Wan Jia shook away her stupid thoughts. Lu Aotian was only being rational.
Night fell. The mother and daughter pair had played so hard all afternoon that they fell asleep sprawled on the soft carpet.
As much as Lu Aotian didn't want to interrupt their quality time, they still had to eat. Little Jia was still little and shouldn't skip meals while Wan Jia, well.... someone had to take good care of her or her gastritis would relapse.
He knocked on the door.
"Princesses, I know you're enjoying your playtime but you have to...." at this point, he had opened the door and was dumbfounded.
Two cute sleeping figures were sprawled on the carpet. Little Jia lay snuggled in Wanjia's embrace with her cheek practically sticking onto her mother's.
They both looked so adorable.... just one of them was enough to make one bleed out of cuteness, what more both of them together. A warm smile appeared on Lu Aotian's face and he couldn't help whipping out his phone to take a photo of them.
That became his phone wallpaper.
Too bad he had to wake the sleeping beauties... he carried Little Jia off Wan Jia's embrace. This should wake them up.
Little Jia was naturally not happy about leaving her mommy's warm embrace. She shot her father an angry look.
Lu Aotian chuckled.
"It's time to eat, princesses." Then he realised what he had just called them. Princesses? He had just indirectly called Wan Jia a princess too?
Little Jia rubbed her eyes with her little fist adorably and whined.
"Daddy, Mommy is not a princess. I am the princess. Mommy is your queen"
Wan Jia "...."
Lu Aotian's.... queen?
Actually, it wasn't such a bad idea...
Lu Aotian looked at the two of them dotingly and led them to the dining table.
After dinner, Wan Jia naturally had to go back to her apartment.
Little Jia asked with her brows knitted "Isn't Mommy supposed to live here with Daddy and Little Jia?"
Wanjia coughed. "No, Mommy has her own house."
"But other kids' Mommies live together with their Daddies." She shrugged.
"Eer, Little Jia, don't ask too many questions. Go to sleep now, okay? Mommy will come to see you again."
She secretly glanced at Lu Aotian. She shot him a glare. Damn you Lu Aotian! can't you even help me explain when this kid is just as interrogative as you?!
Lu Aotian gave her a look that said: I have to deal with your seduction genes everyday so deal with mine.
The little girl showed no mercy towards her mother.
" Is it because Mommy doesn't want Daddy anymore?"
When did I ever want your Daddy?
"Baby, that's because Mommy and Daddy are not friends." That was the only way to describe their situation in the baby language. "Now go, princesses should sleep early, goodnight baby." She kissed her soft cheeks.
"Goodnight Mommy, goodnight Daddy."
Luckily, she ran to her room. Little Jia seemed to be quite obsessed with acting like a princess and would do whatever her father said princesses do, and in this case, her mother too.
The two adults were left alone.
"I'll be on my way now."
"I'll get someone to send you."
"No...no need. I'll hail a cab."
Hail a cab? Who was she kidding? Unless she wanted to walk all the way home....
"I'll send you." His tone left no room for discussion. She robotically walked to his car, shrunk into the shotgun seat and fixed her eyes out of the window.
She was trying to avoid Lu Aotian's presence when she felt his body drawing closer.
She froze. What was he doing...
Oh, he was just helping her fasten her seatbelt. She couldn't help but think about the first time he had helped her fasten her seatbelt. It was the first day of their marriage.
However, on that day, there were sparks going off between them and her gaze was fixed on his handsome face while today, even though there were still sparks flying, she wanted to run away from them and was avoiding his handsome face.
Lu Aotian turned on the music to dissipate the awkward atmosphere. Instantly the air was filled with love lyrics.
Today's a new day
But it's quite boring without you,
I wish I was there where you are,
But am all alone
In this lonely place,
Baby you are so close yet so far away
I miss you, I love you
But I can only wish
Eer...these lyrics made her feel quite self conscious.
Lu Aotian was gripping the steering wheel tightly but it couldn't be any more obvious that he was listening to the song intently. Did this artist have a grudge against her?
Suddenly, she felt the familiar presence again.
He was not.....was not going to kiss her, was he?She shrank into her seat like a kitten whose tail has been stepped on only to realise he was just helping her unfasten her seatbelt.
Oh, they had arrived. She had been too absorbed into the lyrics to realise it.
She stepped out of the car and was about to run into her apartment.
"Wanwan"
She turned around. It was quite rare for Lu Aotian to call her that. Before their divorce, he had always called her Mrs. Lu, honey, my love and other sweet nicknames. As for after the divorce, she had always been Ms. He to him. He knew that she hated her surname to the bones but that was exactly what he called her the two times they met and all the people he sent to her would use that terrifying name. Perhaps it was deliberate...
Lu Aotian was standing outside the car and looked at her with a deep gaze. He looked like he wanted to say something but changed his mind.
"Goodnight." He finally said.
"Goodnight."
"Rest early," princesses should sleep early were his unspoken words.
"You too." She ran off.
Lu Aotian watched her back as she disappeared and waited till he saw the lights turn on on the seventh floor.
No matter what it takes, he would make her his again. He just needed some time and a certain little angel...
