmosphere was the normal circumstances of the dinner table, or his presence was at fault. But he didn't care either way as he could savor meals which looked a Michelin star dishes. It was a nice experience considering he never had such a luxurious meal before. The meal he had in his own room during those three days were also delicious, but this dinner was on another level.
"Anything going on these days?"
Viscount Marcel suddenly asked, breaking the silence.
Conor didn't realize the words were for him before he looked up and met Viscount Marcel's gaze. He was enjoying his meal to the point he didn't pay attention to his surrounding.
"Not really. Why are you asking, Father?" Conor answered him, quite confused with that random question.
"I heard you haven't left your room for three days" Viscount Marcel said, still looking at his son with his cold gaze. It truly sent shiver to his spine. No wonder the original Conor was afraid of his father.
Conor tried to come up with something, but could not think of any.
There was no way he would say he was depressed because he died once. It wasn't like anybody would believe him. He would change his reputation from an asshole to lunatic after this.
Conor let down his utensils and was about to say there wasn't any problem at all, but then he thought of something. His lips turned slightly upwards, smirking.
'Might as well get rid of that creepy servant'
He thought, and quickly spoke off his mind.
"It's just... I want to change my servant" Conor said, slightly sighing.
The original Conor might looked like a needy son. However, the truth was he rarely asked for anything from his father. The most he asked was additional pocket money, but even that was occasional. The reason was, he was afraid he would get on his father's nerves.
But Conor knew something that the original Conor might never know. The stern and cold Viscount Marcel was actually...
A softie for his family.
