As for a certain crying baby who was about to flood the earth with her tears, she laughed inwardly. 'Pfft...since the two of you hate each other, how about I help you? I helped Mommy and Daddy become friends. Do you think this is a difficult task?'
Although Little Jia did not really understand the concept of conflict and hatred, she was clever enough to know when people did not like each other or in her own childish understanding, 'they were not friends'.
Being sensitive, she had sensed that hostility between her parents before and deliberately acted out to draw them a little closer. The results were even way faster and better than she expected.
This time, she saw her mother trembling in the presence of her grandfather. Paired with the angry Lu Tongyan, she guessed that it was most likely Grandpa who did not like Mommy.
"Daddy, I don't want to go to Second Uncle. Let's go home..." she lifted her tiny head to look at her father miserably, as if she had suffered a huge grievance.
Lu Aotian could only relent. After all it was his fault for bringing Wan Jia over in the presence of the easily scared little girl. "Then, princess, let's go and say goodbye to second uncle."
Lu Aotian took her in his arms and pulled Wan Jia along.
All the while the two brothers made their small talk, the little girl would peek over her father's shoulder to the entrance at practically a five second interval.
"What's Second Uncle's favorite baby looking for?" Lu Shaoting asked.
Little Jia frowned and looked like she was in deep thought. As if she was making a very didfficult decision.
Grandfather had remained outside alone. If she called him in, she would have to drop the 'grandpa is scary, I'm scared' act. On the other hand, if she really let him stay outside alone, what if he thought she was a bad girl and stopped liking her?
She wanted grandpa and mommy to be friends, but she did not want to lose either of them.
While these were the thoughts running through her little brain, from an outsider's perspective it looked as though she was afraid that her grandfather will come in.
"We have to go." Lu Aotian finally said.
"Princess, say goodbye to grandfather." he put her down as soon as they were out again.
The little girl immediately clutched to his trousers in what appeared to be 'a life and death grip' as she tried as hard as possible to hide behind him.
Lu Tongyan felt his heart shatter into tiny pieces as he watched the little girl's actions. Just how much had he scared her? Children were sensitive, it could not be helped.
"Baby doesn't want to give Grandpa a hug?" he asked coaxingly. "You don't want Grandpa anymore?"
She blinked innocently with her still slightly wet eyes. Of course she wanted grandpa! Grandpa, can you please stop making things difficult for me?
She almost fell for Grandpa's sweet coaxing. No! I must focus. She made her face look even more serious but to an outsider, she looked even more adorable, compelling people to want to hug her.
"Grandpa hates Mommy. If grandpa doesn't want Mommy, then grandpa doesn't want Little Jia." she whined as she clung tightly onto her father's leg to 'evade' the approaching grandpa.
"Grandpa does not hate your mommy." he had no choice but to lie.
Well, he could not exactly call it lying. He really did not hate Wan Jia. He was just angry with her for leaving his son.
Wan Jia, who had kept quiet all this while, was feeling awkward.
"Grandpa likes Little Jia's mommy very much." he continued.
Huh? Was she having an auditory hallucination? Did she just hear Lu Tongyan say that he liked her? Very much at that?
Even Little Jia widened her already big eyes. Was this not progressing too fast?
It was "She is not welcome here" just a few minutes ago and now it's already "I like her very much"? Did she possess some kind of special powers she knew nothing about?
"Aotian, take Little Jia away first. Let me talk to Wan Jia for a while."
Wan Jia immediately had an apocalyptic expression on her little face. She silently looked up to Lu Aotian for help.
"Father, are you sure you don't want to go in and rest?" he asked.
"You punk!" his father shot him a look. "Do you think I want to swallow your woman alive? When you marry her, whose daughter-in-law will she become?"
When you marry her, whose daughter-in-law will she become? Lu Aotian caught onto the meaning behind the second part of the statement. Did that mean he acknowledged Wan Jia and could even possibly consider giving her a chance?
Hey, did you say you wanted to speak to my wife? She's all yours. You can chase each other to your heart's content.
"Wanwan," he looked at her tenderly when Lu Aotian left.
W...Wanwan? Wan Jia herself was shocked at how he adressed her. "I don't really hate you, please don't get me wrong." he corrected the misunderstanding without any delay.
What would he do if Little Jia really hated him thinking that he was a bad and scary person?
Hence, he continued, "I'm just afraid that you will lead my son on again then dump him in the end." He looked at her slightly nervously. "Didn't...didn't you do that before? My stupid son is just...so stupidly blinded by love" he sighed.
