He owed him a life

How unlucky. She just had to faint two whole times within half an hour. When she woke up, it was late at night and she was in hospital. She saw her mother's familiar bag on a nearby chair and immediately knew that she had rushed over to visit her.

After looking around the room for a while, her mind couldn't help but wander. Could it be that her father was really a bad person? Was Tyler right about him?

It wouldn't make any logic sense for the kind hearted father she knew to be capable of wanting to murder someone for the laughable excuse of "they might have information that could destroy him". Unless he was hiding something, that reason wasn't in the very least plausible.

Now that she thought about it, it was quite possible that he and Tyler had met before. After all Tyler was working for a private intelligence unit and wouldn't just frame people if he knew nothing. On the other hand, she did not want to believe that the father she had looked up to for years could possibly be a criminal.

Unbeknowsnt to her, her beloved father was currently torturing the mercenaires from earlier. It would have been a little better if he were to punnish them for kidnapping his daughter, but his main point was that they did not kill Wan Jia.

….

Southside Villas.

"Where did you go? You were unreachable." Wan Jia complained as soon as she saw Lu Aotian walk in.

He changed his shoes before sweeping her off the sofa. "I still had a company matter to handle." He said while heading upstairs.

"I missed you." She whined.

He kissed her soft lips. "I'm so handsome. It would be a surprise if you did not miss me."

Wan Jia's mouth twitched. Just how self loving had this man become?

"You're not going to look for Little Jia?" she asked when he kicked open the door to the master bedroom.

"I'll look for her later" He noticed her weird look. "What? You're scared you won't be able to stop yourself from wanting to eat me up?"

Wan Jia's expression indicated that she did not wish to argue with him.

Who the h*ck will want to eat you up? Can you not be too narcissistic?

"I just miss her, okay? She hasn't come back yet and it's already late." She said.

"Don't worry. She's always been like that. She won't leave that house too easily once she sees her grandpa."

What he did not say was that every time she left the old residence, she would be in tears.

Apart from her second uncle Lu Shaoting, Little Jia had someone else she loved even more…and that was her grandfather. In actual fact, the only reason why she loved Lu Shaoting so much was because he lived together with her grandfather and could take her to see him whenever she wanted.

While her mother was busy fussing over her disappearance, the tiny thing was currently snuggled comfortably on her grandfather's lap, refusing to let go even when she was asleep.

"Haih, Little Jia indeed loves grandfather the most." The old man sighed.

Lu Shaoting, who was jealously watching the scene, almost coughed out blood. Little Jia loves grandfather the most? More like she loves everyone the most. In fact, there was no single person she had met and not told that she loved them the most.

She looked too cute clinging onto her grandpa's clothes like he would be snatched away from her. How he wished to get married and have a child too…A daughter would be nice. She would grow up and become her cousin's playmate.

No, a son would be better. Although he would be a few years younger than Little Jia, he could still protect her in future. Later, if Lu Aotian and Wan Jia had a son, his son would protect Little Jia's brother, just like Lu Aotian had protected him when they were younger.

When they were still young boys, he had always thought that Lu Aotian hated him. Of course his assumption was not unfounded. The two of them had been best friends when they were little children.

Then suddenly Lu Aotian started playing with the older boys in school and ignoring him. He would no longer bring him along wherever he went and at one point he even requested to be taken to school by a different chauffer and in a different car from Lu Shaoting's.

One day, he even confronted him while he was playing basketball with older teenagers and asked him, "Why do you keep shutting me out, I'm your brother!"

Lu Aotian had corrected him coldly,"Half brother."

Hence began the familiar 'cold war' between brothers.

That was until one day, when a fire broke out in the school lab. He was a very cheeky teen then and by not paying close attention, he had accidentally messed up an experiment and started the fire.

For a long time, no one noticed that one of students who were in the lab when the fire started was missing. No one except Lu Aotian who was just coming out of the library when the news broke out and his first reaction was "My brother!"

He had seen him enter the lab. However, he was not among the assembled students.

Losing all rationality, the young man had broken through the security defenses before anyone could stop him and when the situation got sticky with only the two of them inside, he had declared that if the circumstances would only allow one of them to survive, that would have to be Lu Shaoting…
