Who Was He?

Feng Xinying rushed to her home directly from the airport and was received by the butler of the house on the front door. He was so happy to see her. He said, "Young miss! I can't believe my eyes. How are you doing?" he collected her suitcase from her hand. Finally the real heir of the Feng Conglomerate had come and he was extremely satisfied that in his old age he got to see the next generation heir of the billion dollar empire.

Feng Xinying was wearing large black glasses, which she took off as soon as the butler took her luggage. The butler could see the puffed eyes of the young miss. He became sad and said, "So sorry about your father young miss. He suffered from a brain stroke and doctors could not help him."

Feng Xinying's fresh tears rolled out. She entered the house and saw that many people were already there who had come to show their grief. But to whom? They all started looking at her and as soon as they recognized her, they bowed. She walked amongst the crowd making her way to the center of the living room where everybody seemed to gather.

She reached there slowly and was shocked to see the people who were present there. Feng Xinying looked around and saw that her aunts and uncles were all sitting there and in the middle of them she was sitting – the woman because of whom she had left the house, Xie Weihui. The first emotion that crossed her mind was to go and slap her and throw her out of her house. But she realized that Xie Weihui was wearing a black mourning dress and was referred to as the wife of Feng Zhantian. She reeled under the shock. How come she never knew that the woman had married her father? Did Keira hide that fact from her?

What was even stranger was that a man who was sitting close to her and consoling her was now looking at her intently. He looked very familiar. Who was he and why was he looking at her like that?

Feng Xinying went and sat down with her family members as that man's gaze followed her. She was repulsed by the idea of sitting with Xie Weihui.

Xie Weihui saw her and through those puffy eyes she nodded at her. She appeared to be in control and wasn't throwing herself around in grief like some unsophisticated woman. Rather she was soberly and seriously receiving all the guests while wiping the tears that would keep falling out of her eyes unbridled.

All the family and guests went to Xie Weihui first and then to Feng Xinying to express their condolences. Feng Xinying sat their quietly waiting for everyone to leave so that she could get answers to her questions.

Her two aunts came to her and said, "Xiaoying, where were you all these years? Your father never talked about you but he was always worried about you. He missed you a lot," said one of them.

"Yes, YingYing, your father had talked to me about you only once just after you had left. He was very angry with you. I told him that why don't you bring her back, but he was very adamant. He thought that he had spoiled you a lot and that this was the best punishment you would receive," said another aunt.

"Feng Xinying, it seems you really did well in America and you didn't need his help. I am sure he was very proud of you…" said the first aunt.

Feng Xinying listened to them and fresh tears started rolling out of her eyes. She had left him five years back and now she really had lost him forever.

Her uncle came near her and patted her head saying, "Xiaoying, so sorry for your loss. But the good thing about all this is that you have returned. Now don't go back and look after your father's company."

Slowly, all the guests left the house leaving only three people there, Xie Weihui, Feng Xinying and that man.

Wearing a black suit, he looked like a model walking out of fashion magazine. Dark eyes, thin lips and a slender nose were complimented by a strong jawline that made him one of the most attractive men Feng Xinying had ever seen. When she looked at him again, their eyes locked and she could feel coldness in them. He looked so familiar… Who was he? And why was he so close to her stepmother?

It was too late in the night and without giving much thought to him, Feng Xinying left for her bedroom. She didn't even talk to her stepmother. Looking at her merely was making her furious. How would she even stay with her under the same roof? Perhaps she would ask her to leave the house tomorrow…
