I understand maybe it's a cultural thing in a pot device but what is up with a modern era novel that has a forced arranged marriage? Like realistically speaking even among the Uber wealthy in most of our societies on earth no one just sells off their child in a business deal without the child first meeting and interviewing their potential spouse. and I know that the author is writing the female lead like she is okay with it and willing to go through with it but this is just rubbing me the wrong way. I guess even though she is writing the mom to be loving and trying to do the best for her daughter and happy about this and writing the daughter to be okay with it it just seems super disrespectful to the daughter to not even to take her thought or opinion into consideration about something that is going to affect her entire life and then giving her less than 24 hour notice about it. in fact it's kind of infuriating especially because the author is the one who controls writing this world in the author is actively choosing this for the female lead as a plot device.
