[C-Cooking no big deal right? I-I can do this!] thought Mary to herself as her hands shook sporadically.

[No big deal? The last time you thought that you lost your friends remember?] responded Bloody Mary.

[B-but this is different!]

[Mmm, is it really? Is it any different at all? Tell me, do you truly believe it's any different at all?]

[I-I don't, I-I mean...]

"Mary! Mary!" Shouted a voice directly in front of her.

Snapping out of it, a startled Mary fell backwards. "G-G-Gon? D-don't you hate me like the others!?"

He seemed to be in deep thought for a moment before answering, "Why would I hate a friend?"

[He's trying to fool you, don't believe him, you saw how he paused for a moment. He's just here because he knows you can cook and needs help. Watch, if he asks he's not really a friend.]

[I don't believe you! He's an honest person! Sure he may be naive at times, but no matter what he's still one of the few people who'd never lie!]

"Mary!" Gon said worriedly as he waved a hand in front of her face. "Are you ok? You've been losing focus a lot recently. It isn't like you, you're usually always perceptive of what's going on."

"I-I'm fine, I swear, I've just had a lot to think about recently."

"Like what?"

"L-L-like..."

Before she could really start a loud sound cut her off.

"W-what's going on?"

"Cmon the second phase is starting, Mary let's go!" Gon said as he led her to the others.

Deep inside the Visca Forest

"Tsk, I can't believe we have to work with her." Said Leorio.

"Agreed." Said Kurapika.

In a barely audible voice the person in question muttered, "I-I'm sorry."

"Whatever just help us out, that's the least you can do." Said Leorio.

"H-hey Gon, what is our objective anyway?" Whispered Mary.

"We're supposed to make a dish that uses pork." Killua said abruptly.

"T-thank you Killua."

"I didn't do it for you, it's just that Gon went over to ask you for help cooking. So I doubt he paid any attention to Menchi."

It was then that Mary's heart sunk as Bloody Mary's words rang in her ears. "So it was true wasn't it?" She muttered. "I-I'm sorry I need some time alone, t-thank you Gon."

Tears filled her eyes as she ran away, with Gon following behind her as the others followed behind him.

[Hmmm this is odd. Could it be that you were wrong again? Wow how weird! You know for someone, what did he call you again? Perceptive you really can't notice the simplest things can you? All you ever do is ruin things, you can't even fix a friendship, so how do you expect to make new ones? This time you were just lucky, and guess what? You'll never be this lucky ever again.]

As she ran away from the others Mary continued on, not listening in the slightest. She was oblivious of her surroundings. The shouts of the four behind her fell on deaf ears as her sadness muffled the sounds of the world. To Mary the world had lost its color, when suddenly, before her she saw an escape, a door made of light, and as she walked closer and closer to it, reaching for its golden handle. She fell down with a 'Splash', directly into the river's raging rapids.

As the other four ran towards the river, one of their voices shook the air around them as he screamed.

"Mary!" Shouted Gon.

Moments later

"Mary! Wake up!" Gon cried as he shook her.

"It's no use Gon, look her wounds have opened once more and her leftmost rib has punctured her lungs. It's over for her." Said Leorio solemnly. [I was too late yet again.]

"Isn't there something, anything we can do?" He cried.

Inside Mary's mind

[You really are an idiot aren't you? Don't you realize what you're doing!? Not only have you ruined your own life, but your destroying the only body I have! "I want to make my own story!" I still believe that that's the best joke you've ever told. So stop interfering with my games if you no longer care about your own life! Mary!]

[Tell me why sister, why are we both alive? Isn't this enough? Isn't the pain you've caused me to live through more than enough!]

[Of course it isn't! So get back out there now!]

"Please Mary! Come back!"

Behind him a boy with white hair walked up to the little girl's corpse and picked her up.

"What are you doing?" Asked Gon.

In an instant he threw the corpse into a tree, causing a loud sound to ring in their ears.

"Don't, Don't you dare desecrate the dead, Killua." Said a boy with shining red eyes as he pulled out a pair of wooden blades and pointed them towards him.

"I'll tell you this now, all of you need to move on, the exam won't stop because of her death." He said with a clenched fist. [I'm sorry Gon.] "Come on, let's go."

As they stood up and as Killua picked up the still crying Gon, the sound of leaves rustling and leaves being crushed filled their ears. "And go where exactly?" Asked the presumably dead girl. "After all you'd be leaving that disgusting 'friend' of yours behind." She said with her blonde hair as she turned to look at Killua with her crimson eyes. "I'll tell you all this now, the dead can't die, but they can live on. So take good care of that idiot known as my 'sister' after all this is my body too."

She then turned around and muttered something as her hair turned a stark platinum.

"G-Guys, I'm ready to tell you all the truth. T-that is if you're willing to hear it."
