Chapter 1William Steel

My name is William Steel. I am just an average sophomore at Beacon Hills High. I don't stand out in any way shape or form. I have average looks, grades, and there is nothing special about me. Well, there is one thing. Lately, I've seen the world as if it were a video game. Everyone has levels displayed above them with their name.

When it first appeared last night, I thought I was going insane until something weird happened the next day, the beginning of my sophomore year's second semester.

Scott McCall. I've known him since we were kids. We've never been close, but we've had a few small conversations during class in middle school. I think he's a pretty good guy. From what I know about him, the only person he's close to is Stiles, son of the sheriff and overall a funny person. But here's the weird thing.

When I saw him enter the classroom, I saw his level. His level was 10, the highest level I had seen before was only 7 and as far as I know, Scott is weaker than most people our age because of his asthma.

He sat down in the middle of the classroom. I made sure to sit behind him and to the right so I could watch him. As I was watching him a blue screen appeared in front of me with a beep. It read:

[A new skill is created by a specific action.]

Then another one appeared after it:

[Due to the continuous observation, a new skill [Observation] is created. It shows the information of the target.]

This was weird, but I decided to try it out on Scott.

[Scott McCall LV 10

HP:1500 MP:300

A newly turned werewolf. He has heightened senses, regenerative capabilities, and supernatural strength.]

As I'm processing this, Scott suddenly turned his head and looked out the window. I followed his gaze and saw a girl about our age talking to the principal. She looks like a new student. Scott followed her with his head as she walked into the school. But, weirdly, he kept turning his head, as if he were able to see her through the wall.

That's when I remembered that the skill had said Scott had heightened senses. It seems like he can hear through walls. As I was thinking about this, the girl was introduced.

Her name appears to be Allison Argent. She is very beautiful. As she sits down in the seat behind Scott and next to me, Scott hands her a pen and makes unnecessarily long eye contact as English class begins.

I keep watching him throughout class and then another message appeared:

[The level of Observation increased.]

This notification happened twice before class ended. I don't have any other classes with him, but I have a few with Allison, so I started talking to her. She's a really genuine person and pretty fun to be around. We became fast friends and exchanged numbers.

I decide in my last class that I'll find him and watch him at lacrosse practice. I need to know if the stuff I can see is real or if I'm really crazy, so I start looking for him.

I soon found him. He was staring at the Allison as she talks to Lydia Martin, queen of Beacon Hills High, and Jackson Whittemore, king of Beacon Hills High, captain of our school's state champion lacrosse team, Lydia's boyfriend, and the biggest douche on campus.

Lacrosse practice is about to start so I sit on the bleachers and continue with my observations (AN-Stalking is more appropriate.). I also decide to try to see if I have a status screen like in most games.

"Status screen." I say as quietly as I can under my breath. When I do a screen pops up in front of me:

[Name: William Steel

Occupation: The Gamer

Level: 5

HP: 170/170

MP: 120/120

Strength: 8

Dexterity: 9

Vitality: 10

Intelligence: 12

Wisdom: 22

Luck: 5

Point: 0

Cash: $30]

"Skill list." I quietly mumble.

Then a screen appeared with icons on it. There are 3. As I'm about to tap on one, I bring my hand back down and try to mentally click on it. After all, if I start waving my hand in the air, it'll bring unnecessary attention to me. Luckily, mentally clicking works too. Three screens soon appeared:

[[[Gamer's Spirit] LV Max] Recognizes the reality as a game and keep calm. Keeps the mind calm. Immunity to mental disorder.]

[[[Gamer's Body] LV Max] It provides the body to live the reality as a game.]

[[[Observation] LV 3] It shows the information of the target.]

After seeing this, I realize this power is much more OP than I thought. From what I can tell, I can create skills just by doing things and by repeating it over and over again, you can get better without even trying. I then try using [Observation] on my stats to see if I can get details on what exactly they do:

[[HP] Health Points. Life force of an individual. (Dexterity+Strength) x 10 = HP. 0.1% HP Regeneration per Vitality point per minute. Current HP Regeneration = 1% per minute.]

[[MP] Mana Points. Magical Essence. Intelligence x 10 = MP. 0.1% MP Regeneration per Wisdom point per minute. Current MP Regeneration = 2.2% per minute.]

[[Strength] Overall physical strength.]

[[Dexterity] Reflexes and speed.]

[[Vitality] Body's overall inner strength. It affects healing speed.]

[[Intelligence] Overall mental ability.]

[[Wisdom] Ability to solve problems. Think faster and more clearly the higher it is.]

[[Luck] How lucky you are.]

After I checked all of this, lacrosse practice started.

Allison and Lydia arrived at the bleachers. Allison saw me and sat next to me with Lydia on her other side. "Why are you here Will? Interested in joining the lacrosse team?" She asked with a smile. "Nope." I replied. "I'm not much of a sporty guy." I say as I flex my not so muscular arms, which elicits a giggle from her. "Why not ask Coach if you can be a manager then? They could always use the help." Lydia jumps in. "I'll think about it." I say to her with a smile.

Coach Finstock then put Scott as the goalie. Allison sees this and asks, "Who is that?" "Him?" Lydia says. "That's Scott McCall." I answer. "He's a little awkward, but other than that he's a pretty nice guy. He's not very athletic though. He has asthma, that's probably why coach has him as goalie. Less running means less likely to have an asthma attack." Immediately after I finish saying this, the whistle was blown, Scott looked like he was in pain. It seems he might have been listening to us.

Scott was knocked down by a shot to the face While still in a stupor. He then stands back up as the next person shoots for the goal. Scott catches this ball and surprised everyone, including himself, but I think I'm the only one who noticed that. Then he goes on to catch every shot made towards the goal.

"He seems like he's pretty good." Allison says. "Yeah. Very good." Lydia responds while I watch on in silence.

Jackson then heads to the front of the line, stops the next person who was supposed to shoot, and gets ready to shoot. He probably felt as if his place as ace of the team was being threatened and wanted to assert himself as captain as well as the best on the team. Jackson begins to run towards the goal. When he gets within range he jumps into the air and twists his body to maximize the speed and power of his shot, showing decent skill as a lacrosse player. However, even with this, Scott easily stops the shot. The onlookers start cheering, including Lydia, who also jumps excitedly. She makes brief eye contact with Jackson, who just shot the ball, before she stops cheering and just stands there looking at Scott. Afterwards, he shoots the ball to the other coaches stick and easily makes it inside the pocket. Practice soon ended and I decided to go home. Something had obviously happened to Scott. He was never so well coordinated before. I truly do believe the observation was right. No one with asthma should be able to play that well. I believe Scott is a werewolf.
