Taking a nice long hot bath, I soon stood up and walked out into the living room wearing only a towel as I searched through my belongings for a pair of underwear. Turning, Maya came out from her room wearing a cute set of pink pajamas and met my gaze.
"Oh! Rose? W-um.. What are you doing? "Tilting my head as I stood up, I then leaned over and held out my hand while holding a pair of black panties and a matching bra. "Um, yeah. Sorry. Y-You, yeah. "
Heading back into her room all flustered, I smiled and exhaled a light gasp as I found her reactions amusing. Turning to the bathroom and changing into my pajamas, I walked out of the bathroom wearing a black tee shirt and a pair of grey sweats.
Taking a seat on the comfortable sofa, I kicked up my feet and leaned against the pillows as I went on my phone for a while. Afterwards, I doze off and woke up a while later to see a warm blanket wrapped over me that Maya must have gave me.
Though it was all new and weird, I oddly felt at home with Maya as she was sweet and kind to a stranger like me. I slightly chuckled when the thought of having a stern talk with her over picking up strangers from airports is a bad idea.

Sitting up to the smell of eggs and bacon, I turned around and felt my stiff neck ache at the same time. Holding a morning filled gaze, I turned to find Maya making breakfast as it was still dark outside. Looking for my phone, I then found it underneath the pillow and checked the time.
It was still in the early hours of the morning and I had only slept for a few hours. Standing up I flinched when my toes touched the cold floor and powered through it as I got up. Heading over beside Maya, she suddenly turned and smiled as she told me 'good morning'.
"Today's Monday, right? "Resting my head over the kitchen table as I took a seat, Maya nodded as she confirmed it was. "Okay. "
After a slight while of silence, she then asked if I had any plans to head out today. Responding with a slight yawn, I then told her I was thinking of looking for a place to stay before heading to the University.
A clear silence fell between us as she suddenly turned off the stove and placed the eggs onto the two plates. Turning around with them both at hand, she set them down carefully and took a seat beside me.
"Do you mind if I tag along? "Looking at me as I began eyeing the plate, I nodded and began eating after thanking her for the food.

"Ready? "Standing at the side entrance to the garage, Maya was looking around for her scarf as we were getting ready to go to the university which I marked on my phone already.
"Coming! "As she shut off the lights to her room, she closed the door and walked past me as we headed into the garage. "Alright. Let's get going. "
As we got in, Maya's puffy jacket made noise in the quiet car. The sound of her keyes juggling soon turned beside the steering wheel and the engine of the car abruptly came to life. Waiting for a quick minute before pulling out into the driveway, Maya suddenly remembered she forgot something and left the car to go get it.
Waiting patiently inside the car, I then began fiddling with the many touch sensitive panels on the dashboard and began playing music. Tilting my head lightly, Maya soon opened the door and got inside as I lowered the volume and she smiled while setting her phone into the cup holder between us both.
"Hey, can you look in the glovebox for a cable to charge my phone, please. Yea-"Pulling out into the driveway, the car swayed as I opened the glovebox and took out a purple cable charger to charge her phone.
Plugging the end to an adapter in the port on the dashboard, I soon plugged her phone in and saw it begun to charge. As we stopped at the gate, we waited for it to open and soon went onto the large road.
Stopping at a light every other street, the morning traffic was insane. I soon began getting sleepy once more as Maya had the heater on for my sake. Her kindness was an attractive feature about her.

Lifting my weary eyes over my seat, I looked out into the hazy morning fog that had crept up out of nowhere. Shifting in my seat closer to Maya, she glanced down at my hand over my shoulder. Seeing me begin to tremble, I felt her shoulder bump into mine gently as to calm me.
"Sorry… I'm not a big fan of these kinds of fog. "Looking out the wet window, I watched the small droplets of water slide effortlessly downward.
After a while, the fog soon cleared and we arrived at the University on a one way road into a forest. Driving in and parking the car on an open strip of dirt road, Maya shut off the car. Adjusting in my seat, we grabbed our things and stepped out into the cold morning air. Snuggling into my coat, I looked around at the tall and dry trees all around.
Taking my favorite faded satchel I had brought with me, I turned to Maya as she walked over to my side. When I met her soft and kind face, I all but forgot to exhale as I blinked and cleared my throat when she pointed it out.
Heading into the university, Maya waited out in the hall as I finalized my paperwork and received my as well as student room ID. Meeting up with Maya, we walked towards the hall and turned the corridor where we saw the in-school dormitory complex at the far end of the school grounds.
~
Walking inside through the glass front doors, we took an elevator to the third top floor and walked down the room numbers. Finally arriving at mine, I sniffed my runny nose and entered the ID. As I opened the door, we walked inside and found no one inside.
Tilting my head, I soon blinked as I could see some kind of amazing display of lingering light hovering all over the room. Though, to Maya, it was empty and bland.
"Someone's here. "Turning to meet my amazed expression, I was simply stunned by the amount of colors swirling all around long after someone had been here. "It's incredible. "
"Oh… really? "Snapping around, we both were spooked by the abrupt voice behind us as we turned and stared at menacingly emotionless girl. "I assume one of you is my new dorm-mate. Welcome, do not touch my things-"
Lost, I could only cover my mouth from behind my scarf as I found it intentoy difficult to keep my eyes open. The insane amount of colors and energy coming from her were enough to make me collapse. Staggering back a step, Maya held me as I shut my teary eyes.
"Rose… Rose!? "Handing on, I lowered my face and when with my eyes closed, I could still feel overwhelmed by the light. "Sorry, we are leaving, now! "
Having no choice in the matter, we soon left the room and exited the elevator onto the lobby floor. Taking a seat in the hallway, Maya did jot hesitate to remove my scarf and coat as I was drenched in sweat. Inhaling iraticaly, she soon took out a bottle of water and had me drink as to calm me down. Holding me close to her chest, minutes passed and I had begun calling down. Maya's beating heart was strong in my ear as she was clearly worried about me.
Strands of my hair soon fell from my beanie and sure enough, it sled off and my hair began flowing elegantly towards my back and chest. As I opened my eyes, I raised my arm and held onto Maya's sleeve. Maya then did the unexpected and covered me with her warm embrace as I felt heavy, pained tears drip onto my cheek.
As I stared up, I met her worried face and couldn't help but smile uncontrollably as I couldn't believe how far this woman would go for a complete stranger.
It was almost like… as if she was a beautifully crafted dream.

"Rose. "Turning my gaze from the dashboard of the car to the driver's seat, Maya closed the door as she set a bag from the convenience store in between us both. "Here. Drink, please. "
Drinking an energy drink filled with electrodes and other nutrients, Maya then shifted through the plastic bag filled with all kinds of different brands of medicines and natural energy drinks she had bought all together.
The sound of cars passing us by on the road behind us, we were only a mile or so down from the university and stopped at the convenience store at this gas station in the forest road. After taking a few mild pills for my headache and sore throat, I shifted in my seat as I closed my eyes to rest for a quick second.
Maya soon attempted to started up the car and as she tried, the engine didn't take. Banging her hands onto the steering wheel, she raised her composed expression and checked on me repeatedly as I could feel her fingers poking through my coat to see my resting face.
After a while, she got out of the car and headed back into the store. From the sound of things, Maya surprised me even more when she pushed the car onto the edge of the gas station road and opened the hood of her car to find the problem.
~
After an hour of resting my eyes, I was breathing slowly and calmly as I was almost back to myself. Thinking of all but nothing, my eyes turned to the raised hood on the other side of the glass. Watching from between the thin gap, I could see Maya shifting and sniffling around with the engine.
Before long, a passing trio of luxury cars stopped and pulled onto the side of the road to help us. When I saw them, I felt at ease as they all held warm coats of color around their air. Closing my eyes, I fell asleep for a while and woke up again a little later and we were already on the road.
Turning slowly to see Maya, she glanced over while stopping at a red light back in the city.
"Morning. You seem a little better than before. You okay? "Adjusting in my seat, I took a look around the narrow and crowded street to see dozens of hundreds of cars in a packed public roadway.
"Maya… "My voice was groggy and faint, Maya couldn't help but hanging in my every syllable. "Sorry… thanks for taking care of me again. "
A soft and warm expression hung over Mayas face and with it, a soft grin with a nodding head as she was happy I was fine again. Waiting out the traffic, we eventually arrived back to Maya's home early in the evening. As she pulled up the driveway, I unbuckled my seatbelt and turned as Maya was there beside me if I needed help to get inside the house.
Thanking her endlessly, I eventually collapsed onto the soft and comfortable sofa where I passed out not a second later. Maya sat down beside me and watched over me for the rest of the day. My heart had almost bursted by the amount of kindness Maya had given and shown to me up until today. It felt as if she was acting as my guardian angel tasked with tending to me in my times of need.
I was having a difficult time in New York as far as I knew from past incidents back home. Auntie would tend to me like this back when I was in grade school yet, it soon stopped and I had been fine up until today. Whatever it was, I was thankful Maya was here to comfort me or otherwise, I would have fallen Ill long before or worse.
I was genuinely thankful to Maya and yet, at the same time, I felt afraid for some unknown reason.
('Why, I did not know… ')
