I have always been a big fan of The King's Avatar since i first encountered it. I have even watched both the animated series and the live action series. I am very much looking forward to this new prequel novel. 😁

Hello everyone! Syncogon here, bringing you the prequel translation. Butterfly Blue originally wrote this prequel back around 2015, and this translation has been my pet project for over two years now – I was translating this for a while before I began translating the novel officially. Unlike the main novel translation, which was worked on by a team, the prequel translation is entirely my own individual work, and I take deep pride in it. I am honored to now be able to bring the prequel to you in an official capacity. I have a lot of emotions about the prequel – about the characters, some new and some familiar but in a new context; about the stories that we now get to witness personally, instead of hearing about secondhand; about the additional insight we gain into this world of esports. There is a lot of good content here, and I hope that you enjoy this as much as I have. As of now, there are 21 chapters (that make up 7 “parts”) published on the official Chinese Qidian site. However, there are three more parts (maybe 6-7 more chapters) to the prequel: “Inheritance,” “The Beginning of Legend,” and “Dynasty and Youth,” which will take us up through the end of Season 3. If or when Qidian updates the raws on their site, then we will update the corresponding translation here. In the meantime, as always: thank you for reading, and may our glory never fade!

The King's Avatar was a part of my day I really looked forward to. With the main series ending, I'm sure it left everyone gloomy. Every good thing ends. That's what makes it previous. Really looking forward to this prequel though! So excited xD

This is the second novel on any aplication that I am willing to spend money and time to read it no matter what. I am here to say it's worth to read this novel. Glory is not only game but it's our life.

Butterfly Blue takes us to the past. The baby steps of Top Tier Players. A prelude to the fame of Glory. And most importantly, the synergy of what would have been the invincible duo if circumstances were changed. Read this after TKA to get to know the characters more and enjoy the rollercoaster of emotions you will feel.

【IMPORTANT INFO】 The anime movie is just a fanfic, we Chinese fans have always been boycotting it. In the original novel it is mentioned that YX smoked since less than 18 yo as well as WC. The playwright of the anime is a notorious fanfic writer of TKA in Chinese fandom. She ships SMQ x YX and Hundred Blossom duo. So wrote slash fictions about those two couples. She drew so many personal view into the movie. The movie changed the personality of YX(from the very beginning of his journey as a gamer he’s already made up his mind and he didn’t play for SMQ; he never regretted running out of home for playing games, he’s already mentally matured and his character is already built up and grown up from ten years ago, he’s not the growing up type of MC.—quote from an interview with the author BB), the age the SMC(She’s only 3/4 years younger than YX), sources of YX’s famous lines(even all of the motto-like lines SMQ said in the movie are from YX)......... the anime movie bombed at the box office in China because almost all of us, text-loyal fans, are boycotting it. Some of us even tore the prepurchased tickets up to show our anger. All I wanna say is that, pls pls pls don’t worship the anime movie as Bible . The real sources are only THESE TWO TEXTS: THE KING’S AVATAR AND THIS PREQUEL.

I think there can be more to the characters and there personalities but this is still really fun and good to read it thanks for the hard work you but in to it

Love the fact that we get more Kings Avatar, but all I really wanted was the ship between Su Mucheng and Ye Xiu. Please. I need this. This would make the ending all the better, as it’s kinda building towards them ending together. Idk how he would add it though.

Compared to the 'First' novel, this novel's quality is lower..... It seems to me that this is just added flavor after the end of the king's avatar novel. What I expect when I saw the novel is a 'real' prequel..... Of course what I expect to see is when Ye Xiu decided to run from home to play games to meeting Su siblings then to their rise in glory and then the creation of esports of glory then to the creation of team excellent era of course with Tao Xuan, Manager Cui, Ye Xiu, Su Mu Qiu (from a group of people from a computer shop to pro team) and Wu Xuefeng and to Su Mu Qiu's death and then to Ye Xiu's resolve to win championship for them.... This is what a prequel is (IMO) and not a how-they-meet-up and time-skips of fight.... Also because of the many time skips, there are many feelings and emotions that aren't portrayed just like how Butterfly Blue portrayed the feelings and emotions of the players in the middle of the novel...... It felt that this novel is kinda rushed, just like the ending of the novel of origin.... I'm really disappointed given the hype of this new novel after the ending of the mother novel.... *sigh~~ But still, all in all, I will still continue to read this since my score has nothing to do with the fact that I WANT MORE OF KING'S AVATAR!! And the enjoyment I got is still higher than what my score suggests.... What my score meant is my disappointment in my rant above.. ༼☯﹏☯༽

This is a good story. After completion of the original story, this gives the reader something to look forward for more. Awaiting for more update.

As a person who also love games especially RPG's. This is truly a relatable fantasy to be imagined with, people like me who did not have the opportunity to become a pro-gamer or wish to become one, can treasure this masterpiece and enjoy it's journey to become champions and feels like we are too. I really recommend these. Thanks for the author and the translators as well.

Let me add another review. This is a great story and like i said in my first review, the start of the legend and the beginning of the glory that will never fade. Its not just about the story behind our great god Ye who alongside with One Autumn Leaf battled against everything for Glory. It is the story of all the characters, the beginning of their dream, the start of the very beautiful esports that we have witnessed ten years from their current timeline. This is the story behind the laughters, tears, pains, wins, losses, and farewells of our beloved people in the main novel. This is absolutely amazing because we, the readers were once again given the chance to read their story and to know more about them. I LOVE TKA 😍😍

The prequel of TKA. A glimpse of the beginnings of Top Tier Players. The start of a the longest rivalry. The foundation of a dynasty. The debut of great playstyles and great players. Most of all, a character's appearance that make us see what would have been if he were truly alive in the present of TKA universe.
