Chapter 1. Start of a new life

Just think about transmigration for a bit!

Living a life with a world defying system, becoming the world's richest man, face smacking several young masters, sleeping with several beauties and living a dream life.

His life wasn't a easy going life like those in the novels. He didn't get a cheat or a system nor did he have some type of superpower.

Even after transmigration, he was ordinary. The most noticeable thing was that he was younger again and his senses were also seem to be improved.

He was a 24 year old adult in his previous world but now he was a 15 year old youth who was still in his third year of middle school.

He also didn't transmigrated into a rich family. The body which he is occupying came from a poor family.

When the previous owner was 13, his father died leaving him to take care of his mother and little brother.

To repay their debt, the previous owner had worked several jobs while still being a minor.

After that, he worked night shifts in a convenience store.

He really started to enjoy the care from his mother and the concern from his little brother.

After living in this world for some weeks, he was really glad that he was able to transmigrate into this world.

Because he was now 15 years old which was the legal age to work in this world, the bosses were not able to exploit him but he also faced some other problems.

Sometimes the boss will scold him without any reason and many times his coworkers would ask him to do their jobs.

As he had wanted to make money quickly, he never give any thoughts to the place he was working in.

He worked in run down factories and even some clubs. Due to this, he was very familiar with the society and all kinds of people.

You could even say that he learnt more than he learned in his previous life in just a year.

In this one year, he learned about the most important thing in life, money, the only thing that can make a man and destroy him as well.

The most infuriating thing in this one year was that no matter how much he earned, there was always chump change in his pockets.

All his money went to paying off their debts and his brother's school fees.

His brother unlike him was a brilliant student and he will surely do great in the future. In the past year, they had gotten real close and Ren wants him to go to a good law college and become successful.

His brother always had a high sense of justice and wanted to be a lawyer.

Despite being in debt, he and his mother are doing everything to send him to the best middle school in the city.

His brother also knows that and is working very hard to get a scholarship.

'I also have to do my best'

With these thoughts, Ren entered his rundown house and saw his mother standing there.

His mother was looking frail and weak and there was some wrinkles on her face, most of them which wasn't due to her age rather they are from fatigue and stress.

Everytime Ren saw the face of the woman who he had regarded as her mother, filled with worry and fatigue, he felt his chest suffocating.

He really wanted to become rich to give her mother a good life.

"Ren"

"Yes, mother"

His mother voice was slight hoarse, due to working late at night everyday, she had caught a cold but she couldn only take those old medicines as they can't afford to go to a hospital.

"I got a call from your school, your teacher wanted to talk with me and called me to the school this week"

'It must be about my attendance and low marks but why did…..Shiki sensei call her when he knew about my circumstances....'

Shiki sensei was his teacher at the middle school he goes to and he also knows about his family circumstances.

You could even say that, it was only because of him that he was still not expelled from the school. He had been covering for him till now.

"They must have called the wrong number, mother you don't have to worry about it"

"Really, but your teacher said your name"

"My teacher is old, mother. He must have mistaken. Don't worry about it"

"You aren't lying….to me, right?"

"Why would I lie to you mother. I am really saying the truth"

Ren was finally able to persuade her mother and he went upstairs to rest for some time.

His mother was a simple woman who was easy to persuade, just that she worries a lot about him. She was an innocent woman who only wanted to give her sons a good life.

He entered his room and the familiar scent of dust greeted him.

It was the same old dusty room he was living in for a year.

At first he was finding it hard to live in this old and dusty room but now, he was greatly familiar with this room.

Entering the room, he dropped down on his old and cranky bed to relive some of his stress.

He had been doing part time jobs since 4 A.M. in the morning and has to do two more jobs in the evening, the only time he can relax was now.

People his age will probably go on dates or play games with their friends on a weekend but he was busy doing part time jobs throughout the day.

It was tiring but he didn't regret it. It was for his family that he was doing this much work.

"I have to find more jobs during the summer break, there also the matter with Shiki sensei...."

Muttering that, he got up from his bed and opened his old computer. The computer was something that he had joined together with old parts.

It was one of the worst performing computer that can only open some information websites. He cannot play games or movies on it. It can't even play songs.

'Let's see if there is any additional information about the game'

Ren opened up the browser and started to search for information about the game, the whole world is looking forward to.

In the past year Ren had made a strange hobby which was looking for information about virtual reality.

As this world was more advanced than his previous world, virtual reality was real here.

In this world, mankind had found his way to virtual reality. It was not like the incomplete virtual reality in his world, it was real, fully immersive virtual reality.

A complete new reality created by mankind himself and in a year, ordinary people would be able to have a taste of the virtual reality.

In a year, the first VR game in the world «Ancient Age Online» would be released by the Pegasus Corporation.

The game will contain thousands of races, ten thousands of classes and hundred thousands of skills.

It was the most anticipated game of the year and countless players wanted to play it beforehand.

Ren was also like that but he knew it was impossible for him to play the game. Only the price of the cheapest VR headset is in tens of thousands not to mention the costs of running the game.

He can only dream about playing it. For now, he can only satisfy himself with learning information about the game and virtual reality.

"Ha, Yuuki-kun, you are finally here. I have been waiting for you. Today, there are a lot of orders, so you have to work hard"

The boss greeted Ren as he entered the shop. This was a ramen shop which was quite famous in this area. So, there was always a need for workers.

—The murderer Yoshika Kurou was on the run again. After being caught by the police one year ago, he had again managed to escape from the jail.

The news anchor was talking about a murderer who had escaped from the jail. You would surely see this kind of news once or twice in a year.

Prisoners escaping from the jail was a common topic. Various criminals will try to escape prison every year.

"He is a pretty dangerous criminal. You should be careful, especially at night"

The boss said to Ren as he noticed Ren glancing at the television.

"Really!"

"Yeah, I had heard that he had already did four murders and escaped jail two times"

"Well, whoever catches him will surely strike it rich"

With that conversation with the boss, Ren left the shop, thinking in his mind that he should warn his mother and brother not to go out at night.

"Your ramen has arrived!" Ren knocked on the door firmly and shouted.

There was no reaction from inside the house. As the doorbell was broken, he could only knock more strongly at the door.

There was still no reaction, so Ren started shouting.

"You delivery is here! Please come out quickly!"

In the end, the door was finally opened, revealing a man with long unkempt hair and shabby clothes. He was looking worn out like he hadn't eaten for some days.

"You are late, I was waiting for you"

"Sorry sir, as there were many orders, your order was a bit late"

"Well, I am not into the mood to argue. How much is it"

The man opened the door a bit wider and slowly came out.

Ren felt that the man was familiar somewhat but couldn't recall where he had seen him.

"What happened? Why are you staring at me?"

The man said with a bit of hostility in his eyes but Ren replied naturally without hesitation.

"It is nothing. By the way, the payment is 500 Yen"

"Yeah, the money. Where did I left the money? Oh, yes I remember"

The man pulled out a 500 Yen note and gave it to Ren before closing the door.

After making the delivery, Ren didn't left immediately and instead kept watching the house of the man.

He had previously felt hostility from the man and his unkempt hair and face keep bothering him.

It was like he had seen his face before but he couldn't remember who he was.

Ren closely examined the house of the man.

All the curtains of the house was closed and even the doorbell was broken.

Anyone would just think that it is a rundown house from it's appearance.

It was like the man was hiding from something.

'Wait, isn't that man similar to Yoshika Kurou, that murderer that escaped from jail'

Shock ran through Ren's mind as he remembered the news he had watched a while ago.

It was the news of a wanted murderer who had escaped jail, he also had been reported as a mental patient that can kill people without any concern.

Various thoughts were going through Ren's mind as he thought about it.

The more he thought, the more he was sure that the man inside the house was the wanted murderer that had escaped from the jail.

His first thought was to call the police and inform them but he stopped when he thought about the reward money.

'Yeah, there's the reward money'

Ren didn't knew how much will be the reward would be but any amount of money was important to him as he was in debts.

If he called the police without thinking it though, then maybe the police officer can try to snatch his reward.

It wasn't like he didn't trust the police but living a rough life had made him become more careful with others.

Living a rough life, he has seen various kinds of people and he knew that if he call a unreliable police officer, then he can snatch his reward.

The officer can just say that it was him who saw the murderer and Ren had nothing to do with it. If it comes to this then, Ren can do nothing as he didn't have any background.

Ren was in dilemma, right now. He wanted to call the police but he also didn't want to give the information to a unreliable police officer.

As he was thinking about whether he should call or not, he suddenly remembered a detective that was reliable.

'Yeah, if it's him he will surely not be greedy'

Ren remembered the detective, the previous owner had met during his father's accident.

He was a investigator with a high sense of justice. He was in his 30s and he helped Ren's family quite a bit during his father's accident.

That's why he still remembered about him.

He took out his flip phone which he had gotten as a bonus in one of his jobs. It was a junk phone that can only make calls but it was still a phone.

Ren dialed the detective's number that he had saved in his phone and called him.

After a few rings, the call was picked up.

—This is Yagami Taiko from the crime branch. Are you the kid from the last time.

It seems like detective Yagami still remembers Ren. He must have saved his number.

"Yeah, detective Yagami, I am Ren. I just wanted to ask you something"

—Ask me something? Kid, I am a very busy crime investigator. Don't waste my time.

"How much will I get if I told you the location of Yoshika Kurou"

Detective Yagami was going to end the call but he stopped when he heard Ren's words.

—Hey kid, are you playing a prank with me. The whole police force is out looking for that murderer and you are telling me that you know his location.

"Yeah, that's what I am saying. I certainly know his location"

—How do I believe if your information is true or not. We are getting several phone calls about people saying that they had seen that murderer.

"I am not lying. I can prove it. Yoshika Kurou didn't have a middle finger on his left hand"

—What! How do you know....Wait! You really have seen him. I am coming to the place you are at. Just give me your location.

Detective Yagami voice was shaky and you can literally feel the excitement coming from the other end of the phone.

Ren have previously seen that the man was missing

the middle finger on his left hand. It was also one of the reason he had felt that the man was suspicious.

He knew that if he simply give away the location of Yoshika Kurou then, maybe detective Yagami wouldn't have believed him thinking that it was just a kid making prank on him.

That's why he had told him about the finger. To prove the liability of his information.

"Shit. It is real. To think that he was hiding in this type of place. He really is a son of a bitch"

Detective Yagami used the walkie-talkie, requesting that reinforcements to be sent from the investigation headquarters.

"I found where he is hiding. Location…"

After reporting the location, detective Yagami looked towards Ren and patted his shoulders.

"Sorry for doubting you."

"No problem. Please be sure to catch him."

"Then. Watch as I catch him."

After that, the rest happened quickly.

The investigation had been in trouble because there were no witnesses to report the location. But now they knew exactly where he was hiding.

The police acted quickly and no mishaps happened in the arresting.

After contacting the special investigation headquarters, dozens of police cars arrived.

Ren watched in interest from a corner as the police broke through the door of the building.

Yoshika Kurou tried to run but with detective Yagami holding him, he couldn't run anywhere.

Yoshika Kurou was handcuffed and he started screaming.  

"Fuck! Which son of a bitch knew I was here? Tell me! I'll surely kill him! Tell me!"

Yoshika Kurou was taken away by five police officers while still furiously struggling.

Ren watched the show with great interest as he thought about the reward he will get.

He also called the ramen shop telling that there was some trouble and he will not be able to return.

The boss didn't asked much. He knew that Ren wasn't the type to ditch his job unless something very important came up.

After Yoshika Kurou was dragged out, the police entered the house to find any remaining evidence.

Ren also went to the police station to give his statement.

It was a simple process, he just have to tell the police about his encounter with the murderer and his role in it.

He did that flawlessly and he also didn't forget to exaggerate it a bit.

After Ren gave his statement, detective Yagami invited him to dinner.

Ren of course didn't reject him. It was a free meal for him, there was no way he was going to reject.

He also have to ask detective Yagami about the reward money and how he will get it.

They went into a Chinese restaurant. It was a slightly expensive restaurant but detective Yagami was in a very good mood and he couldn't careless that the food was a bit pricey.

After sitting down and ordering their food, they began to talk about simple things.

After some minutes, Ren finally asked the thing he wanted to ask about.

"Detective Yagami, I wanted to ask about the reward I will get"

"Reward? Yeah, I didn't have told you about it yet"

"How much will the reward would be, I mean how much money will I get?"

Ren was hoping for a reward of at least 500,000 Yen. He thought that the government would probably give that much for catching a wanted murderer.

He hoped it to be like that but when detective Yagami told him about the reward, he was stunned.

"The total amount would be 10 million Yen….."

"10 million Yen?!"

"Yeah, the criminal you catched was pretty dangerous. So, the government issued a big reward. Congratulations you are rich"

Ren eyes were on the verge of tears hearing that. It wasn't just a reward for him. He was able to pay off his debt with this much money and live in a good house without worrying about electricity bills.

He will be able to buy clothes for his mother and he also wouldn't have to do part time jobs.

"Hey, are you listening to me. I am not finished yet. There are also taxes that you will have to pay"

Ren wiped off his tears and started listening to the explanation detective Yagami gave him about the reward and the taxes implemented on it.

After the dinner with detective Yagami, he ran off to his rundown home.

He was very excited to tell the news to his mother and brother. He wanted to see their excited faces when he told them that they can live happily now.

All the way, he kept running, he was out of stamina but he still kept running just to tell his mother about it as soon as possible.

After reaching home, he directly slammed the door open and hugged his mother who was making dinner in the kitchen.

"Wait! Ren, what are you doing?"

"Nothing mother! Just I am too happy, right now"

"What happened brother? Do you get a girlfriend?"

His brother who was studying on the dining table asked but Ren didn't say anything and hugged him too.

"Wait! Why are you so happy?"

"Mother, Raito, I made money. We can now live happily"

"Money? How much money did you make to be so happy?"

"10 million"

"Ha, what did you say?"

"I made 10 million, mother. We can now pay off out debts and live a good life"

Ren shouted with joy as he stared at the expressions of disbelief on his mother and brother faces.

That was the day that the life of Yuuki Ren, a transmigrator greatly changed.
