Seeing as shiro is hungry, let us get some facts on diet and nutrition. So as you all know we as humans are omnivore creatures. Means nature has us geared to eating plants and meat. We are also in dire needs of both as as getting many vitamins is tedious if you don't eat vegetables and fruits (although you need far less than most people imagine, this whole eat 5 colors/5 different fruits/veggies a day has no scientific basis). But also eating animal based products is important because the vitamins of the B category and many amino acids are far more abundant and easier to get via animal based products. In our development as humans and especially the modern human we had three major changes to our diet (though not all humans). The first and most important of all was the 'discovery' and mastery of fire and thus the availability of cooked meat. It is easier to eat, easier to digest and doesn't spoil as easy. It is assumed that this 'development' in prehistoric times was one of the main contribution to us getting bigger brains and having higher fertility and survivability (as for example also young children and the 'elderly' could be fed more efficiently). The second was the emergence of the mutation to be able to drink milk past infancy. Probably originating from Scandinavia and maybe also central Russia it gave the 'northeners' a edge mean to get enough nutrition in the less friendly environments (this mutation is very much a European thing if you want, as it spread from Europe to northern Asia and north Africa and the middle East. History fun theory: it is today debated if the ability to drink milk gave the Mongols even more of an edge against the Chinese, they mostly can drink milk and thus presumably transported fermented milk and it's follow products (eg. cheese) and had thus a less bloated supply train (milk provided by the horses they rode) because cheese is far more calorie rich and compacter than rice (the main diet component of Chinese soldiers)) The third would be the emergence of agriculture in today's Iraq. It lead to the possibility of creating much more food more efficiently (especially when combined with herding). The development implications of agriculture and herding are nearly impossible to overstate. Medicinal facts and findings to grain based diet: The emergence of sugar (in the chemical sense not just Saccharose) also lead to many problems. Details omitted it lead to: shrinking jaws and deterioration of mouth hygiene. fun fact: dolphins are one of the only animals on the planet to have a sense of humor except us humans. they have been reported to catch fish from their back and dragging them backwards and making them swim at the same spot over and over again. and apparently its funny for them
